HT5444 App store says Mac isn't compatible but I believe its compatible

I have a Imac with 2.5 Gb memory, Mac OS X 10.6.8, and It's 2007 and newer. What I check the about this mac option, it doesn't tell whether it's a Snow Leopard or Lion installed?  I feel it's upgradable. Can you tell me what to do?

If you are running 10.6.8, it is Snow Leopard. So what isn't it supposed to be compatible with? Here are the requirements for Lion:

  • App Store says Xcode isn't installed, but it's on my computer.

I installed Xcode on the 6th of August, but now - 23rd of August - in the App Store > Purchased Xcode's button "install" is blue, and install when clicked.
    What's wrong?

Xcode 4.1 was released two days before the 6th of August, and it is the one I installed. Yesterday the App Store said that all my apps had been installed, which they had.
It must therefore be a glich. The problem is that I asked it to download, and it's taking an extremely long time, ranging between 1h 50mins to 1day 20h, so I can't launch it from the LaunchPad.

  • HT1338 App Store says I have six updates but when I click on update tab I get blank white screen

App Store says I have six updates but when I click on update tab I get blank white screen

    That's strange....
Under Snow Leopard (which is the forum you posted in), updates are done through Software Update.  Not the App Store.

  • App store says I have two updates but noting displays

App store says I have two updates but noting displays? any one have any ideals, by the way this is happing on both of my ipad mini's.

    Well, try this instead:
    From Demo:
If you are getting the blank app update screen, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.
I'm sure things will get straightened out with Apple's servers. Just learn to be patient.

  • Had to uninstall iWork trial since I bought the pages app and it wouldn't let me print or save.  Now the app store says I have pages installed but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it.  I'm not very computer savvy and am getting frustrated!

Ooops, guess I didn't need to post everything in the title - sorry!  I bought the pages app - but couldn't save or print so with some online searching found that I had to uninstall the iWork trial which had expired.  I did that - but now I can't figure out how to re-install the pages app!!  The app store says it's installed, but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it.  I'm not very computer savvy - and am a first time Mac user and am getting extremely frustrated!  I e-mailed some help center and they can't seem to help me either.  I would appreciate any help/advice that can fix my problem - thanks in advance!!

OK Apple has stuffed up the demo version upgrade process so the first thing you need to do is get rid of the demo.
That includes getting rid of the files in the system.
The instructions how to do that are here:
Note That where you see / that is the sequence of folders, each nested inside each other.
    User/Library/Preferences the com.apple.iwork.Keynote.plist
Means the User (you, the little home icon, whatever you are called on your computer) then the Library folder inside that and then the Preferences folder inside that.
Lion initially hides the System folders from you so you have to go to the Finder > Menu > hold down the option key and click on GO > Library to see it.

i have an iPad 2 with iOS 7.0.2 and the App Store says that there's an App update, but when I open it there's nothing to update (Facebook was already updating at the time) and it's just annoying, plz help
P.S: I don't think this has anything to do with iOS 7 since I updated it to 7.0.2 long ago and this problem was a long time after that

The notification will remain until the update completes.

  • The app store says i have Angry birds but do not, how do i get read of it?

This is not my email, how do i get read of this app?

Do a search in this Mac App Store forum for pirated apps and you will find instructions about how to locate and remove your pirated app.

  • The osx app store says there's an update but there's not?

    how can i;
    a) find the update, or,
    b) remove the notification?
    it's on the icon also..

Your screenshot isn't showing for me.
But here's something you can try...
Quit the app store.  Open finder.  Click "Go" at the top of your screen (same bar as the apple), then click "go to folder" on that menu.  Type in "/var/folders" without the quotes and click Go.  Back in the finder window, you'll see folders in there with 2 characters (like dq, zz, etc).  Drag those to your trash.  You can also clear /Library/Updates.  Reboot for good measure, then check for software updates under the Apple menu.

  • The App store says mountain lion is installed but it's not

I have a brand new macbook pro. The store says it's done but in the Launchpad the mountain lion icon is still grey and showing a blank downloading bar. Should I restart my computer?

Basically, the App Store is telling you that the purchase is complete and the download is underway.
The ML download is 4GB and can take anywhere from 1-8 hours to download depending on your internet connection speed.  A 1.5Mbps connection will take 7-8 hours, while a 10Mbps will take 1-2 hours.
Open the App store back up and go to the Purchases tab.  It should show the download progress of ML.
The progress bar on the ML icon is not a very good indicator since it's so short.

  • App store says there is one update but none need updating

I just upgraded to Yosemite and under my Apple menu, the App Store shows there is one update needing to be done but when I open the App Store, it shows none need updating.
    This is a week-old MacBook Pro with 2.8Ghz i5, 8GB, and 512 SSD.

Next time that happens while on WiFi, turn WiFi off in settings, wait about 30 seconds or so, then turn WiFi back on. Sometimes you have to do this two or three times, but this fixes that issue as well.

  • I downloaded mac os lion last night but didn't install. App store says I've installed it but I can't find where it is on my computer

why didn't os x lion install on my Macbook Pro?

The installation should have been automatic when you downloaded it.  Do you have the new lion features (like mission control, new scrolling bars, airdrop etc.)?  If you do, there is no problem.

  • TS1538 I have had issues for a week now. Cannot update or purchase from iTunes. Sign in appears then, before I can even input my info it vanishes. App store says I need 24 updates but when I press the icon to do so, it states that my device could not conn

I have restarted device several times. Have unplugged wireless several times. Have done everything Apple has stated to do on their trouble shooting page. Have called Apple seeking advice. Was told for 35 bucks they can help over the phone or choose the free email. I chose the free method and followed what they suggested! Still nothing. I am incensed that they want 700 dollars for this POS and then want 35 bucks for verbal customer service!! I will never purchase another Apple product again if this does not get resolved. I am so disappointed. Then to be told that "for a fee" I can get verbal help. I was told my product warrantee has expired,  I wonder if it expired as soon as I had issues. I am fed up! Looking for window to throw this out of or place it where an automobile is backing up.  I would like the last week of my life back spent trying to fix this hunk a junk!! Oh, they had no problems before taking my money for songs and apps! Why can't they help fix this issue!!

First:  I hope you don't work for Apple as you have some poor communication skills in assistance. That said, I would never in a million years pay you 45 dollars to help me. I think I would sleep with Satan first!!
No one here works for Apple. This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Everyone here is a volunteer. You tend to get from this forum what you bring to it. If you come in ranting and raving and saying you're going to throw your iPhone out the window and that Apple is mean, people are not likely to respond to you with sweetness and light and puppies and kittens.
If you really want help, I'd suggest you take a deep breath and then start a new thread in which you explain the problems you're having, the steps you've taken to resolve the problems, any error messages you've gotten. Stick to the facts. Check the attitude and emotion at the door. People will do their best to help you.
    Best of luck.

For about two weeks i've been trying to get my updates, but nothing works. I've power cycled my phone. Reset my data connection. Closed out apps. And nothing seems to work. If anyone has any tips on how i can get my updates to open so i can download them, it would be hugely appreciated.

Restart: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Power Off slider appears. Power off then power back on.
    If no change...
Reset: Press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for ten seconds until the Apple logo appears. Note: No data will be lost
