HT5429 Voice Navigation doesn't seem to play through my car's bluetooth connection. Am I missing something or does it just not do that?

Is there a way to get the maps voice directtions to play through my car's audio system - as my phone calls do?

In my car Google Maps app functions perfectly, whereas Maps does not.
Siri responses play through bluetooth
Phone calls play through bluetooth
Maps navigation prompts do not.
Yesterday I tried Google Maps and it works perfectly. As much as I hate to use anything Google, for now I will use their maps app for navigation.

AMSCheck command doesn't seem to go through

With Adobe Media Server 5, we'd like to use the command "AMSCheck" to check the server status, etc., but this command doesn't seem to go through. We tried searching for it using the "find" command, but there was no result.

It should be in <AMS-install-root>/tools folder e.g /opt/adobe/ams/tools if the installation was the default installation.
Also be sure of the case sensitivity of the file name on linux i.e
find / -iname *AMScheck*

Try going in to your iTunes acct and check to make sure your pmt info is correct. Credit card etc.

Play through phone speakers when dock connected

Can I play through phone speakers when dock connected? I bought a new case to mount my phone to my bike's handlebars. To allow use of other attachments, the case has an internal dock connector. I want to play music through the speakers while riding (rather than headphones), however, due to the cases internal dock connector, it seems I cannot do this. Any suggestions?

I would try in oreder:
- Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Why are you posting in this forum about what occured with an independent service provider? How is is at all relevant to Apple?? In fact, service by any person or business not authorized by Apple voids any waranty.

Doesn't seem to play podcasts after 1.02 update.

My shuffle doesn't seem to be able to play podcasts after the 1.02 update. I drag songs onto the shuffle in iTunes and it loads. The playlist for the shuffle says the podcast file is on there. I disconnect the shuffle and hit play. The light blinks between green and orange a couple times and that's it. The little card that shows error messages says my shuffle is empty. I plug the shuffle back into the computer and iTunes still shows that file is on the shuffle.
This has started since the 1.02 update. If I put other files like MP3s on my shuffle, they work fine. I've tried doing the 'restore' function and it didn't help. Podcasts tend to be bookmarked AAC files. So, is 1.02 having problems with bookmarked files?

Is your "shuffle"/"play-in-order" switch set to "play-in-order"?

Why doesn't CD-R play in the car?

I burned music cd (CD-R) on my computer and it plays fine in the computer but doesn't play in the car. Why?

Depends largely on the age of the player. Most recent ones (up to 3 or 4 years old) should play CD-R perfectly well, provided they're burned as audio CDs.
Some will also play mp3s from data discs.
Older than 4 to 5 years, or budget players, the scene is more fragmented. Most won't, some will.
6 years and older, less and less likely it'll be compatible.

Voice command doesn't seem to recognize my voice

Voice command comes up, as advertised, and I give it a command, speaking slowly and clearly. It then repeats a command that has nothing to do with what I've said and goes about executing its own wish (unless I cancel). I'll say: "Play Good Vibrations," and it will say: "calling 800 555 1212," or it will pick some other song with no relation whatsoever to the desired command. Is there some way to train voice command to behave better?

You have to use the right commands. There's a list of the built-in commands on page 38 of the Users Guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
You can't play a specific song using voice control, only play artist (name), play album (name), or play playlist (name).

I can't seem to able to MANUALLY TYPE SEARCH for songs. am i missing something....?

has this option been removed, thereby making our buying experience harder, am i looking in the wrong place making it more complicated or what the f.....

The search bar for the iTunes store can be found in the upper right hand corner (while in the itunes store) and it says "search store". I hope your itunes has this. Otherwise its probably a glitch and I don't know how to fix that sorry. I hope this helps:)

New MacBook doesn't seem to like my Airport Express

Hi,
I just replaced my old PowerBook G4 (Aluminum) with a MacBook and it doesn't seem to play nicely with my Airport Express when it comes to AirTunes. I live in an apartment building and with my old machine I could see 4 or 5 networks but the new machine sees about 18 different networks (newer hardware, better antennas I guess) and AirTunes keeps dropping out. I also get rather random drops of the signal where my AirPort status in the OS goes to zero and I have to reconnect. It's frustrating!
I've tried adjusting the channel multiple times and I've used iStumbler to try and figure out what channel other networks are using and although I've found an unoccupied one (2 right now, other people seem to love 1, 6, and 12), AirTunes still drops out frequently (maybe 3-5 times every five minutes, usually in clusters). Interference Robustness is enabled.
Does anyone have ideas on how to improve the situation? I hate to throw hardware at the problem, but I'm even thinking about getting an Airport Extreme because maybe 802.11n will help the cause? (But will my AirTunes with Airport Extreme problem still exist?)

DVDs copied to Apple TV only seem to play in small format on Widescreen TV

Ok when i purchase a film from iTunes Store, it plays on Apple TV and uses the full capacity of the attached flat screen TV. When I use Aimersoft to copy old collections of DVDs to store them on Apple TV they only seem to play back using 60% of the widescreen - some movies much less. Does anyone out there have any ideas as to how I might get the copied movie to play back on the full TV screen? I have tried using different software and decrypting using a variety of presets and filters, and screen out formats. Irrespective of what I do, the result always seems to end up the same. Any ideas?

without going into specifics... not every film has the same aspect ratio, so you will get black borders top and bottom.
the appletv will display the content in the correct aspect ratio. you are probably used to having content stretched and zoomed to fit the screen (wrongly).

Low volume on Ipod Nano when playing through car stereo

I used to own a 4 gig ipod mini, and I'd connect it to my car stereo via a stereo cassette adapter. Well, that little guy crashed after a few years of good hard use, and I bought an Ipod Nano. Only, when I play the Nano through my car stereo, the volume is really low. Is there any way to fix this? I'm thinking maybe the Nano doesn't have the same amplification as the mini, and that's why the volume is low, in which case there's going to be no way to play it through the car stereo. I've tried two different stereo cassette adapters so I know that's not the problem. Anyone have any clarifying thought on this? Please help. David

I use a cassette adapter in the car as well, and also have to adjust the voume on the stereo and the ipod to a higher setting than what I would when listening to a cassette or CD. I've used this adapter with another brand of MP3 player before I got my nano and it was the same as the nano in regards to having to turn up the volume.
In using the adapter in different cars, I've noticed that on some cassette players, I have to swith the auto reverse from say, tape A to tape B in order to get sound out of the adapter. You may want to check the auto reverse settings on your cassette deck, if you haven't already.

You can buy something like this Belkin Cable here, which I use, and plug it into your car's Aux port if it has one. They can also be found in most electronics stores.
If your car doesn't have an Auxillary port, you can buy something like the Griffin iTrip, which allows you to set your iPod to transmit on a specific FM frequency, and you can just tune your car to that station. You can find that anywhere electronics are sold.

Audiobook playlist not playing through

I have an audiobook playlist that does not play through (can repeat audiobook tracks or play a single track on repeat, but not play through the list). I have used this function before, but it is not working now. Suggestions?
To clarify:
Repeat plays a track once
Repeat off plays a track once
Repeat(1) plays the same track repeatedly
I want the playlist to play through in sequence. It works fine on iTunes on my Mac.

I just tried that on my 5th gen nano, and it does seem to work that way for audiobooks. I put audiobooks on a playlist, and tried to play them (on the iPod) both directly and through the playlist. It goes back to the list of audiobooks at the end of each item. So, I think that's the way the iPod's software is designed, for playing audiobooks.
The only work-around I can think of is to change the Media Kind of the audiobooks (the ones on your playlist) from Audiobook to Music. You can do this by selecting all of the audiobooks on that playlists at the same time, and doing a Get Info on the selection (right-click - Get Info). On the Info window's Options tab, change Media Kind to Music. Then, iTunes and the iPod will treat the audiobooks as songs. You'll need to sync the audiobooks again. If you use automatic syncing, select the playlist on the iPod's Music screen (in iTunes), not the Audiobooks screen. The problem is that, since they are being treated as songs, the iPod will not save the current location (when you stop listening) and offer to Resume at that location (later).
