HT5438 Appletv doesn't work with an ethernet switch?
It worked before when connected directly to the modem, but I wanted to use my modem with my computer too for internet, so I added an ethernet switch and connected the three of them to it. My internet works good in my computer, but apple tv doesn't work. It doesn't display netflix or any other option to watch video.

please post your configuration. Are you using a router between the ethernet switch and the cable modem which is connected to the internet? It is important to know where the IP address' for your devices come from. Does the router provide them, our your internet provider? Open System Preferences on the Macbook and go to the network settings and look at the IP address. The go to settings general on the Apple TV, then network settings and look at the IP address. the last diigits to the right of the period should be close to the same number like : 60.132.19.151 and 60.132.19.134. if they are similiar go to Network utiliy in the utilities portion of the applications folder. Open the Network utitilty and select the ping option. Enter the IP address and see if you can ping it.

First of all I might as well start off by saying that I recently upgraded my system to a new build, and so bought some new parts. The motherboard I chose was a MSI z87 gd65 gaming and by gosh is it good to look at, my only problem is that when I install the driver of the disc is that the Killer Ethernet driver doesn't allow me to get internet access (but I am connected to my router).
I have reset windows, reinstalled the driver, restarted my pc, made the bios default and it still persists not to work! I am not sure if it doesn't won't to work with windows 8 because I had to boot from the installation cd. I can't update to windows 8.1 either because I don't have the internet connect/access Nd I can't get another driver because of the same reason!

Trying to set up Apple TV with ATT Uverse. I get errors when trying to enter my WiFi password. One site says that Apple TV doesn't work with Uverse because it uses WPA for encryption. If true, does that mean Uverse subscribers cannot use Apple TV?

No, that's a rather silly conclusion.
There are two options:
stop using the crappy router provided by the ISP.
Physically connect the ATV to the router via Ethernet. -

Deskjet D4260 does not work with an ethernet printer server
I am attempting to attach a Deskjet D4260 printer to a home ethernet network using a StarTech PM1115U printer server. The printer has been connected to the network through a desktop computer, and worked perfectly. The printer server will also work with a different printer (Canon i550). However, it doesn't work with the D4260. The server's port will not go online, and it does not appear to recognize the printer.
This occurs regardless of OS (Windows XP, VIsta, 7, and 8 preview all don't work).
StarTech says there is no incompatibility issue with the server and host-based LIDL printers in general or the D4260 in particular. Does anyone know of any issues, or how to get the D4260 to work with this printer server?Yes, that is how the instructions with the server tell you to install it. The server is connected to the network via ethernet cable and the printer to the server via USB. The server's instructions (as well as those given to me from StarTech support) say to install the printer as a local printer using a TCP/IP port using the server's IP address, which must be on the same subnet as the computer you are installing the printer on. All this I have done. There are a number of settings for the port. It can be raw or LPR and there are other options. I have attached it as instructed, and I have tried both raw and LPR, and tried various other settings. I was able to install a Canon i550 on the server with no difficulties. I was able to print to the printer, and the server, when I accessed it using either StarTech's server management software or a browser pointed to the IP address, showed the server's port on line and identified correctly the printer attached to it. When I attach the D4260, however, it shows the port off line and does not identify the printer. I got this server as a replacement for one that I bought without knowing that, according to its own documentation, it does not work with LIDL orinters. StarTech did not have any such warning, and the StarTech support people said that there should be no problem with a LIDL printer. They told me to consult HP support (to which this forum is the closest thing I can find). It looks to me as if either there is something about the printer that needs to be reset, or the server does not work with this printer. So far changing the driver does something, but not enough to print.

Is it true MS Office doesn't work with Lion?
I just purchased OSX Lion and while it was downloading I began to read the reviews. I saw multiple comments that MS Office doesn't work with Lion. I forced a shutdown on my MacBook Pro because I couldn't see any other way to stop the LIon download. Now with it back on, the download is paused. I don't want to resume it until I find out if it's true about office. Any help?

Time Capsule doesn't work with proxy?
Hello! I have a Time Capsule working with an ethernet connection which is controled by a proxy server. I don't see the option to configure TC in order to download the .pac file, or to configure manually the proxy settings.
Therefore, the internet through TC doesn't work!

ThanksThe blurb about Time Capsule not being compatible with some ISPs is no different from the same blurb that Apple has attached to the specs of all previous Airport base station products. So... if your ISP currently works with an older model Base Station, it will work with Time Capsule. ISPs that typically don't work are ones that use uncommon DSL communications or authentication protocols - often found in parts of Europe and the Middle East.
(Speculation on my part) Time Capsule will not function as a wireless client on an existing wireless network. Therefore, users of an existing wireless network will need to either (a) replace their existing wireless router with Time Capsule or (b) cable Time Capsule to their existing wireless router and disable the router built into Time Capsule. These are exactly the same options faced by previous purchasers of Apple's Airport base stations. -

Okay, here's an update: the DVI to ADC adapter does work with the Apple displays that I have tried, but it won't work with the Formac. I have tried multiple time to contact them, but to no avail... they don't even respond to threats of posting my opinion of them, which is this:

You are going to get nowhere quick with the 6.1 utility in Mountain Lion if this is the only OS you have available.
Look up how to install 5.6 utility under ML. At least then you can see printers. That is assuming you are trying to use USB.
Has this worked ever on Mountain Lion? Did you download the drivers for that printer for ML?
Plug it into a computer directly.. does it work? If it doesn't work locally it sure will not work via the network. -

Quicklook doesn't work with .avi files
Hello, i've got a little problem right here on my mac. The thing is that I used to have Snow Leopard as a OS and quicklook used to work great, it opened all the extensions I used to work with. The thing change when I format my HDD and installed a clean copy of Lion OS. Now quicklook works fine as it used to but not any more with .avi files. I remember that this feature was working great on my previous OS, and it's really important for me to find a solution because quicklook is an absolutely amazing feature of our Macs.
I've tryed to download plugins, restoring permissions or even trying it with a guest user, but no success.
Please help me. If you need more info about specs or something i'll be glad to give them to you.

Going to the local Apple store this morning...
My problem is not uncommon as the board is showing signs of this happening to many others as well. That is where I found the restore and reboot information to try to solve the issue of crashing apps.
I understand that Apple will not "give away the cow", but letting iPhone users know that the problems they are having are being addressed by Apple is a little more comforting than nothing at all. Other wise, all the apps in world are useless and even more importantly worthless, if a person has to reset/reboot/reload just to get them to work.
IF Apple can not address the basic problems with todays iPhone apps, why should one believe that the iPhone 3.0 OS is any better? Using a PC comparison, which is better, XP or Vista. If the current iPhone OS of 2.2. what ever is not working that well (as related to down loaded apps and iTunes), will OS 3.0 be any better?
The waste of time I refer to is in going to the apps store and downloading the apps... Again why by apps if the free version does not work? -
