HT5373 duplicate entries in iCloud calendar

I see multiple entries of the same event on my iCloud calendar. All my devices ( Macbook and iPhone) shows this. I tried deleting some of the calendars but no use. How do I delete those duplicate entries?
Thanks

I have had similar duplication problems. All sorted by de-synching. BUT! My wife's birthday now appears on two different dates, following earlier experiments. I delete her card in Address Book, and both related iCal birthday entries disappear. When I add a new Address record for her, whatever I put under Birthday, the old error date shows in iCal.
Running 10.5.2 and iCal 3.0.2, I have to admit I cannot find the Calendars folder in ∼Library/Application Support. Possibly this would cure the problem.

How can I get rid of duplicate birthdays in icloud Calendar, especially when there are no Contacts in the iCloud? Case ID: 365381395

Found the answer myself while helping to set up iPhone.  It is simple when you know how.  Before signing out of iCloud to sign in again and restore the link to Photo Stream I had opted to copy iCloud contacts to the Mac.  When I signed in again this created two iCloud views which can be seen in Contacts Preferences.  I just disabled one of them.  Not brave enough to attempt removal but I gues this would work too.

  • Missing and duplicate entries in the calendar

I'm a long time (1997) Palm user who's moved to a BB 8330 last month. I can't seem to get calendar syncing to work correctly. In some instances, I am missing items on Outlook. I often have duplicate entries on the handheld. I've searched the forums and there seem to be similar issues and the solutions appear to be around Service Books, but I'm not confident I have a clue how not to lose lots of info.I also cannot seem to find information that explains the relationship between email addresses & calendar (I don't see why there should be any!!!)
Scenario (trying to answer up front the questions from other forum posts):
I am using Outlook on my home computer to manage my personal calendar. I do not have an email account associated with Outlook.I have set up 2-way sync with Outlook for calendar, tasks & contacts
My work uses Lotus Notes. I have set up one sync to the handheld only from the Lotus Notes calendar
The only email account configured on the BB is a gmail account (which is not associated with either calendar). I originally set this up via the wizard, then removed it, but added it back (under Email settings) when I discovered I couldn't send email from the Address book without it. I actually prefer google mobile for email management since it modifies the server state as well. Not sure if the add/remove/add sequence has somehow messed up the calendar?
I have checked under Calendar > Options and two calendars appear. Based on the color associations it appears that Device Default is associated with Outlook personal calendar & my gmail account is associated with the Lotus Notes calendar entries. As far as I know I did not create these associations.
Checking under Options > Advanced Options > Default Services, I see CICAL & CMIME entry and those are both the gmail account.
Checking under Options > Advanced Options > Service Book, I see only one CICAL & CMIME entry and those are both the gmail account.
Separately, I do have a couple of mobile apps to read email (gmail- same acct - and yahoo), but those appear to not integrate into the BB apps directly.
Everytime I sync with Outlook, I end up with lots of duplicate entries on the handheld. I have also noticed that I am missing entries that are on the handheld, but are not on Outlook (in one very odd case, the entry was created on Outlook and now only exists on the handheld). I may have deleted duplicate entries related to the missing items at one time... I can't be sure about that. I believe I currently have a complete calendar on the handheld, but not 100% confident I have a good calendar anywhere.
And as an aside, have to say I'm really bummed that I have lost easy access all my Palm historical data. It appears BB will not bring in old calendar data by design (found that in some BB documentation on their site).  Now that I will not keep up with Palm upgrades, at some point I will lose access to that data. Sigh.
    Any, all help appreciated.

Ok. In that case, try this. (That worked for me when I had similar problem. Ignore if you already tried this)
    1) Turn off the phone
    2) Remove the battary and place it again
    3) Restart your phone
Have the BB ON (e.g., something showing on the display, the HomeScreen would be fine) when you remove the battery. That is the cleanest hard reboot method.
    Good luck!

I use Plaxo so I can synch multiple work calendars and iCal. It worked fine before. Now when I synch with Plaxo, iCal creates a new calendar and adds all events to the new one. I'm puzzled. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Siri duplicate entries in calendar reminders

I had some trouble with duplicate calendar entries in Calendar with iCloud and Siri, showing duplicate entries in my iPhone, but not on my macbook pro. I've now set the iphone to show just iCloud entries, which seems to have fixed duplicate entries in Calendar, but when I ask Siri what I'm doing today or if I slide down the quick view, it shows some of my entries twice - how do I delete duplicate entries there if Calendar is only showing the iCloud calendars?
Before I changed the settings, iCloud tried to sync 7 calendars -
Yahoo (I forgot I even had this one)
    home .mac
    work .mac
    home itunes account
    work itunes account
    icloud home
    icloud work
iCloud Calendar (not sure why it has this one too)
In Calendar it now just shows -
    iCloud home
    iCloud work
I unticked iCloud Calendar but it still shows duplicates when I ask Siri 'what am I doing on XX'. I can't find a setting to change it.

HI - hope you can help.  I have just eceived my 4S and I too see that Siri finds duplicate calendar entries for every meeting.  This does not show in the nomral calendar - only when Siri searches.  Before I do as you did - turn of calendar syncing - did you find that your calandars (I have 17) still kept up to date with iCloud?  Thanks for your help.  SM

  • Duplicate entries using outlook and iCloud

How to restore original calendar in outlook after getting duplicate entries using iCloud between an iPhone and a PC

Good point.  Actually, even the wireless sync can cause the problem.  "Sync iCal Calendars" in the "Info" tab should be UNCHECKED.

  • Duplicate entries in calendar and contacts

I have many duplicate entries in my calendar and my contacts.  Deleting each one on my Z10 is very time consuming.  Is there a way to do this more efficiently, such as viewing the calendar and the contacts as a file on my computer, where editing would be much easier?

Ok you can try one thing first, less invasive to see if it clears one set of contacts.
    Open your contacts
Swipe down from the top edge > Settings.
Scroll down and turn off each of the various contact accounts.
tap BACK at lower left and now view your contacts.
All that should be left are the "local" contacts. Do you see any, and are they the contacts duplicated?
If so, then close all that and return to your main homescreen.
To clear the local calendar or contact database on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone, complete the following steps:
Swipe down from the top bezel on the home screen, and select Settings.
    Select Accounts.
Tap the action menu button (3 vertical dots) on the bottom-right.
Select Clear Local Contacts or Clear Local Calendar.
Now, view your contacts app again. Make sure the ALL TAB is displayed at lower left.
Scroll through and check for duplicates.

  • 8300 Curve duplicate entries in Calendar

    Hi
    BES
    8300 Curve
Currently I have a user that has duplicate entries in her calendar. When I'm in  the Calendar and select Options then choose select Calendars I have four options
    Show All
    Calendars
    Desktop
    Desktop
I have desktop twice and that is why I think she is seeing  two entries in her calendar. How do I go about removing the second Desktop. I'm new to BB so could you provide me with instruction. I saw an option to wipe the BB but will this affect all her phone  numbers that are stored on the phone. What exactly will it wipe out on the BB?

I got duplicate entries after updating device software. I sync with outlook and outlook does not have the duplicates. I have the same question as you,,how to wipe out the dups without screwing up my original entries or entries in outlook.

  • Duplicate entries in iCal.  I don't get it!

Is there some place that I can go to get a definitive explanation of how iCal, Mobile.me and Subscriptions are interconnected? I don't get it. I always seem to end up with duplicate entries in my calendar. If I remove a check mark in one calendar, then stuff disappears, but if I put the check mark back, then I end up with duplicate entries.
Seems to me that if I enter stuff only in iCal, then I should only see it once. Unfortunately, Mobile.me or subscribed calendars seem to cause things to appear more than once. Birthdays are a real problem. I enter them in contacts, but Mobile.me seems to want to pull them from there and from the calendar, then they show up twice. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong, and there doesn't seem to be any clear instruction (that I can find), clearly outlining where or how stuff should be entered. Maybe I'm just dense, but trying to sync between Mobile.me, my Mac, iPad, and iPod....is making me crazy.

    JimminyC,

  • How do I remove duplicate iCloud calendar entries in iTunes

Hello Everyone and thanks in advance for any help on this issue!
The main issue is that in iTunes>Devices>Info>Sync Calendars, I see of Local calendars listed and also iCloud calendars listed (they show a portion of the address (CalDAV?) that they use to sync), and the issue is that I have DUPLICATE iCloud calendar entries here and I would love to remove them.
    Here is my setup:
MBP with Lion and iPhone 3G with all updates.
All of my calendars sync with iCloud (I also have an iPad, but not issue with it.) and there are no duplicate calendars or events in iCloud on the web, so this is fine.
I sync my iCloud/iCal calendars to my iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1) via iTunes and this is going well, so no problems here, either.
I would just like to remove the duplicate iCloud calendars from iTunes under the Info pane so as to simplify life and my understanding. Also, there are other apps (like TimeTable) that go and read the master list of calendars. So, on this app, I see ALL of the calendars by name without being able to distinguish them any other way.
Any ideas as to how I can climb inside of iTunes and remove the duplicate iCloud calendar entries?
    Thanks!
    Blessings,
    Justin

I can confirm that there are no duplicate contacts. Currently, because I use an iPhone 3G, my contacts are only being synced via iTunes, not via iCloud.
My question relates not to duplicate calendar events, but to duplicate calendar addresses (in iCloud) in iTunes' Info pane.
    Here is a pic:
So, you can see that there are 2 entries for 'Personal', each with the iCloud address (CalDAV?) attached to it. Note that one entry says, 'Personal iCld' instead of just 'Personal'. This is because I renamed all of my iCloud calendars in iCal to see if that would help me distinguish the 'working' calendars from the duplicate entries.
I would love to be able to get rid of the extra calendars in iTunes to avoid confusion. I do not have any duplicate calendar entries on any devices at this point. I think part of this is because I have deslected the duplicate calendar references in iTunes.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Justin

  • ICloud Address Book and Calendar not syncing. Missing and duplicate entries. Help.

I have duplicate entries in Address Book. I have missing entries on other devices. For calendar it just doesn't sync.
What I've done to try to fix it:
    1) I signed out of all my devices from iCloud and MobileMe.
    2) I then deleted all the the cache files in Library and any iCloud folders I could
    3) I deleted all the address book and calendar entries on each device.
    4) Went back and deleted anything in Library and caches.
    5) I looked at iClould.com and confirmed they had entries in Address Book and Calendar.
    6) Signed back into iCloud on each device.
    7) All the devices then began to populate.
    Trouble began:
    1) Some Address Book entries are missing on devices.
    2) iClould has multiple entries for the very missing contacts! All cutting off the notes field at different places!
    3) It won't sync the missing contacts present on iCloud but not the device.
    Help.

Solved it myself. What I did:
    1) I have four Lion OS and two iOS devices.
    2) I kept one computer with the complete address book I wanted to start with but disconnecting it from iCloud's Contact sync via Apple Menu > System Preferences > iCloud uncheck Contact Sync
    3) Logged into iCloud.com and deleted all the contacts and groups manually ( many keyboard shortcuts worked )
    4) On the main computer, using textedit, I replaced semicolons I was using to delimit items in the notes field with backslashes.
    5) Once I confirmed all the other computers and devices had no entries in Address Book, on the main computer I turned back on iCloud Contact syncing. It worked. Correct count of entries and no more breaking notes at the semicolons!
    6) Immediately all the other iCloud computers and devices updated to the correct notes! Finally.

  • SOLUTION: iCal calendar duplicates created by iCloud

Two weeks after I migrated to Lion, I stopped syncing my iPad and iPhone through iTunes and turned on iCloud.  I had 15 years of calendar data, and after the iCloud syncing, most of the entries were duplicated or even triplicated.  It took me 5 days and about 5 hours with Apple tier 2 advisors to resolve the problem.  The support communities had useful info, but it was scattered around.  I am consolidating the useful stuff in this posting so that it may help others.
    1.  The important thing to understand about iCloud is that it considers itself the "master repository".  Its primary purpose is to backup your data, but it cannot distinguish your data if it originates from multiple sources.  My 3 devices (mac, iPad, iPhone) synced fine via iTunes.  But when I connected the 3 devices to iCloud, iCloud did not continue from where iTunes left off.  Instead, the calendars on the 3 devices were Merged in iCloud, resulting in  duplicates.  However, many repeating events (events that spanned multiple days) were not duplicated.
    2.  At this point, your calendar is corrupted.  Don't try to fix a calendar while you are connected to iCloud (see why below).  Your best choice is to delete the calendar from all platforms and then restore your pre-iCloud calendar from your archive or from Time Machine.  First, disconnect your calendar on ALL devices (Apple->Preferences->iCloud->uncheck the calendar).  This will delete calendar from those devices.  Then go into iCloud and delete the calendar there (click the Edit button at the top of the calendar list and then click the minus button).
    3.  Restore your pre-iCloud calendar to your mac.  Because this is pre-iCloud, all your calendars should be under the "On my Mac" section.  Go into Apple->Preferences->iCloud->check the calendar.  iCloud will start syncing immediately and your iCal will say "iCal - Updating" in the title bar.  When it stops Updating, check your data.  You will see that all of your calendars in the Mac are now in the iCloud section.
    4.  Add a test event and see how it updates on iCloud.  Now go to your iPad and iPhone.  If you did step 2 correctly, both of their calendars should be empty.  Turn iCloud back on on those devices through Preferences, and the data will sync to your devices.  By default, the mobile devices only sync I think 2 weeks of data.  I discovered that even tho I could get 15 years of data to sync to my iPad, the iPad could not display it.  So I am going to have to tolerate having only a short period of data on my mobile devices and keep the whole archive only on my mac.
    TIPS I LEARNED
Backup your calendar and address book BEFORE you go to iCloud.  Use the File->Export menus to export an archive of the whole calendar (.icbu) or whole address book (.abbu).
In addition, you might want to export each of your calendars and address book groups as individual .ics files and .vcf files.  This way, if you need to combine calendars, you can simply import a .ics file into an existing calendar in iCal.
Why can't you delete duplicates while you are connected to iCloud?  I tried to do that, and just when I got close to the very end, iCloud seemed to get confused, and then it suddenly put all the duplicates back.  Several hours wasted.
If you delete the calendar from iCloud and then try to restore it to your mac, it is very important to disconnect iCloud first.  Otherwise, iCloud syncs the deletion back to the mac and deletes the calendar you just restored.  Just remember, everytime you disconnect from iCloud, it deletes the calendar on your device.  So the sequence must be:  disconnect iCloud first, and THEN restore. When you turn iCloud back on, iCloud sees this as a whole new calendar.
I was used to the replication idea of Lotus Notes, where the newest time stamp determined which event to keep in a sync conflict.  iCloud does not work that way.  It doesn't use timestamps and has no idea of latest event.  It just merges everything.  When you first turn iCloud on, if it asks you if you want to merge your Address Book, realize that iCloud will merge at the field level.  So for a contact, if you made changes in work phone on two devices, that contact will now have 2 work phone fields.
How to restore a Lion calendar from Time Machine:  In Finder, go to the Go menu.  Press the option key, and Library shows up in the dropdown menu.  Select Library and then open the Calendars folder.  Copy everything in it to a safe place and then delete the originals.  Now, open Time Machine, and it will navigate to that hidden folder.  Restore everything in the Calendars folder.
How to restore a Snow Leopard calendar from Time Machine:  If you have since migrated to Lion, use the method above to get to the Calendars folder and clear it out.  Now open Time Machine and go to the Library->Calendars folder and restore everything in that folder.

To restore the calendar from before iCloud installation, after you delete the Calendars folder information, inside of iCal, you can do a File-Import from the iCal backup that is taken by iCloud in the library/Calendars folder. I found one files of these in each of the machines I restored from.   The file name format is iCal yyyy-mm-dd hh/mm/ss.icbu where hh is GMT time.
Now I am getting rid of iCloud for calendars and contacts, and am going to try Google Sync.

  • How to delete duplicate contact entries in iCloud?

    Dear Members,
I am searching for a way to delete multiple duplicate entries in my iCloud accound.  I have been unable to find a solution to this except to manually delete each one individually, one-at-a-time.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if there happens to be of a way to delete all of my contacts and start from scratch, I would like to know a solution for this as well.
Thank you in advance for your time.  Anyone that can point me in the right direction or provide me with a solution, I will be very grateful.
    Regards,
    fivanaj

Thanks for the suggestion, Barney-15E. FYI I am not running both iCal and Calendar. Just Calendar. Me bad for using the old name and new name interchangeably.
Tackling the iMac problem: In iCloud network preferences, I unchecked Safari then soon after rechecked it, and your suggestion appears to have worked: a bookmark recently added on one of the other devices appeared in the iMac Safari bookmarks. So far so good.
Did the same thing with contacts. The iMac took a couple of hours to restore the sync setting, but it finally completed the task. The computer was laboring so I rebooted. Then I opened the contacts application and saw the spinning grey bars next to the "iCloud" heading above my list of contact groups. Some time later the spinning lines were replaced by an exclamation point. I clicked on it and got the message that the operation could not be completed because of a "CoreDAVErrorDomain error 1..". Subsequently, after much spinning of the line wheel, I have gotten either the exclamation point with the CoreDAV message or a lightning bolt icon. Whether exclamation point or lightning bolt, clicking on it provokes a long period of the spinning line wheel. And looking at some telltale contact discrepancies between the iMac and the other machines, nothing seems to have changed in terms of merging the discrepancies.
Searching for the error message in the support community, I see this has happened to others, and they have had some success in following a list of steps starting with archiving the contacts, which I have done. Don't think I fully follow the other steps, nor am I sure they apply to my situation.
