HT5312 Where to add my rescue email?

Hi,
I dont know where to add my escue email? I need to reset my security question as I dont remmeber the answers, I want to use the rescue email.
Please support.
Thanks,

If you don't know the answers to your questions then you won't be able to add a rescue email address to your account - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use. Or you could use 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

How do you add a rescue email to your apple id if you already have a apple id made?

If you know the answers to your security questions then steps 1 to 5 on the page that you posted from should let you add one : go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account, then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side answer the 2 questions and you can add one.
If you can't remember the answers then you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset.

  • HT5312 how to add a rescue email

i just want to know how to add a rescue email, cause in the manage id, theres no rescue email. i just want to know how to add a rescue
email so i can restart my secret question.

You cannot and need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • HT5312 Where the **** is the rescue email address link?

I'm really ******. My iTunes account has been locked for weeks where I have to type in an authentication crap that I don't even remember. I read about it on apple's unreliable website, and the image they show isn't even what the actual webpage looks like. Please help.

The option to send reset info to a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) only appears as described on that page if you have a rescue email on your account - if it's not showing then I assume that you don't have one, in which case see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

  • HT5312 Do I have to make another Apple ID to add a rescue email?

I would like to add a rescue email, but I do not know how to do so without making another ID.

    Hey breanna38,
Thanks for the question. I see you came from the most relevant article, so you are definitely on the right track. If you do not have a rescue email address associated with your Apple ID, you can add one by visiting My Apple ID. The steps for adding a rescue email address are as follows:
Note: these steps pertain to editing a rescue email, but adding one is the same.
You can edit or delete your rescue email address at My Apple ID. To edit your rescue email address:
    1. Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    2. Click "Manage your account"
    3. When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    4. Click Password & Security
    5. You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.
    6. After you've validated your identity by correctly answering your security questions, click Edit to the right of your rescue email address.
    7. Once you've finished editing your rescue email address, click the Save button directly below the email field.

How do I add a rescue email address. Have been in passwords and security but not getting the
option to add a rescue email,

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You need to answer your security questions to add a rescue address, if you don't know these.
If you don't know these you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.
If you are in a region that doesn't have international telephone support try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support.

    1. Because if you could, someone who breaks into your account could do it as well.
    2. You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • HT5312 If I can't remember my security questions, and don't have a rescue email address, why can't I just add a rescue email to my apple ID account without having to contact iTunes Support?

If I can't remember my security questions, and don't have a rescue email address, why can't I just add a rescue email to my apple ID account without having to contact iTunes Support?

I verify my identity just by logging in with my password, not being able to add a rescue email address without answering the security questions is just extra hastle and doesn't increase security. No one knows my password so how could they break into my account? I understand having security questions to change your password but not for adding an email address.
