I installed OS X Mountain Lion on my desktop MAC and since then I cannot print pdf documents---I get messages like "plug in failed" or sometimes "no pages selected on printer" when clearly pages are selected

DO NOT USE PREVIEW TO FILL OUT PDF FORMS, IT WILL DESTROY PDF FILES. Sorry, but I had to shout here to prevent damage to your PDF files.
Here is one of the symptoms when you fill out a PDF form with Preview: If you save it and return it to the author, they will not be able to see the text that you've added to form fields - unless they click on a field, which will reveal the contents of just that field. You can recover from this problem, but Preview will also remove other field types, and will actually rewrite your complete PDF while ignoring what it does not understand. Thanks for the link. It is a wealth of good info. I still haven't been able to determine what caused my crash, but with the link you provided I should be able to track it down. Hopefully it was just a one time thing. After using the power button and rebooting all seems ok now. Thanks again.

If you've turned VoiceOver on then see if triple-clicking the home button turns it off, and then change what Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-Click Home is set to.
Otherwise, via 'the touch to select double-tap to activate' process you need to go into Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver and turn it off

So select Configure Universal Access at the bottom of the Summary tab and set Seeing to Neither

Installed os X Mountain Lion and now computer won't boot (first had keyboard issues-reverse caps)

I just updated my macbook air to osX mountain lion and now it will not boot at all.. At first I was having issues with the keyboard and keys typying weird characters.. and the caps lock was stuck on reverse. Now I have nothing.. Can someone help.

I upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard directly and didn't burn a copy of the installer. I want to do a clean install now. How do i do it?

You'll have to backup user file folders to a external drive (not TimeMachine), disconnect.
Go to the MacAppStore, log in and hold option key while clicking Purchases, supposedly you can redownload Lion installer which you can make a Lion boot DVD (of the complete OS) with.
(If not c boot off the 10.6.x disks and Disk Uitliy Erase/format your whole hard drive HFS+ journaled and quit, install 10.6.x and Software Update.)
Once it's downloaded you can make a couple of bootable DVDs here. (right click on the installer icon in the Dock and "show in finder")

Now install Lion again fresh and you'll have both a new Lion machine and the hold c bootable disks.
Once your up on Lion, then transfer the CONTENTS of the User file folders back into their respective folders on your new configuration. If you use the same user and hard drive name as before, your iTunes playlists and song pathnames will be preserved.
If you don't want to make boot disks, then simply Command R boot Lion and the Lion Recovery Partition you can erase and reinstall Lion that way as it will download it from the Internet (slow and glitchy)
Having the Lion boot disks has it's advantages, as you can reinstall Lion on a new hard drive you replace as well as other machines without needing the Internet.

I upgraded from Snow Leopard to the latest Mountain Lion OS and now my Wifi will not work. When I try and insert the password to my Wifi network states either 'connection timed out' or 'password and/or user name not recognised' please help...!

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
Step 3
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts.
Step 4
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.

Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.

I upgraded to Mt. Lion and now I have duplicates in notes and contacts on my iPhone 3gs. Is this a sync issue? I have 4 e-mail accounts and the iCloud is one of them.

Maybe my title says to much. I have multple contacts, notes, sometimes just two, sometimes 14. I upgraded to Mt. Lion and that may be an issue or maybe syncing is the issue. It is making me crazy/er! I have 4 e-mail contact lists and that may be part of the issue with e-mail but why duplicate notes? I am stumped. Please give your thoughts for a solution. I have deleted the duplicates from iPhone (3gs, iMac, and iPad2).

I forgot to say that the duplicate entries return after I have deleted them. Strange to me is why do some contacts show up as many as 14 times. I am suspecting that there could be an issue with iCloud or iTunes. Truly a mystery to me for now.

I've updated my mac mini lion server to mountain lion server. I have an exentsive use of wiki in my education environment. Everything looks great, except, when uploading an PDF file to the wiki document folder I can no longer download the file - I can preview the file on the wiki page, but I can no longer download the file to my iPad / iBook.
Come on Apple - you did not remove that feature!!!!
Oh - the same problem comes to pages documents etc.
What to do - my students starts monday - do I need to role-back my server?

The problem is not in the Wiki itself but in the frontend version that gets displayed when you browse it from an ipad.
The webpage looks different on the ipad because of that. If you use another browser on the ipad and you get the "default" frontend you can upload just fine.
You can also disable this ipad version alltogether but you have to go in modify the code to do it. This will display the "default" frontend for every device.

Yes, this is normal. You are permitted to redownload the installer as many times you want, so that you can transfer this to ANOTHER computer after you download.

I have trouble opening PDF documents with Firefox. They will open using IE8 and with the older version of Firefox but not with the new version of Firefox.

Specifically, I am trying to open brokerage statements with Charles Schwab. I go to the link using Firefox and click and all I get is a blank box with ABOUT: BLANK in the header at the top. Yet, I had no trouble viewing the statements with the older version of Firefox and I also have no problem viewing the document using Internet Explorer. Any help you can offer is appreciated. I would rather continue to use Firefox as my browser and not have to use IE.
