Just updated to ios6 on iPhone 4 and location services under privacy settings is ' greyed out' and stuck on.Have tried reset location services which has removed the individual app on/off bars from location services but can't get them back within the apps?

I found out that I have to change my restrictions in settings. That solved the problem

I can't activate Location Services after installing ios& on Iphone 5.... any ideas?

I had the same issue with one of the three iPhones I updated on Wednesday.  There are many processes that are working for people including:
    - Resetting the device several times
    - Toggling the "Dont' Allow Changes" setting under "Restrictions --> Location Services"
    - Disabling Restrictions altogether.
    - Restoring from backup
I was able to restore location services by selecting "Reset" and choosing "Erase All Content and Settings" to set the phone up as new.  When the phone resets and goes through the setup process, I was given the option to turn on location services.  I then restored from backup and was good to go.
Some people have been able to resolve the issue by resetting but only using "Reset All Settings" without having to erase all content, but that did not work for me.  It took a while to get everything back to normal, but it is good to know that there was a somewhat simple solution.

After IOS6 upgrade game centre says my nick name already in use. has reset some games back to beginning, how do i fix

I've had almost every issue you've had.  Finally on Friday the screen blacked out.  It was obviously still charged, since I could hear the message ring, but when I tried to light up the display it didn't light so I was unable to get to it unless I removed the battery.  Then, as soon as the display timed out, I couldn't get it lit up again without removing battery.  I had the same slow movements throughout the display as well as slow text messaging.  Every issue you had other than the alarm clock (that always worked well).
I took it in yesterday and, after over an hour spent there with a 'professional', I still had no answers.  He told me to come home and copy everything from my sd card to my computer, then re-format my card.  Well, my phone didn't even recognize that I had an sd card installed!!  Nor did my computer!
So then I got to experimenting...I removed the card and viola!!!!!!  The phone worked GREAT!  It's never worked so fast!  I then installed my husbands sd card to see if it was my phone's card reader or my card.  Turns out that the phone still worked great with his card installed and it did recognize his card in my phone.  So, my conclusion is that I need a new card.  I couldn't believe the difference in speed of everything!  It's like a brand new phone!
As for the hard reset...I did that over the weekend, before I could get to a verizon store.  It didn't work at all.
I'd say, do the same thing I did and see if that works.  Can't hurt!!!  Please keep me posted.  I'd like to see what you find out
    Good Luck!!!!

  • How do i enable locations services, after originally not allowing?

how do i enable locations services, after originally not allowing?

You have to go enable it under RESTRICTIONS first if you chose against it to begin with.... then you can alter it in the other places... So go to restrictions first, enable it, then you can go to the other places... like the icloud menu > share my location > enable it to share where you are.... or Privacy > Location Services > On.
I think a big problem is you might have it on in one place and then not others and there are different menus for different places instead of just ONE place to enable any and all location settings.  That is what Apple does badly, they have too many settings split up between different menus.... its confusing.

YouTube icon missing after ios6 upgrade

    D-fest,
I was upset about the YouTube app as well, and my initial impressions were that the Apple YouTube app was better, but after using it a bit I realized the Google YouTube app was actually better. Some of the features are initially not obvious (in this case it was a matter of what I was used to), but they are all there and more. It seems to generally work better too.
I don't stream an awful lot, but I have not experienced any wifi drops while doing so yet.

  • IPhone 5: Can't turn on location services after ios 7 upgrade.

When I upgraded to the current ios, location services got turned off.  Now there is a password there, and I'd never had one before.  I've been trying unsuccessfully for 3 weeks with every number combination that I can think of  to get into my restrictions tab and turn on location services.
    Any Suggestions?.

Note: If you lose or forget a restriction passcode, you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it.

  • Iphone4 battery problem after ios6 upgrade

drastic reduction of battery life after upgrade to ios6 . Help

This seems to be a major problem for all IPhone 4 users, apple will definitely repair this in the next update. For know you can:
Adjust brightness: Dimming the screen is another way to extend battery life. Go to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper and drag the slider to the left to lower the default screen brightness. In addition, turning on Auto-Brightness allows the screen to adjust its brightness based on current lighting conditions. Go to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper and set Auto-Brightness to On.
Turn off push mail: If you have a push mail account such as Yahoo! or Microsoft Exchange, turn off push when you don't need it. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and set Push to Off. Messages sent to your push e-mail accounts will now be received on your phone based on the global Fetch setting rather than as they arrive.
Fetch new data less frequently: Applications such as Mail can be set to fetch data wirelessly at specific intervals. The more frequently e-mail or other data is fetched, the quicker your battery may drain. To fetch new data manually, from the Home screen choose Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Manually. To increase the fetch interval, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Hourly. Note that this is a global setting and applies to all applications that do not support push services.
Turn off push notifications: Some applications from the App Store use the Apple Push Notification service to alert you of new data. Applications that extensively rely on push notifications (such as instant messaging applications) may impact battery life. To disable push notifications, go to Settings > Notifications and disable notifications for select applications. Note that this does not prevent new data from being received when the application is opened. Also, the Notifications setting will not be visible if you do not have any applications installed that support push notifications.
Minimize use of location services: Applications that actively use location services such as Maps may reduce battery life. To disable location services, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services or use location services only when needed.
I hope my answer was usefull, if so do not forget to click (this helped me) or (this solved my question), thank you!

  • After iOS6 upgrade iPhone 4s no longer automatically syncs by wifi when plugged in

My iPhone 4S has always synced via WiFi automatically when I plug it into the USP on my iMac to charge. After the upgrade to iOS6, when I plug the phone into the USB cable, it mounts on iPhoto and iTunes (I can see the device), and the photos sync to iPhoto. But the phone does *not* sync automatically by WiFi. I can choose it in iTunes and manually click sync and it will sync. But until the iOS6 upgrade, it would sync automatically when plugged in in my office with WiFi. This is annoying because I often forget to manually sync just assuming the phone is up-to-date because it has been charging in my office with WiFi (as it always did). Then I find myself on an airplane and none of the Podcasts or Music has synced (and no WiFi on the plane to get things from the cloud). This was never an issue until iOS6, and I haven't changed any settings other than a straight upgrade. Is there some new setting in iOS6 I need to change to go back to the old behavior of automatically syncing when plugged into USB to charge in my office with WiFi? Any help or suggestions would be truly appreciated.

Same here.  I have to manually kick off a sync, so have to go to my Mac.  If I forget, I don't have any new items.  I've also recently found that Podcasts no longer sync from iTunes, even once I start the sync manually.

  • RE: Issues with iPhone 4 sync/charge/restore ERRORS after iOS6 upgrade

I saw a lot of people through the forum that experienced the exact issue I have and I spent 4 hours trying to resolve it myself with frantic research.
What helped me get my iPhone back:
This morning I received the message to upgrade my iphone 4 to the ios6 upgrade through my home internet. I accepted.
After the download went through my phone directed me to connect to itunes. I complied.
After connecting to itunes it informed me that my phone was in recovery mode and that I must restore my iphone.
    Yet again, I complied.
After hitting restore and it going through the restore process, it instructed me of an error and could not complete restore. My computer refused to recognise my phone at all and said that I needed to enter my passcode.
My phone then continued to tell me to connect to itunes before it then went a step further and began restarting and just had the apple logo and/or loading circle for about 4 hours. No matter how long I held the home and power button on it just kept doing the same thing and to be honest, I was about to throw my phone out the window.
I researched different tips on here and other forums for hours and pressing all the reset buttons.
I downloaded itunes on a different computer and followed this tip

Re: iOS 6 update attempt bricked iPhone 4s
    19-Sep-2012 12:28 (in response to geoff566)
This is the proper procedure as per HT1808, Unable to update or restore
Plug the sync cable into your computer, but leave it disconnected from your iPhone
Hole the sleep/wake and home buttons down until the phone powers off completely
Set the phone down on a flat surface and hold the home button down
While holding the home button down, connect the sync cable to your iPhone
Continue holding the home button until you see the Sync to iTunes screen (iTunes logo & USB connector)
If you have iTunes running, you should see the alert box stating the iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode
After many tries my phone then told me to connect to power as the battery was dead. After resetting it also had the same apple logo and loading screen.
Finally, itunes recognised my phone and went back into recovery mode. I restored  my iphone with my fingers crossed. It downloaded the new iphone software update as well and before the restore was finished my phone reset once again and displayed an error message. I was infuriated and thought nothing would solve it.
Once again, I repeated the procedure until recovery mode was deteced and restored my iphone again.
This time it proceded a little further than before and successfully restored completely to factory settings and my phone finally switched on like it was a brand new phone.
I then set up my phone and connected it to my laptop and backed it up from there.
It was A LOT of fiddling around and just luck of repeating the same process over and over but this is what solved the issue that seems to be very common at the moment.
Any questions you're welcome to ask. I reassure you, I tried EVERY hold down button reset procedure and every time it failed and my computer absolutely was not registering my phone.
    Hope this helps anyone.

Ajax, i tried the procedure you have given here and it worked first go. Thanks you legend.

  • I am unable to turn on location services after the iOS7 update on my iPhone 5

Relatively self explanatory. When I go into Privacy settings I am unable to turn Location Servies on. The option appears, but I cannot slide the switch to 'on'. This has only happened after the ios7 update.

    Hi dombew,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
To address this issue, I would suggest restarting and/or resetting the iPhone:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If that does not resolve the issue, refer to page 146 in the iPhone User Guide to Reset All Settings:
iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Also, check to make sure Location Services has not be restricted:
    iOS: Understanding Restrictions (parental controls)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4213?viewlocale=en_US
You can prevent changes to privacy settings, including:
    Location Services

  • Hey, it's another "No Service after IOS6" thread!

I know, it's looks like this has been covers before, but I've not read a thread that covers he problem the same as I have.
    Basics:
iPhone 4 was running fine with no reception issues on iOS5.x
Upgrade to 6 and since then service comes and goes very frequently. It can come, go, and come back again in 2 or 3 minutes. Sometimes with 1 bar, sometimes all bars. Inside or outside.
I mean, I've been sitting here typing this on WiFi and I've watched the carrier service come and go 5 times already. It's now settled on "No Service" after being on 4 bars for a few mins, then "Searching" for ages.
So, what have I tried? Well, I've done old network reset to no joy. I've removed the SIM and reseated it to no joy. Ive restore she phone via iTunes to no joy.
    I've run out of ideas...

Reset - hold power/button together until you see the apple logo and then release then wait for the phone to boot back up.
If that doesn't fix it, then you should contact your phone carrier as they handle cellular data.

  • No "Location Services" after applying iOS 4

    Hi,
after updating my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4 I can't turn on Location Services anymore.
Am I the only one with this issue? Are there any solutions?
    TJ
Ah, I found the reason - Location Services has been turned off in the Restriction Options. Weird ...

I had the same issue with one of the three iPhones I updated on Wednesday.  There are many processes that are working for people including:

Some people have been able to resolve the issue by resetting but only using "Reset All Settings" without having to erase all content, but that did not work for me.  It took a while to get everything back to normal, but it is good to know that there was a somewhat simple solution.

  • Kismac stays in location services after removal

I tried kisMAC under Lion, but it is not ready for 10.7(1) yet. After removal of the app (using AppCleaner) it sticks in the System Preferences - Security & Privicy - Privacy - Location Services app list. Is there anybody who knows how to remove it from this list? Thanks very much!
    Rj.

Just found a solution here :
    http://superuser.com/questions/429344/remove-application-from-location-services- in-security-privacy-on-mac-os-x-10-7
    Basically :
    1) Open Terminal
    2) Enter super user : sudo su
    3) cd /var/folders/zz/
    4) ls -l and find folder owned by _locationd
    5) cd <this_folder>
    6) cd C
    7) nano clients.plist
    8) Remove the entries you want to remove from location services list. KisMac should be in this list. Remove both the <key>...</key> and <dict>..</dict> parts each time
    9) killall locationd
Open System Preferences, should now be gone
