HT5395 iMessages from phone to Mac

I was able to connect my iphone and mac, so that i could see my iMessages on my Mac, sending and receiving. I am now having issues with this; i am not receiving my messages to my phone, they are going only to my computer. how do i fix this?

I have seen this.
When I checked the iPhone > Settings > Messages only the Apple ID was ticked for Send and Receive.
AS the iPhone number is greyed out you cannot change this.
I removed the Apple ID then placed the iPhone in Airplane Mode (to break with the servers)
I waited a few minutes before taken it out of Airplane mode.
I then checked Messages to ensure the iPhone Number alone was ticked for Send and Receive.
It was so I added back the Apple ID and both remained ticked.
I then restarted the app on the MAc and it then go the Pop up alerts to say the iPhone was using the Number and Apple ID.
I Accepted this and the iPhone Number appeared in the "Start Conversion From" drop down and the "Receive At" spot.

Cant send iMessage from iPhone or Mac, can receive them.

Two days ago I suddently became unable to send iMessages from either my Mac Mini or my iphone yet people can send them to me. To respond I have to switch to SMS and then I get stuck there. It looks like facetime still works, just no imessage.
Any ideas?

Lost phone, trying to iMessage from phone number on Mac

So I lost my phone the other day and its off (I'm assuming it got ran over I think I dropped it out of my car) and I want to imessage from my verizon number from my computer until I can get a new phone... But my icloud email won't connect my phone number to imessage on my computer... Is there any way to do this without the use of my phone? I used to be able to but it seems that when my phone is off I can't use my number. (Using verizon)

It is better that you set this up with the Phone.
In Mountain Lion however the item in Messages > Preferences > Accounts > iMessages accounts that says "Add email" could be used to add iPhone numbers.
I have never tried this but it was reported widely at the time Messages started as a "new" app.
Having said that.
A device that is off from several days will tend to be "removed" from the iMessages list of an active item.
i.e. just turning Off Messages on the iPhone for about three days will "remove" it's Registration from the iMessages server.
If you turn it on again it will show "Waiting for verification" for some time.
i.e. you may not be able to use the iPhone number.

And I have a question: how can I send a message to an IPad or IPod or Mac or IPhone from IPhone and Mac?

To send from the iPhone to the mac or Ipad you need an email address to send to, instead of a phone number.
on the iPad or mac you need to setup Messages. I do not have mesages on the mac and do not have an iPad but I have set it up on my iPod Touch and I assume it is similar.
Settings>Messages>
> iMessage > ON
> Send Read Reveipts > ON or OFF your choice
> Received At > [email protected]
Enter your valid email address in the "Received At" field.
As long as the email is valid it should work, and I assume you will need a different email for the iPad and Mac.

How can I retrieve old iMessages (from phone) from Messages on my computer

I recently installed Mavericks, and now have Messages. However, it only seems to have access to my texts from one person, and no one else.
I have tried the steps described here—

In particular, my Contacts are synced via iCloud, my phone is aware of my Apple ID, its own number (which it automatically sends from), and two email addresses, and my computer knows that same Apple ID and phone number (which it is set to send from) and two email addresses. When I attempt to start typing a text message to a new contact, my text history with that person does not import. Their name shows up red.
Much worse, when I tried to send texts to someone else (who I know uses an iPhone) via Messages, it instead sent it to the one person whose texts it has imported. I would rather be able to text more than one person.

Just to restate to make things clear.
Lets presume the Apple ID is already on the Mac in Messages for the iMessages account.
Then you should add the Apple ID to the iPhone.
Once this is done the iPhone should show the number and th Apple ID in the Send and Receive spot.
If you restart the Mac version at this point you should get a pop up saying what the iPhone is using.
You should accept this and it will add the iPhone number to the Messages app > Preferences > Accounts > iMessages account details in the "Receive At" spot which in turn should show the drop down for "Send From".
It is possible to have an email at Apple for your Apple ID that has never been verified.
If this is the case there can be issues with the iMessages side of Messages and FaceTime.
Go to the Apple ID site
Login using the Manages option and make sure your email is verified.
(it should send you an email and you click a response link to confirm).
This may explain why the Mac version is not logging in properly and showing you the red names when you start to set up a conversation.

Also you can only "Sync" the iMessages from the time both devices have the same Apple ID

Back up contact from phone to mac

Since upgrading the OS to X, the info tab is no longer available in itunes to help me sync my contacts from my phone or mac. Now the sync between the two are no longer working, why???

I need to transfer photos from my THC T-Mobile Radar phone to my iMac. I've been given many options referring on the way to do this; Bluetooth, Google Drive, USB cord from phone to Mac...which do you suggest?

I want to transfer photos taken with my Radar Phone (T-Mobile) to my iMac so I can email them to friends. I have been told that I have several options in order to make this happen: Bluetooth, Google Drive, USB cable from phone to iMad, a cloud destination...which is best, and have any of you tried to do this via a Windows phone to a Mac. Forget the HTC Sync Manager - it does nothing but lock up and crash everytime I use it.
Instead, get the official "Android File Transfer" application for Macintosh computers from Android. It opens up your Android device with something that looks just like a Finder, allowing you to copy/move/delete anything.
I was able to backup over 4 GB of photos and videos from HTC One S to my iMac and then delete them from my phone in a matter of minutes...

Yes.
Open Messages, and go to Preferences (under Messages in the menu bar). Choose the "Accounts" tab, and where it says "You can be reached for messages at", click "Add email". Then type in your iPhone's telephone number. (An iPhone is required - otherwise, this will not work.). You may need the full international prefix; e.g., in the U.S., the phone numbrer may look like +1 (987) 654-3210.
Once that phone number is accepted, you can set "Start New Conversations From" to that number.

I recently switched over from iPhone 4 to a Samsung Galaxy S4. I used the iPhone for 2 years with iMessage on. I no longer use the iPhone. I turned off iMessage on my iPhone, I unregistered the iPhone from my Apple account. However my friends and family that own an iPhone with iMessage turned on, everytime they text my number...my new phone doesn't receive the text message. It still shows that my number is iMessage capable with the blue bubbles. And that is weird because I own an Android device now. How do I fix this issue? i just changed from iphone to android as well and dont' get iphone users messages as they still 'see' me as a imsg'er..my husband is still an iphone user and we both would sync our phones into the icloud..apple service got me to delete my account from itunes but it still doesn't work. i am dumbfounded as what to do now. everything is deleted on phone, mac but still no msg's..any ideas?

How do I transfer pictures taken on Iphone 4 by syncing the phone or any other way? I want to place pics on my iphone4 to my mac, when i sync i only see choices for computer to phone, not phone to computer.

It seems that you have not looked at the manual.

You import camera roll pics the same way you would from any digital camera ( iphoto for example). They are not part of the sync process.

Can't imessage from phone number, only from/to email.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that your phone number is not checked and also is grayed out in your Messages settings on the iPhone. To start with, your phone number will always appear grayed out on your iPhone. In order to get it checked in order for you to be able to send from the the phone number, I'd like you to simply turn iMessage off, and then back on.
tap Settings > Messages and turn iMessage off.

Transferring pictures from phone to Mac Pro.

I would like to know how to transfer pictures from my Pantech Crux phone to my Mac Pro computer.

IPods have been designed by Apple to be a one way street. Mac to iPod, not iPod to Mac. That said, there is software available that addresses that issue. You may post your query on the iPod forum or search the discussions section for these forums and I am certain that you will find several options.

Can't download all photos from phone to mac, should I turn off photo stream?

I took my mac air, iPhone 5, iPad 2 into the Apple store last week. We set up Photo Stream. Now I can't get all photos off my phone so that I can share them on FB. I can see them in the phone but they are only on laptop in the Stream not on hard drive

Make sure you have the iPhoto/Photo Stream preferences set to import all PS photos:
Be aware that many users are having problems with uploading photos to Facebook from inside iPhoto on their Macs. The workaround is to export the photos to the Desktop and upload them to FB with your browser.
