HT5503 How do you download IOS 6.0 for IPAD

I would like to download IOS 6.0 for my IPad 2. How can I do that?

If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

  • How do I download iOS 5.0 on iPad 1?

How can I download iOS 5.0 for iPad 1?  When I try to do so, plugging a USB chord into the iPad and my Mac laptop, I do not see the iPad symbol in the Mac's lefthand column (which was the supposed step needed to find and click on an update link).  Without iOs 5.0 I can't update certain apps that require it, e.g., Pages and iWriter.  Can anyone help?

Your iPad is not being recognized in iTunes. Try restarting the Mac and the iPad and then connect again and see if the iPad is recognized.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If still no luck, start here.

You must be running iTunes 10.5 on the Mac as well in order to update the iPad to iOS 5. If you haven't updated to 10.5, download and install iTunes 10.5 and that may help with the iPad being recognized as well.

  • How do I download IOS 7 to my IPad?

I want to download IOS 7 for my IPad. I would like to do this through my computer so I do not have to remove my apps. However, when I go into updates in my iTunes, the only selection I get is IOS 8. I do not want to use IOS 8 until it is fixed. So the question is... How do I download IOS 7 to my IPad through my computer?

    You can't.
There is no longer iOS 7 available and no longer anyway to obtain or download it.
The current iOS version is iOS 8.0.2.
I would NOT advise updating your iPad at this time.
iOS 8, IMO, is still plenty buggy and NOT ready for older iPad 2 and 3 devices, as yet.
    DO NOT UPDATE!
I would suggest waiting it out until, at least iOS 8.1 is, eventually, released.

I currently do not have a laptop or CPU. How do I download iOS 6 to my iPad 2?

If your iPad 2 has iOS 5 currently, you can download over-the-air.
Make sure your iPad is either plugged in or very well charged.  Then go to Settings > General > Software Update.

And yet the most common asked for feature is adobe flash.
just compare the posts on this forum alone, can you find a more asked for feature?
You guys been claiming the death of flash since 2007. Yet today Google and Microsoft both are baking it into their browser.
This site was created less than a year ago, http://www.pottermore.com/ by one of the wealthiest people on the planet, and it uses Flash, what is your excuse for them not using something else? Is she stupid? can't afford it? I'd say it's because it's the best platform for the job.
You will also need Adobe® Flash Player 10+ if you want to experience everything that Pottermore has to offer.

  • Download iOS 4.2 for iPad without iTunes

Have been struggling with Network Connection Timeout and couldn't download IOS 4.2 before I found this fix.
I have now (finally) successfully downloaded IOS 4.2 for iPad.
You can download the iOS 4.2 update directly from appldnld.apple.com/iPad/ in your favorite download manager without iTunes.
I'm using Firefox (Win-7) and the download manager add-on.
As the download is stopped numerous times without reason
(I suspect server overload), you'll have to reclick on the download manager box numerous times to complete the download.
Once the iPad1,14.2.1_8C148Restore.ipsw file is downloaded, connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes and press Shift + Update button to upgrade your iPad iOS.
Go to the folder where you saved the download and open it.
    Voila.

A quick question to others here, when i first got my iPad iTunes was saying that my iPad was up to date and it gave a date when it would next automatically check as three days in the future - November 21st. Now it is saying the 28th. Is it normal for it to go to a week like that or is that another item to feed the rumor mill?
By default, after any check for updates the next check is scheduled for 1 week later. You can verify this by clicking the "check for updates" button. The next time you come back to the page for that device, you'll see that the next check date is a week out.

How do I download ios5 to my iPad 2?

You can't download iOS 5 onto an iPad 2, you can only install iOS 6.0.1 as that is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple for it.
To update, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

I want to download iOS 6 to my iPad 2 and there seems that I cannot find iOS 6 let alone download it. Shouldn't it be in the App store??

No, it's not in the store. If you have iOS 5+ on the iPad then you should have a Settings > General > Software Update option on the iPad so you can update directly on it. If you have iOS 4 then you can only update via your computer's iTunes

Having trouble downloading iOS 7 to my iPad 2!!!!!!! Need help!!!! Tried many times and gives me error message!!

If you are using OTA (over-the-air) update on the device itself (Settings>General>Software Update and only available under iOS 5.x or above), try updating it through iTunes instead by connecting the device to your syncing PC.
    See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
Be sure and click on the section entitled "Update your device using iTunes".

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • HT4539 How do I download iOS 6 to my iPad?

I have been trying to download the iOS to my ipad2. How can I do that without using a computer?

If you already have iOS 5+ on it (Settings > General > About > Version) then you should have a Settings > General > Software Update option on it for updating directly on it. If you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
To update via your computer, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases.
