Do Not Disturb and Notifications
Push notifications appear in Notification Center and alert you to new information, even when the
associated app isn’t running. Notifications vary by app, but may include text or sound alerts, and
a numbered badge on the app icon on the Home screen.
Turn off all notifications: Go to Settings and turn on Do Not Disturb. When it’s turned on and
iPhone is locked, all notifications and calls are silenced, but alarms will still sound. You can set the
following options in Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb:
• Automatically turn on Do Not Disturb: Set the starting and ending hours for when you don’t
want to be disturbed. iPhone turns on Do Not Disturb during these hours each day.
• Allow some phone calls during Do Not Disturb: When Do Not Disturb is on, calls are silently sent
to voice mail. To allow some callers to ring through, tap Allow Calls From. You can allow calls
from your Favorites list or other Contacts groups you define. For information about Favorites,
see Chapter 25, Contacts, on page 100.
• Allow persistant callers to ring through: Turn on Repeated Calls. If the same caller (based on
their Caller ID) calls you twice within three minutes, iPhone will ring.
Turn an app’s notifications on or off: Go to Settings > Notifications. Tap an item in the list, then
turn notifications on or off for that item. Apps that have notifications turned off appear in the Not
In Notification Center list. Chapter  33    Settings 133

my phone still rings between the time i set the do not disturb. i allowed no one to call, but it still rings. i have an iphone 5 iOS6

Typically, the only way that it will still ring is if you have contacts that have been "Favorited." If you do have "Favorites" then you have two options: 1) Delete them from you Favorites list, or 2) Go to Settings, then Notifications, Select Do Not Disturb, then change the setting for your "Allow Calls From" menu.

  • HT5463 Do Not Disturb feature not working?

I have upgraded to iPhone 5 but no matter what I do with the settings on the Do Not Disturb calls still come through.  Is this a desigb

You have not adequatly described what is wrong. Pleas define "not working".
DND only takes effect when the phone is in standby. It will ONLY allow calls through from those in the group that you have designated. It will not permit any other notifications through, including text messages, imessages, etc. even if the sender is in the allowed calls list.
The built in alarm will always sound if set.

  • HT5463 Do Not Disturb

Is do not disturb working on iPhone 4?

We'll have to deal with this until Monday, when Apple releases a fix.
    See this article they released.

  • HT5463 Do Not Disturb "Stuck" On

I've used Do No Distrub (DND) succedssfully since it was introduced.  I have it set to be automatically in DND mode from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am.  Just the other day, the phone started remaining in DND outside of those hours.  The only way to take it off DND is to turn DND off completely.  I have not made any changes to the phone settings or the OS.  I installed one app about the time this started, but because (as it was the ONLY change) I thought it might be related to this I uninstalled it, and restarted the phone, but it continues in DND mode.  Any ideas?  iPhone 4 on OS 7.

settings - do not disturb - on
Then your phone needs to be locked and screen black.
then you can test it by calling your phone from a different phone.

  • HT5463 Do not disturb in messages not working

    IPhone 6 latest upgrade
I am trying to "mute" a specific a contact from texting me temporarily. When i click on details in the message there is an option to "do not disturb". i turned it on, and noticed a moon symbol next to the persons messages/name. While navigating my phone further a notification popped up that i had a message from the person. so whats the point?

You will want to head to Settings>Do not disturb and check your preferences there.
I suggest switching your settings to:
    Allow calls from>No one
    Reapeated Calls (Off)
    SIlence: Always
Then turn Do not Disturb on to put your new settings in action. Note that Do Not Disturb will block all notifications when on, and does not support the option to stop notifications from a specific contact, therefore iMessage blocking options would be better for your situation.

  • HT5463 ■Do Not Disturb - Silence

How do you turn off silence?  I only have 2 options either to silence everything at all times or to silence incoming calls and notifications when my phone is locked.  I do NOT want any silence.

Make sure they are all turned off.

I restored my ipad but i was unable to activate it because it is askimg me for the apple id and password eith which i originally set it up. I know the apple id although i do not remember ever using it but i cannot remember the password. I have tried everything from reserting my password to trying different passwords but it asks me for a custom question that i dont remember creating.

You need to use Apple's iForgot service or contact their Account Security team.

As kb1951 states, unless this phone was purchased directly from Apple, it is not officially unlocked. In the US, only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones. The message you got generally means your phone was hacked to unlock it...jailbroken...Apple's servers have detected such & are preventing your phone from activating...there's nothing wrong with the activation servers.
You'll need a sim card from the carrier your phone is locked to in order to activate it. If you don't know what carrier, you'll have to call AppleCare in the US to determine this info. Be aware, US carriers will not authorize official unlocking unless you are a customer that used the phone on their network. Thus, there is most likely no way for you to get this phone officially unlocked.
    Good luck.

and you are trying to use  a sim from another carrier
and only that original  carrier can unlock the iPhone

  • Unable to activate :: Could not complete the iTunes Store Request?

Just got my iPhone and i can't activate it.
The error in iTunes is "Could not complete the iTunes Store request. The store may be busy".
It's been like this for an hour. Is the store down or are there firewall ports i need to open?
edit: I was able to download the iPhone firmware upgrade, but still unable to activate.

Figured it out. You have to turn off any Webservers on port 80 and restart iTunes. Then it will work.

  • HT5463 Questions about the "Do Not Disturb" feature not addressed in documentation

    Hello,
I have some questions about the "Do Not Disturb" feature which are not quite addressed by the documentation.
When DND is enabled, will badge app icons still be displayed?
When DND is turned off, either manually or automatically, will Notification Center banners be available for alerts which occurred while DND was on, or are they lost forever?
I guess the main questions is, is DND like an answering machine, which stores up your notifications until you are ready to deal with them?  Or is it a return of the "turn off all notifications" feature that existed in iOS 4, albeit in a more evolved form?
    Thanks,
    - Steve

If you have a schedule set, but activate it manually, it will de-activate at the scheduled time anyway. It behaves perfectly on my 4S, my wife's 4, and both of our iPads.
If you have an iPhone 5, it could be tied to the known issue with automatic time set going Wonky on LTE networks. If that's the case, try disabling the automatic time set and see if it behaves itself.
