HT5517 changing airplay speakers doesn't work, also photostream
I have a network of airplay speakers that work perfectly all over my house from my iPhone and mac perfectly. I was playing around with my newest generation Apple TV 1080P, and while it finds all of the rooms, when I select another room no sound comes out. I am very confused. Also, I noticed that my photostream has not updated in a while. I restarted the Apple TV and it added another 50 photos or so, but still 100 short of the photos I had updated.
Then this function in Airplay settings is completely useless. It's just a screen. What is the point of being able to select a different room through the AppleTV (with a checkmark), and nothing happens? It was one of the touted features of the latest update for the AppleTV.

Thanks in advance! (this seems to be a dumb problem of the software having a life of its own!)I have been talking to Apple support about this very problem. So far they have asked me to disable both Firewall and Anti Virus software (Windows Firewall and ESAT NOD32 anti virus) - this didn't work. Rebuild my library - this didn't work. Un-install all Apple applications and re-install - this didn't work. I have created a second user account on my PC and from that account (both accounts set as Administrator) I can activate Genius. This suggests to me that the problem is possibly linked to my original User Account, which is the one I always use. I am waiting for the next update from Apple and will post an update if/when the problem is resolved.
What I also notice is about 2 seconds in to Step 2 of the Genius activation, the progress diagonal lines bar stops, and then starts again. As soon as I see this short freeze I know that the activation will fail. -

Mountain Lion AirPlay Mirroring doesn't work on newest MBP

I have a 15" MacBook Pro Mid 2012 with OS X Mountain Lion installed. When Apple TV is available, there is an AirPlay icon in the menu bar. When I enable AirPlay Mirroring, my Apple TV turns into black but sound is streaming. No image at all. I tried different screen resolutions but none of them works, my TV supports 1080p and my Apple TV is 3rd generation with newest software (5.0.2). When the AirPlay Mirroring is enabled, there is a high upload speed so I believe the image is actually streaming. And there is no update for my Mac system. When I use iTunes to play a video, then that video can show up on the Apple TV, but besides that, mirroring doesn't work. My Apple TV has no issue when working with iPhone and iPad AirPlay. I just upgraded my iMac from OS 10.7.5 to 10.8.3. Firefox was my default browser and has all my bookmarks. Now when I try to load a page, the content is all jumbled and doesn't display correctly. I just updated Firefox to 20.0 but it still doesn't work right.
Also, the first time after upgrading, Adobe Illustrator wouldn't start unless I installed Java. Isn't that the program that should be disabled because of security issues? Or has that been resolved?

Change system password doesn't work in WLS 6.1, 7.0
we have problem with changing the passoword for system. and we check the fileRealm.properties
file, the new password is not there. it seems the changing password in weblogic

Changing sound preferences doesn't work until I restart?
So the new mail sound for a particular mail account, I want to change. I change it to "off" (no sound) and when I get an email it still makes the sound it used to. If I restart the phone then it works correctly and I won't hear a sound when I get a new email. Is this how it should work? Changing a setting in preferences doesn't work till you restart the phone?
Well, the 'chirping' certainly isn't a hard drive! I don't know what it could be... the only thing that I can suggest is that you take your computer to your local Apple Store and have them diagnose the problem. The diagnosis should be free as will an estimate for repair (if you're out of warranty).
Something's obviously not right but as the only moving parts in the retina models are the fans, you may have a problems with the fans. As to the problems with the keyboard, let the Apple techs figure that one out.

I have bought new Iphone5 two weeks back, suddenly I observed that speakers are not
working when I tried using a game and then I tried switching it off and on, then I observed
the speakers are working, this happened twice on my phone, please help me in knowing

My hplaserjet 3200 printer won't work. Driver disk doesn't work also. help.
I had viruses on my computer, so I cleaned it out and reloaded windows xp3. But now it's not recognizing my printer, hplaserjet 3200. The driver disk will not work also. I tried downloading it online. I'm getting zip files. Once i unzip it, it's giving me an error message. Help.

HT201836 My Airplay Feature doesn't work lately...
Since the cheaper Apple TV came out my 2nd generation Apple TV doesn't let me stream video from my iPad mini. iPhone 6 Plus, iPod 5th Generation, I got to the Airplay Feature and non of my Devices appeared all of them are connected to the same Wifi network
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

HT204291 AirPlay Mirroring doesn't work after last update
I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro (running mountain lion), an iPhone 4s, and an Apple TV (3d gen). My iPhone and Apple TV work fine together. I can stream video and music without difficulty. My Macbook can stream audio, but since the last update to 5.1.1 I can't mirror my desktop or run video from my Macbook to the Apple TV. The option is there, but the TV screen only changes colors and garbles some text. It mostly looks like a pink and green abstract painting.
Short of restoring the Apple TV, is there anything else I can do?Thanks Brian. I tried using the ethernet cord and it still only works for one account on my macbook - the account that's not signed into the Apple TV.
Wifi versus ethernet doesn't explain why it worked well before the update, but not afterward. Or why it works when I turn off photostream. -
Bash script doesn't work (Also, help me condense it)...
I am trying to make myself a bash script which combines files together based off of a config file. It is automating combining the audio book tracks I ripped of my CDs into chapters for easier reference. My first problem is that even though I used ', cat still thinks that everything is a separate file. My second problem is that it is way too long, any way I can have it automatically go up 1 chapter until a specified number (ie, until the value of the CHAPTERS variable)? Thanks to those who help.

That's a good one. And eval would work with simple examples, but once you have spaces and such in filenames it won't work I think.
If you are going to do this often, then there are too many things that can go wrong with a script that tries to automatically generate the filenames. Even 01* can go wrong.
So if you do have the filenames all in the .conf, then you can replace FILES= with cat and NAME= with >
The actual script doesn't add that much, except checking if it exists (just use > instead of >>) and if it isn't empty (not really necessary) (why did you put a license on that? is that even legal?)
So just use the .conf file as the main script.
