  • Why "Outlook Express" users can't read email from Mail.app ?

Why "Outlook Express" users can't read email from Mail.app ? Any explanation ? Select a good format, that's a good explanation, but i can't know each time if our recipients use "Outlook Express".

There are no completely bug free email clients including the Mail.app and Outlook has its share of bugs for such an old/mature email clients and some glaring ones that MS has been aware of for a long time but has chosen not to do anything about since these do not affect exchanging email with other Outlook users.
Outlook has always had problems with Mail's RTF and the degree depending on the Windows and Outlook versions used by the recipient.

I have photos from my computer saved on my Iphone and I can't delete them from the app photos. How can I delete them?

You'll have to deselect the photos in the photo pane in iTunes on your computer and then sync the phone again, this will delete photos that have not been taken with the phone but synced from the computer.

  • OK to delete spam from mail app?

I have two gmail imap accounts I check through os x mail. As such, their spam folders are visible from the mail app. Is it safe to delete these spam messages through the mail app (thereby opening the messages) or is it safer to delete them on the web, since you don't have to open the messages there to delete them? It's just that I've always heard that simply opening an infected email can release virus payload.

You're unlikely to pick up anything just by opening a message - at least on a Mac - as long as you don't click any links. However you can turn off the preview of messages by clicking and dragging on the dividing line between the message list and the preview - just drag it to the bottom of the Mail window. Then you can select a message without it being displayed, and delete it.
Alternatively, if you open the spam window without selecting anything and hit command-a it will select all messages without displaying any contents, and again you can delete.

  • Can't delete photos from photo app on iPad1

The delete key appears inactive.  Can I delete the app and install something that works?  I have abung of pitures I am trying to get rid of.
    Thanks for your help,  Terry

There are other apps that store and display photos. But you cannot delete default apps that come on the iPad. The Photos app is one of those.
Photos that were copied from the web or received in emails, etc. can be deleted directly in the Photos app.
Photos in albums that were copied to the iPad by syncing with a computer are deleted by doing another sync. But before clicking on Apply or Sync in iTunes on your computer deselect the albums you want removed. Once you click on Apply the deselected albums will be removed.

  • How can I delete MobileMe from my 10.6.8 Macbook?

A popup window appears randomly that says "You entered an invalid MobileMe member name or password. Verify your MobileMe member name and password in MobileMe System Preferences."
I've tried to delete MobileMe using the steps here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18939637#18939637 but I don't have a "MobileMe and iPhoto" icon in System Preferences, only a "MobileMe" icon which brings up this window:
I'm stuck here, because there is no way to access "Preferences."
I've tried these steps too: http://macmost.com/forum-stopping-mobileme.html but I don't have any accounts in Mail or iCal.

    Hi Roger,
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I followed your advice and deleted all the relevance .plist files and rebooted, but the issue is still present. The MobileMe window still pops up unexpectedly.

  • Yosemite latest update has broken yahoo email from mail.app. Emails won't collect or send. Tried deleting the yahoo account, now I can't re-add it - "an unknown error has occurred"

Did the latest update to Yosemite last night. All day my mail has played up. Either it won't collect email from IMAP for long periods, or sent emails would just sit in outbox then send them periodically.
I've now tried deleting and re adding the account. But it won't re add correctly - I either get "an unknown error has occurred" when I try and add it as a "Yahoo" account, and if I try adding it as "other email account" it syncs up around 300 email messages and then won't work.
Please help, email is a vital cog in my day to day Mac use.
    Thanks

This worked for me for my Yahoo.

  • Apple mail says pop account won't accept password.

I get this error message periodically and I type in my password and it's fine.  This time I keep getting the error message.  I even went on ATT's site to reset the password on my email account there and it still won't take it; still just getting the error message.

Nevermind, seems to be working now, after typing in the password about 50 times.

  • How can I delete pics from photos in order to free up space on my iPod 5 with iOS 8?

In iOS 8, how can I delete pictures from photos app because I have run out of space, I need to delete at least 6 GB of pics.  I deleted many purchased apps but it did not restore space.  When I connect to iTunes it shows about 4 GB's allocated to documents & Data.  I do not have any documents or data , also it shows a couple of GB's allocated to "other"  I checked everything on the iPod and the only thing I can see using all my space is the pictures.  Almost 12 GB's of space.  I have all the videos and pics backed to iPhoto library on my iMac.  The trash can is disabled on iPod, but enabled on iPhone and iPad.  Why is the delete/trash can feature disable on my iopd?  I need to delete the videos and a lot of pics.

Were the photos synced to the iPod?
If so you have to unsync them or use a third-party computer program like TouchCopy or PhoneView
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.
What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:

To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • How can I delete all my mail from my computer, but leave it all on .Mac ?

How can I delete all my mail ( 3.5 ) on my computer ( original G4 ) but leave it all on the .Mac servers?

backup the device and restore it as new.
If you already have or don't need a backup:
    Erase your device
Erasing all content and settings will delete all the data from your device, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All device settings are restored to their factory condition.
To remove all settings and information from your device, tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. For more information about this feature, see iOS: Understanding 'Erase All Content and Settings'.
If you are unable to erase your device, restore the device using iTunes.
See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  for the exact steps.
Transferring ringtones isn't supported, as far as I know...

  • I inadvertently removed the junk mailbox from Mail.app in SL, how can I recreate / restore it ?

    Hi,
Well, the title says it all : I inadvertently removed the junk mailbox from Mail.app in SL,
it still is spresent in my ~/library/mail folder, how can I recreate / restore it in mail.app ?
Since I have a fair number of email accounts, intelligent mailboxes, rules and archive folder, I really don't want to rebuild everything. And, no, I can't use time machine to restore it.
All help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi AdamKB, sorry for late follow-up.
What I lost is the "container" that groups all junk mailboxes in one place in Mail, like is done for all the inboxes.
The problem is that I lost visibility on all junk mailboxes. It is only a visibility problem because the junk mailboxes are still present locally for my POP accounts and remotely for may IMAP accounts, I justdon't see them anymore in Mail's interface.
