HT5470 How can I keep my playlists in shuffle mode?

I cannot get my iPod nano 7th generation to remain in shuffle mode for my playlists. I have to manually hit shuffle each time I want to play a playlist. I use the Nike+ feature a lot and when I start my running playlist, I cannot access the shuffle button. With my previous iPod nano 7th generation I could keep it in shuffle mode (I had to send that back due to a problem and have a new one), but I cannot figure it out on the new iPod. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

If you keep the entire iTunes folder as it was and you're still using the same platform, you'll be able to keep all your playlist and metadata.

Well, iTunes will only transfer content from the computer to your iPod. However, there's some ways to get around this. Read this carefully:

How can I keep a playlist on phone when syncing with new computer?

When syncing my IPhone I am prompted with an ominous message that says "Are you sure you want to remove the existing music ... from this phone and sync with this ITunes library? Music .... will be removed and items will be synced from this ITunes library" The answer is no because I have a playlist I would like to keep on the phone, but add one which resides on the computer I am attempting to sync with. That is not an choice presented, the choices are Cancel or Remove and Sync. Apple should either give more options or at least a better explanation. So how can I keep a playlist on the phone and add one from the computer too? Is it possible to view the phone as a drive and move items around in that manner? Unless you can get the iPod backup file (and restore the iPod from that file on your new computer) from the "dead" computer you will lose all the app data you can export via email.

How Can I Synch a Playlist Without Wiping Everything Else Out?

All right - I am getting tired of this.
I have about 950 songs on my Ipod. In iTunes, I create a playlist that contains about 14 songs by one artist. I want to transfer that playlist to my Ipod.
So I open up iTunes and hook my Ipod up to the computer. It whirs and buzzes for a second or two and then assures me my Ipod is in synch with iTunes. But it isn't, because my newly created playlist does not show up as a playlist on my Ipod.
So I click on "Mike's Ipod" and select the Music tab. Wanting to add the playlist to my Ipod, I click on the "Selected playlists, artists and genres" radio button. I then scroll down and select the playlist I want to add to my Ipod and hit Apply.
You know what's coming already, don't you? That's right - it transfers the playlist to my Ipod and WIPES OUT the rest of the 900 or so tunes I had on the Ipod. When all is said and done, I have an Ipod with a playlist on it containing some 14 songs and nothing else.
What am I doing wrong? How can I KEEP my entire music library on my Ipod AND add a newly formed playlist, without wiping everything else out?

then why do they give you the option of synching only a playlist?
As it states, you would use it only if you want to sync *Selected playlists* and not everything in your library.
If your iPod is smaller than your library, iTunes will automatically create a playlist that fits and select to sync only that playlist.
When would you ever want to do that, knowing that, if you did, it would wipe out everything on your Ipod except the newly installed playlist?
I wouldn't (usually) select to sync only one playlist. You can select multiple playlists and sync them.
I have a Christmas playlist and I don't sync that. None of the music and the playlist itself will not sync.
When I want to add Christmas music to my iPod, I select this Chrstmas playlist (in addition to the others I already have selected) to sync.

How can I keep tracks playing when I'm browsing?

There must be an obvious answer to this question, but I don't know what it is.
If I'm playing an album, but then start to browse somewhere else (as one would do if listening to a CD), the music will stop after the track has finished, and not go on to the next track. (because the tracks are no longer in the browser window)
How can I keep playing what I want, in the order that I want, while I am browsing other music?

I find this to be a problem as well, especially since I know I was able to work with iTunes this way before I installed iTunes 7.3?
I'm reading some other posts which suggest that being able to play tracks from an library subset (genre, album, artist) AND browse other playlists at the same time was never a feature of iTunes.
Since I know I'm not imagining that I used to use iTunes quite happily, I'm wondering is there an option in 7.3 that I'm not paying attention to?
It seems crazy not to be able to do this.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, big mistake, then you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer: File>Transfer Purchases
You may be able to buy a 3rd party program to get any other music off of the iphone ( not supported by Apple).
When you sync the iphone, it will erase the current content and replace with content form the new computer.

How can I keep my child from UNBLOCKING contacts or numbers I have blocked? I know in restrictions when you disable account changes at least on ios 6,this greyed out the iMessage button so the kids couldn't deactivate their text feature.

Here's the issue. Kids got themselves into some trouble on iPods. TeresaBoo, I empathize with your dilemma and have a similar problem. I'm trying desperately to keep my teenage daughter away from a controlling and abusive boyfriend. Of course, she is in denial and thinks it's love. Sure, I can block text messages through our wireless provider, but iMessages run on an independent network. I can block a phone number from iMessaging on her phone, but she can unblock it just as easily. I wish there was some way for parents to create a password to protect settings. The songs can no longer be re-arranged (assuming that's what you meant). I think songs can still be added and deleted.

I spend most of the day on my iMac, with Apple Mail open. Over a few hours, I get dozens or more emails. I deal with them on my Mac as they come in or I have time. Now the same emails also show up on my iPhone and iPad. How can I keep from having the emails sent to my iPhone and iPad when I have mail open on my iMac? It used to be that when my iMac was open and mail on, I couldn't get mail on my iPhone, which is just what I wanted.
I've messed around with mail preferences, but maybe don't know what to set. (I know I can inactivate my account on the iPhone and iPad, but don't always remember to do that.)

It sounds like your issue here is that iTunes can not find the files for some of the songs you have brought into it. This happens occasionally even if the songs have not been moved from the location that iTunes places them on import or purchase. When you try to use the song, iTunes prompts you to find the file, as you have seen.
To find the file, use the information in this article to navigate through the iTunes media folders -
Locate and organize your iTunes files
If you are still unable to locate the files, you may need to download them from the iTunes store again, or rip them from your CDs. See this article for assistance with downloading your past purchases -

You need to set up a separate iCloud account for each person that does not want to share their iCloud data. Yes, I was referring to the iTunes ID not needing to be the same as the ID used for iCloud. In order to set up an Apple ID your children will need to have a valid email address that can be verified by Apple. Apple requires this so they have a way of contacting the owner if there is a problem with the account, such as when you may need to reset the password on the account. When you set up the ID, Apple will send a verification email to this email account and you will need to click on the verificating link in the email to complete the process. If they don't currently have an email account you can just set one up with gmail or another free email hosting service. They don't have to use the account but you will need it to set up the ID.

Now I am back on my Mac. I meant the following: Batch Change the date for a large range of photos, that should have a date stepped in increments.
Select all Photos at once and use the command "Photos > Batch Change".
Then set the date for the first photo and select an increment, e.g. one minute.
Now all photos will get a new date assigned, incremented by one minute, in the sequence you have selected. So you will be able to sort them by date. This way it will be unnecessary to change the titles or filenames.

When I went to plug my phone into the laptop to sync some new songs and things, it replaced the playlists I had made on my phone with the ones already on the computer. How can I get the playlists that I had made on my phone back? I really don't want to have to recreate all of those playlists...is their any way to retrieve those playlists? Since this is PC version using XP I'm afraid you'll have to check in on the PC side.
Caution: just say your using XP Home and trying out the trial. Don't mention the word Mac. PC folks, would make you regret doing that. As much as its so 80's and 90's for such behavior its still around.

First get iTunes on your PC. Then plug your iPod in and go to the music, yo. You Cannot sync playlist if you select to sync your entire library. But you can sync playlists of you choose to sync selected songs.
You can also create a playlist on your iPod just by holding the center button on a song and select add to "on the go". This " on the go" is a playlist and will be transfers to your PC if you plug your iPod in again.
