Is there a way to have Apple TV stream music through Airplay to multiple speakers?
It seems like it's only giving me a choice of one speaker system or the other, not both at the same time.

Unfortunately not, however you can select multiple speakers from iTunes on a computer, which may be a viable option if you have a mobile device with the remote app installed.

You would have to use home-sharing if streaming from a computer. Computer would need to be on and running iTunes.

The iPad's Mail app has no provisions for creating groups. However, you can use a third party app that many users recommend.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Apple TV and multiple speakers on Airport express

Hi,
I'm using Apple TV3 and 10.8.3 Mac with Itunes 11 and would like the flim audio to play on multiple (3) airport express' with speakers attached around the room all on same Wifi.
Is this possible?

As my english isn't too good I made a screenshot to show you what I mean.
As you can see in the image below iTunes only shows me the computer speakers and the AirPort Express. But at the bottom you can see that iTunes actually recognized 3 different speaker (Mac, AirPort, Apple TV 2). Why does the Apple TV not show up in the multiple speakers window? Any ideas?

Apple TV Air Play problem Picture and sound intermittent

When I watch a Air Play show on my TV the audio and picture stops for few seconds though out the show. It do not seem to do it on the Ipad 2 screen.
I updated the software for the Apple TV and it still has the problem. Any Ideas?

Then the issue is with your wireless network.
Reboot ATV and router
Make sure router is up to date
Go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC) to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise

Express, iTunes and Multiple Speakers

I posted this on the iTunes forum, but thought maybe it goes here. I cannot get itunes to play music to both my AX units. Airtunes works just fine in normal play. I can switch between each AX network. And the "multiple speakers" option shows up when I switch between the AX units. And I have them both updated to the latest firmware (6.3), and the latest version of iTunes. Still, no matter which AX network I pick, it will not let me play music to the other one. I pick AX1 and it lets me play AX 1 and the computer, but not AX2. If I switch over to AX2, I can play AX 2 and the Computer. But I can't get music to all three -- Computer, AX1, AX2. Interestingly, the multiple speakers window shows all three -- just won't send the music to all three at one. NOTE: My Airport Management Utility indicates that both of the AX units post the same IP address. Is that right? Is that the problem? -- david c

I think I solved it. Not sure, but think so. Checked again with Apple. Dunno whythe first one didn't point this out. Says you can broadcast a single iTunes transmission across two AX units ONLY configuring the second one as "bridge" to the first. What I was trying to do was transmit to two AX units each set up as separate networks. I guess it makes sense. The new tech says I keep the first AX network as is, but go into and re-set the second one using the SetupAssistant. Haven't done it yet, but he says I'll be asked if I want the new to "join" the first one. Think I'll try it. Only issue will be if the resulting sound loses any quality that way. If it works, it's what I wanted....sending iTunes to two different stereo systems (great room and patio deck) at the same time.

AppleTV, Air Play, and DVDs

I installed Mountain Lion on my 2011 iMac and attempted to stream DVDs via Air Play to my Apple TV2 and HDTV, thus bypassing my free-standing DVD player. It was my understanding that Air Play would send anything appearing on my iMac to my television. But when I play a DVD via the Apple DVD Player that came with my iMac, and turn on Air Play, the window on my computer immediately turns into a chess board pattern, that is, alternating black and white squares. If I turn off AirPlay, the correct DVD image and sounds appear. Have tried a couple of DVDs with the same result.

Right, DRM. Makes sense. Sort of, because DVDs play perfectly on my iMac. It is only a problem when I invoke Air Play to the Apple TV2/HDTV. Some sort of glitch. Thanks.

My Air Play is no longer working. I have both an Apple TV and AirPort Extreme. I've tried resetting the Apple TV and Air Play still doesn't work. How do I get the Air Play to work again. Could it be the settings on my Mac mini? Thanks in Advance Mike

My IMac is has updated software 10.8 Lion purchased 8/2011. Unable to air play pictures/videos etc. but will stream Itunes. Is this not a feature I can use with this computer?

Apple TV - Air Play - Home Sharing Problem

I have 2 ATVs. They are both the 3rd generation models. One is brand new and the other is about 1 year old. I also have a newer Macbook Pro and a 2013 Time Capsule. I like having my ATVs connected to my network via Ethernet because 1 - load times are faster and 2 - the year old ATV experiences Wi-Fi drops. Air Play or Home Sharing do not work at all while connected to Ethernet. As soon as I unplug them from the Ethernet the Airplay icon magically appears. This is frustrating because like I said one of my ATVs cuts in and out and I have to always hard reset it to get it to connect again. I have read tons of forums and spend countless hours changing settings on both my computer and router. Has anyone figured out a fix for this?

Not sure about the Wifi issue, obviously it shouldn't be happening..may want to look into your network setup.
For the remote, disable the IR receiver on your Macbook (System Pref - Security - disable remote control infrared receiver)
In regards to the last one, are you saying you can't rent content directly on ATV, not sure what the question was here?

Hi Everyone,
hope this message finds you all in time. The recent Apple TV update 5.1 is terrible. Apple knows it is which is why (thankfully for some relentless user -I have no idea who but I believe it was under threat) they have allowed to sign 5.0.2 again which means you can downgrade your Apple TV 2 and 3 to a 5.0.2 version via iTunes. Who knows how long they will keep the window open but I have downgraded my ATV early this morning. I couldn't post this earlier because I was out all day but I am doing it now.
Here's how to do it:
1) Connect your ATV to your computer via a Mini USB (not included with ATV but included with many other electronic devices) - in order for your ATV to appear in iTunes you must FIRST plug the USB cable to your computer and ATV and only THEN plug the power cable.
2) Download your ipsw restore file from Apple.
5.0.2 (ATV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
5.0.2 (ATV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
3) In iTunes select yout ATV, hold SHIFT and click on Restore
4) Find and choose the downloaded IPSW file in the Open Dialog Box and hit Next
5) As long as Apple still signs that version the Restore process will begin and will take a few minutes to complete.

I am finding it all a little confusing. I like the functionality of the airport express but wonder if the apple tv device allows the same with music and also adds the option to display on the tv?
I currently use an ethernet connection to link my SONY internet tv to my broadband. I watch iplayer and lovefilm on the TV. I want to be able to use Airplay to link my itunes via my iphone/ipod or ipad to the AV system. I have phone connections and optical connections on my AV system but not ethernet or Airplay.
Can I use the apple TV to act as both the video display, keep my options to watch internet TV but also added options around the Apple TV AND with the same device connect the optical link to my AV system and enjoy itunes music?

the appletv will work with airplay audio and airplay AV
the appletv will connect to the tv using hdmi and optical for audio if you want
the appletv when connected by hdmi does not remove other features from your setup it does not have the power to block your current options to watch internet tv unless you don't have enough hdmi ports
