HT5313 Since upgrading to 10.7.5, I can't use headphones on my Macbook Pro (with retina display) when connected to a Thunderbolt Display. Anybody else? Any solutions?
When I connect my headphones to my Macbook Pro, the sound continues to come through the Thunderbolt display instead of the headphones. Any help would be appreciated.
To prevent your iPhone from automatically syncing when you plug it in, click on iTunes in the menu bar, then preferences, then "devices", then tick "prevent iPhones, iPad's and iPod's from syncing automatically".
Plug it in, then on the iPhone sync summary screen, click "info" along the top.
Make sure the "sync contacts" option is not ticked. as long as it's not ticked, then it won't sync with your mac's contacts but will still include them in backups.
Also, if you use iCloud, make sure that the iPhone/mac are either not signed into the same account, or that "contacts" is not turned on for both of them

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard yesterday, twice I've been unable to get my screen saver to release back to my working desktop. Anybody else have this issue?
For a few users, since some point in OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, there has been an occasional problem when trying to wake from sleep if you have Bluetooth enabled for the keyboard, Magic Mouse, Trackpad, etc.
The solution for me that worked 100% of the time was: System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'.
For me, the problem ran intermittently through 10.6.something, all of 10.7 and now, finally, seems to be resolved in 10.8.2. -
Connecting my macbook pro with retina display after upgrading my OS to Mountain Lion
I have been using my macbook pro with retina display for more than a month and I can connect it to my HD Television, Fine. But since I upgraded my OS to mountain Lion, I can no longer connect it to my television. Did apple missed something with mountain lion? I know there is nothing wrong with my connection, so something is wrong with the new mountain lion OS. Can people from APPLE help me?
No one from Apple here - this is a user-to-user forum. I don't have a Retina but if you could let us know how you were connecting (HDMI>HDMI, for example) perhaps someone will be able to help you out.

Hi, i alredy know that the ram and the flash storage are soldered to the board in the new macbook pro with retina display but i just wondering if i go to an apple store could they send my macbook pro to apple and upgrade the ram and the flash storage and then send me back??? I alredy bought it an it cost me a lot but now i have the money to upgrade the ram and flash storage can i do it that way??
I'd rather suggest: Call Apple or take an appointment and walk into he store. They can't just turn you back. Apple can give you an upgrade even though the RAM in soldered in. They do it for the iPad all the time, tap hey simply take your unit and give you anothe and you pay e difference. They use stock that is different from the retail packages nd may run out from time to time but I don't believe you are stock with it. At the worst, you may pays bit more than the initial upgrade cost and be sure to backup before you go.

Thank you!I bought after-market ssd's for Macbook Air's from OWC. Those ssd's do not fit into the Retina MBP. I'm guessing OWC will come up with some after-market options but they will be expensive and given that you can already order a 768 directly from Apple, they would have to generate very sizable ssd's to sell them - likely way to expensive. The built-in ssd's in the Retina are supposed to have excellent performance. I ordered one with a 768 myself but these units have not shipped for the most part. I'm guessing supplies of the 768 are limited right now, or at least backlogged. All that is not terribly helpful but may add to the question asked.

i can no longer shoot directly into phaseone software - neihter version 6 or 7 - since i use my new macbook pro with retina display. pictures are not transfered from the camera into captureone. anyone else with this problem? any solutions?

Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.

Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.

Upgraded standard macbook pro vs base macbook pro with retina?
So I'm getting a new Macbook pro for college and the two I'm looking at are about the same price with different benefits. I'm looking for a versatile computer for everything I will do in college. I dont run any super intense photo programs or video editors, I just game and am a standard user. Also I plan on running bootcamp and playing some games on the computer. It's between:
-a Macbook Pro with retina display
base specs of 8gb RAM and 2.3ghz processor and I would also buy an external optical drive
The only Cons are that im not sure if 256gb SSD is enough for boot camp and everything i would be doing

2.6ghz processor and 8gb RAM
750gb HDD 7200rpm
The price comes out to about the same so im really torn between a retina/portability vs 2.6ghz processor and optical/ethernet
so basically 2.6ghz vs. 2.3ghz and 750gb HDD vs 256 SSD
any help?If you are going to load a lot of Windows games, your would probably need the larger HD. If you are using it primarily for school work, internet then 256 SSD is probably enough. I have a Windows partition on the retina version with 256 SSD, and have 140 GB remaining free. But I do not game and use Windows only for Quicken. If you are a student and are going to be carrying around your computer a lot, you might appreciate the lighter weight of the MBP with retina display. However, other poster are correct, there is no upgrade path with either MBP.

Why, since upgrading to iTunes 11, are my devices not being recognised on my MacBook Pro?
Since upgrading to iTunes 11, my devices (iPhone and iPad) are not syncing or being recognised when connected to power. Now for wifi syncing, I have to disconnect the devices from power before they are available on my MacBook Pro. Any ideas? This is really weird.

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) with a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, a 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory and a 128GB built in flash storage drive.
I do a lot of video and sound work requiring a lot of space however 128GB is just not enough. When purchasing the MacBook I was hopeful that the built in drive could possibly be upgraded to at least 512GB of storage. I have read many blogs and forums suggesting that there is work being made on a replaceable drive however I have not seen any evidence of this being confirmed. Could someone possibly let me know if this is yet possible as I would urgently like to upgrade if so.

Can I upgrade the solid-state drive in a MacBook Pro with retina display after purchase?
There used to be an option to upgrade the solid-state drive when configuring a MacBook Pro on the Apple Store online, but it is now gone. This makes me wonder if Apple's SSDs are built into the computer like the RAM is. So, is it possible to upgrade the SSD later? I don't want to pay so much more to upgrade everything else, so I'd love it if it's possible to just upgrade the SSD later. Thanks!

You should order it with as much storage as you can afford rather than doing a post purchase upgrade because of the warranty being voided.

Have been trying to find info on upgrading the mSata drive on my Mac but some people say it is possible as others say its not. Wondering if anyone else can provide their own input. I am looking at the Samsung 840evo 500 GB mSata drive and want to know if its compatible.

The drive you want is not compatible. The drive in current 2014 MacBoock Pro´s is not even a Sata type drive. Its a PCie Blade type drive.
