HT5429 Is lane-assist included in the iPhone 5 maps?

I was hoping to use the iPhone 5 Maps whenever they ship me my phone but I was wondering if it was better than my Garmin 1490 with LM and LT?

Thanks CRMDVM.  Good read.  I am really looking forward  to getting my iPhone5,  iPad that is getting ready to be shipped in a couple of days and the new iMac when it becomes available.  I am so tired of PCs and their problems.  Hope things are better with Apple.  I currently have 2 1490 Garmins so GPS is not a problem!!  Again thanks for the help!!!!

  • Why isn't the iphone apple map linked to other apps

since changing the ios the iphone now has maps supported by apple.  since this is the case why don't other apps prompt the iphone map app to open.  some apps like lowes, home depot, target, walmart apps direct users to google maps via the internet.

This is a technical forum.  Nobody here will know the answer.  The answer requires speculation about why companies behave the way they do.

  • My iphone 4 will not play or open the music application included on the iphone

when i try to open the music application included on my phone it comes up as a blank or black screen for a few seconds before returning to the home screen i have rebooted and restarted as well as fully closed down all my apps

Try resetting it: hold down the power and the Home button for about ten seconds until the Apple icon appears on the screen.

  • How can I use the iPhone GPS without a contract?

Is there any way? Call me crazy, but I want GPS and I already have a cellphone that I'm not interested in replacing. Would it be possible to go and get an iPhone and use the GPS without paying for a plan? I already use AT&T, but what don't want is to pay for the data plan. Does the GPS system use the AT&T service to function at all?
    Thanks!

The iPhone 3G will be sold at at&t and Apple brick and mortar stores only - at least initially, and activation and signing a two year contract will be required at the store when the iPhone is purchased. The unlimited data plan is not an option and is required.
The iPhone includes what is called A-GPS or assisted GPS.
The iPhone Maps application downloads selected maps from Google, which is downloaded to the iPhone via wi-fi or at&t's cellular network. GPS without having access to maps won't be much good. Some 3rd parties may provide select maps that can be purchased and downloaded to the iPhone via the iTunes App Store for access via GPS if there is no cell phone reception, but this is unknown.

  • I'm looking for a high quality image of the flower in the iPhone 5 the website.

There is a flower that is used in the apple website, for the iPhone 5. It is purple and yellow. I've been looking all over the web for it but cannot find an image of it that doesn't have a glare on it. I guess it is owned by apple, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a high quality image of it. Unfortunately it is not included with the iPhone 5.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
I see on photo to movie spec page that you can export in full 1920 X 1080 H.264 codec, a high quality format usable in FCE.

  • My iPhone is going to be remplaced because of a pixel fix. Do I have to return the box with all accessories or juste the iPhone itselves ?

My iPhone is going to be remplaced by Apple soon, will I have to return the box and accesories includes with the iPhone or just the iPhone ? Moreover, will I have an all new iPhone in it package with all accesories ?
    Tks !

That is how it is supposed to work. And how it was done
when my 3G was exchanged. If they do give you more
than just an iPhone, are you losing anything? If in doubt,
ask Apple or the store that is replacing your iPhone.
    Thank you for the feedback.

  • Ovi map lane assistance

    Hi,
Does anyone here feel the lane assistance in ovi map (3.04) is too slow. I found out that the lane assist figure will only show up when I am very close to the junction. By very close I mean, I am already at the traffic light or beyond the junction which kind of defeat the whole purpose of lane assistance. Is there any setting I can change to have it shown earlier?
    Thanks.

There isn't a setting for lane assistance however at the top left of the screen is a small icon which shows the upcoming instruction and also the countdown distance to it.

  • I'm buying the iPhone 5 tomorrow (currently have the 4s)

how do I make sure all my sms texts transfer from my current phone to my new one?
I backed it up on my itunes, and I'm not backing up on iCloud (says it'll take 3 hours)
I made sure all my photos are synced up, but I'm really concerned about my textes (a lot of memories I guess), I have iMessage on my MacBook so those aren't an issue.
How do i make sure those get transfered?

Texts are included with the iPhone's backup.

  • Suggestion to overhaul the photo/syncing/organizing system on the iPhone

I am currently going through and organizing my camera roll's photos into different photo albums, and I realized that the way photo organization is currently implemented is simply NOT up to Apple's standard of usability (****, it's not even up to Microsoft's....)
Not only can I not directly transfer images from the Camera Roll to an album of my choice directly on the iPhone, I can't even do that from within iTunes nor can I create albums directly on the iPhone (why not!????). The only way I can do that on Windows 7 is by manually creating folders outside of iTunes, and then syncing them.
But that got me thinking that not even the album approach to organizing photos is good. Say for instance I want to organize my photos by both people AND places. For instance I go on a trip and have a photo of a friend. In order to place that photo in an album for that trip, as well as place that photo of my friend in an album for that friend, I need to have TWO instances of the same photo, which takes up twice the space on my phone. Furthermore, I have to clone it manually via Windows etc.
What the iPhone needs is a simple, tried and true image tagging system, whereby the photo albums are not physical albums, they're simply based off of tags. This means the same photo can appear in multiple albums without requiring multiple instances of it on the phone.
Further, photos then become search-able via the phone's search spotlight. Currently the albums are not even search-able, let alone specific images. But if image tagging were to be implemented, it would allow particular "albums" to show up in the search results.
So rather than adding the ability to create albums via the phone and to move images from the Camera Roll to a particular album, you simply allow the user to create a bunch of pre-defined tags which can show up in a list when you go to tag each photo.
If Apple's feeling really ambitious, it could use the multi-select approach the camera role uses for sharing/deleting. Select a bunch of images, and apply the same tag(s) to all of them.
Meanwhile the current list of "albums" would appear exactly as it does now, except those albums would simply be based off the tags.
Anyway, there's no real point to this post other than to rant about how utterly poor the usability of the photo organization system is on an otherwise well thought-out device, and to offer a solution to fix it.

The sync process for photos is for the most part is centered around using iPhoto on a Mac, or with using a supported 3rd party photo management app on a PC.
Photos in the iPhone's Camera Roll are designed to be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. iPhoto supports importing photos from any digital camera including from the iPhone's Camera Roll. iPhoto includes a places and faces feature. In order for a photo to be available in an available iPhoto album, event, places, and faces, the photo must be in the main iPhoto library. A photo in an iPhoto album, event, places, and faces is not duplicated and can be in all 4 categories. A photo in an album event, places, and faces includes a pointer to the original photo stored in the iPhoto library. The same with iTunes playlists. You can't have a song in an iTunes playlist unless the song is in the main iTunes library, and a song can be in multiple playlists without being duplicated. A song in an iTunes playlist is not duplicated.
What the iPhone needs is a simple, tried and true image tagging system, whereby the photo albums are not physical albums, they're simply based off of tags. This means the same photo can appear in multiple albums without requiring multiple instances of it on the phone.
Already done this way with iPhoto on a Mac, and should be the same when using a 3rd party photo management application on a PC.

  • Stock photos on the iphone

I want to get the photos that came with my G3 iphone. The were deleted when I sync.

Please read my previous post again.
There are no photos included with the iPhone that are stored in your iPhone's Camera Roll or in your iPhone's Photo Library.
These are empty with a new iPhone. Your iPhone's Camera Roll is for storing photos that were captured by your iPhone or for a photo saved from a received email or from a website.
Your iPhone's Photo Library stores photos that were transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process.
Both are empty with a new iPhone.
If you are referring to the included Wallpaper photos, these are stored elsewhere.
Go to Settings > Wallpaper and select Wallpaper.

  • What if my phone is on a family plan and I get the iphone

Would I have to disconnect my extra line from the family plan if I get the iphone? what does the EMAIL & WEB -SMARTPHONE $29.99 included? How much data do I get to use a month before getting over charges? I have a internet wireless card that makes a hot spot does that mean I wouldn't need a internet package for the iphone?

    whoyaboo wrote:
Would I have to disconnect my extra line from the family plan if I get the iphone? No, you can use an iPhone with your current line, but I'm not really sure what you're asking here.  Did you add an extra line to the Family Plan to buy the iPhone at the upgrade price? what does the EMAIL & WEB -SMARTPHONE $29.99 included? This includes unlimited 3G data access and Verizon's e-mail program, you can also use the e-mail program included with the iPhone, or a web-based interface. How much data do I get to use a month before getting over charges? The $29.99 package is truly unlimited, use as much data as you like! I have a internet wireless card that makes a hot spot does that mean I wouldn't need a internet package for the iphone? You CAN connect your iPhone via the hotspot over WiFi, but I don't think you would want to.  The data speed will probably be the same, and the package inlcuded with your iPhone is unlimited (where the hotspot has a limit).  Regardless, you MUST have the $29.99 package on any line the iPhone is active on.

  • Am I a good candidate for the iPhone?

In April, I will be out of contract with Sprint. I currently have a Palm Centro and I use the **** out of certain features. The only thing I'm not loving about the iPhone is the lack of hard keyboard, but I've played with the iPhone enough to know that it won't be a huge problem. The important things to me are:
*Internet Radio (I use Pocket Tunes Deluxe on my Centro)
    *Calender
*Alarm Clock (I need at least 3 alarms)
    *Memo
*A built in phone number/address/reverse lookup app (like TryDA for palm)
    *A weather/traffic/theater showtimes, etc. app
*Push email from Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.
I know I can do some of these things in Safari, but having a shortcut is great. I've become spoiled to how customized my Centro is for ME, and I'd just like to know I'll be getting the same out of the iPhone. Also, how fast are 3G speeds compared with EDGE speeds? I've become spoiled to how fast EV-DO is on Sprint and ATT's coverage map shows my house in an EDGE location. If it's too slow, I'm just going to hold out until ATT has a bigger 3G footprint.

Here are the answers to your questions:
1-There are plenty of internet radio apps in the appstore and they are all free (that I know of, I currently have 5 different ones downloaded)
2-There is a calendar on the iPhone and you can also sync it with MobileME (Apple's internet program that will sync data between your computer, phone, internet) and Outlook.
3-I don't know what the max cap on Alarms are, but I've set 6 alarms for a day at one point.
4-There is a notepad application (plus many more in the appstore)
5-There are apps available from the appstore that will allow you to search contacts, etc.
6-There is a default weather app that is included in the iPhone, and there are more available in the appstore. I believe there are also traffic apps as well. There are apps for movie theaters and all the info you'll need.
7-There is push email from Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, Exchange Server (2003 and higher), and you can put in others, but it depends on whether they will support them or not. I do know that for Hotmail you have to purchase an app from the appstore which is $9.99.
8-You can create shortcuts for specific webpages that will be on your "desktop" of the iphone.
9-The 3G speeds are 3 times faster or more than Edge speeds. I switch between using Edge and 3G because of coverage (*You have to make sure that 3G is in your area otherwise you'll only have access to Edge*). You can check to see AT&T's 3G coverage area by clicking the link below, you'll see the View 3G/Mobile Broadband coverage link at the bottom right.
    http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/
Also, the iPhone doesn't have MMS, so you have to use the email as a workaround. People can send the pictures, videos, sounds, etc to your email address from their phone, and you can send pictures through email to their phone as an MMS message.

  • Google maps back on the iPhone soon?

How soon will google maps app be back on the iphone?
Apple refused to post the question I previously asked, apparently they didn't take too kindly to the way I described their new wonderful application Apple Maps.

There have been numerous posts about this.
Google Maps is not on the iPhone because of 1 or more of these reasons:
    1. Apple has not approved the new Google Maps for iOS 6
    2. Google never sent in the app for approval yet.
    3. Apple is steering away from Google due to their strained business relations. Google did not want to release the Turn By Turn code / features for Google maps for iOS so that their Android products have an edge over the iPhone Google Maps. This is one of the reasons Apple developed their own.

We have multiple devices in the family, including now 4 iphones, all who share the same Apple ID. I want to stop this, but need thoughts on multiple IDs as Findmyphone works well as same ID?!

I don't know if I'm asking this all in a way that can be understood? Thanks ED3K, however that part I do understand (in the link you provided!)
What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!
Thanks again for "anyone" that can help me!!!
