HT5467 Integrating Location Services with Settings

I was wondering if it's possible to use location services to have an iPhone automatically change settings based on my current location. I'm planning on buying an iPhone 5 on the 7th (the day it's released here in Korea), and it'll be my first iPhone. I've seen my friends use Siri (on their iPhone 4S over the summer) to remind them to do things when they get home, and I'm guessing Siri understood that and notified them when they got home based on their location through location services. So I'm guessing the phone can know when it's "home."
What I'm wondering, is if that can be expanded. For example, can I set a certain location as "work" and then make sure my phone goes into silent mode automatically everytime I go to work? Other examples could be for turning wifi on and off. For example, when I go home my iPhone uses location services to turn wifi on and automatically connect to my home network. Also, since at home and work I have my computer, I don't really need my phone to check for new emails so often, so could I set mail applications to check less frequently then and more frequently when I'm out?
I'm really curious, but this may all be moot for me anyway, since I'm not sure if location services works here in Korea (I don't see why not, but I never know...). And I suppose another less complicated version of this would be to have phone settings integrate with calendars. I have a calendar set just for everyday when I go to work (about 1:00pm~9:00pm, M-F). If I could set my phone to go silent during those times, that would work even without location services. And it would be more convienient than just a standard weekly schedule since it wouldn't go silent from 1-9pm on days I have off, like Christmas, etc.

Siri can do a lot but not what you are expecting:

  • Is there a way to turn on location services with iCloud

    Basically that.

This doesn't make sense. ...juat sayin'
Location services are a part of your iOS device (or Mac). You don't "turn on" location services with iCloud. You can visit http://www.icloud.com and use Find My iPhone to see the location of the device if you want (assuming you have enabled this from the iPhone first).

My location services in iPod Touch 5 is not working. Any help?? I really want to fix this issue.

You do have it turned on ins settings>Privacy, right?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby wifi routers that are in Apple's database. You do not have to be connected to the network/router to use that router's location. Thus, it appears that the iPod can't see a nearby router that is in Apple's database. Apple continuously updated their database based on info they obtain from iPhones. No one has been able to find a way to inform Apple of a router or correct is location.
You can confirm that by going to place with a know located router like Starbucks or McDonalds

  • Location Services with satellite internet connection

I have a 5th generation iPod Touch. I connect to internet at home through wifi router connected to satellite internet modem and dish (Hughes). My location services always says that it cannot determine my location. Is this typical of a satellite dish connection?
    Thanks

For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database does not included your router.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds

  • Lost location services with new airport extreme router

I have a wifi only Ipad 1 and he use to be able to find my location on my home network.  However, last week my linksys router died and I've replaced it with an airport extreme router and now my Ipad is unable to find its location.  I've checked the location setting and everything is on. Anybody has an idea of what I can do.
    Thanks
    Thierry

There isn't anything that you can do.  Eventually, Apple's database in the sky will discover the location of your AE and start reporting your location.  No, I don't know how long it will take.  This datbase is, for whatever reason, a big mysterious secret.  In the meantime, go to a local free WiFi location and confirm that location services works from there.

  • CMX/MSE location service with 2 seperated AP groups, hence 2 group of SSIDs?

    Hi
We design to broadcast for 8 SSISs. Due to limitation, we should not broadcast more than 4-5 SSIDs per AP due to too much beacon is harmful.
Then I design to resolve the ielssue by separate AP inti TWO AP groups. Group A for SSID 1-4, and B for 5-8.
Can I configure to get CMX/MSE location service to/from client who associated in both Groups?
    Any opinion is welcome,
    Nipat CCIE#29422

    Hi,
Yes, you can configure CMX/MSE to track the services to/from the client for both the AP groups.

  • HT5467 My location services is saying I'm from a different city and state. How do I fix this??

My location services is saying I'm from a town in GA on my weather app but when I go to maps it's saying it can't discover my location

For location the iPod uses the location nearby wifi routers that are in Apple's data base. You do not have to be connect to the router.
Thus, it appears that the router the iPod is using does not have the correct location in Apple's database. Apple continuously updates their database based on data it obtains from iPhones. No one has found a way to tell apple to correct/add a wifi router to their database.

  • HT5467 Does location service affect the speed of my iphone 4?

When Location Service is on does it affects phones speed?

    Hi Isko94,
This shouldn't affect the speed of your iPhone. It's really just a great feature to take advantage of like maps and such you can find in that article.
If your phone speed does not seem up to par, some things to check is your usage, multitasking. Sometimes back up and restore can help as well.
    Hope this helps

  • Integrating web services with BW

    hi BW Gurus,
We are working on Netweaver 2004 and BW 3.5 and u r requirement is to extract data from web service to BW and the web service is built based on J2EE.
I need a step to step guidance of how we can integrate a web service to the BW
In this we have some Questions.
    1. How to enable the SOAP functionality in the BW System (3.5) ?
    2. What are all the settings or configurations we have to maintain ?
    3. Is it possible to use existing web service built using J2EE or its
mandatory to create new ones in BW ?
4 which source system should we use for this web service in order to extract data?
5 Can we use 4 master data objects in this web service
    Thanks and regards,
    shahid

    Hi,
The main TCode for web services is SICF. Most of the services are predefined and they would suffice for a majority of requirements. For extracting data from the web, predominantly XML is used. Here is a link for setting up XML based data sources.

    With Regards,
PS: I am referring to version 3.0B, but the same concept is applicable for 3.5 also.

Ok I got Integration with Worklist on webcenter portal. If you are following this http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_worklists.htm#BEIIBCCI and are running into the same error I had. The one about the Policy Store being Invalid and are developing with Jdeveloper. This is what you do.
    1. Log into the administration server for JDeveloper.
    2. Go to deployments.
    3. click on wsm-pm
    4. select the targets tab.
    5. check the wsm-pm ( i also checked all the ones that were under it when you expanded the selection)
    6. Click change targets.
    7. Select Default server and click yes.
    8. Restart the integrated server.
