HT5527 II can't find icloud icon in systems preferences (to make an upgrade)

I run 10.6.8

Open the Mac App Store and try purchasing Mountain Lion 10.8. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU with at least 2GB of RAM, and if it does, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.

  • HT5622 I can't find icloud on my system preferences?

I cannot find Icloud on my system preferences.  How do I get it on my imac MAC osx 10.6.8

You need to upgrade the computer to at least 10.7.2. Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Mavericks. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data before upgrading. Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

  • HT204053 I have snow lepard loaded but can't find icloud in my system preference

I have down loaded snow lepard but when i came to use i cloud could not find it in my systems preference

Mac OS X Snow Leopard isn't compatible with iCloud. iCloud needs OS X Lion or later.
First, check that your computer is compatible > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it's, open  > Software Update, and install the latest version. After that, open the App Store and purchase Mountain Lion.
While it's being downloaded, make a backup of your files and check that your apps are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the OS X Mountain Lion installer will appear, so follow the steps. After upgrading, open System Preferences > iCloud, and follow the steps. See > http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup

You say you have iOS6: you can perfectly well pay to extend your free storage as an ex-MobileMe subscriber.
If you wish to continue your current storage level, the instructions are here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5527
Scroll down to 'How do I purchase my current plan?' and expand the section applicable to iOS.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Connecting your MacBook Pro and your MacBook Air will be the fastest way, but you have to spend money on cables and adapters (also, your MacBook Pro doesn't support Thunderbolt).
As you have a Time Capsule, one thing you can do is to start your MacBook Pro and make a Time Machine backup. Then, turn on your MacBook Air and set it up. Setup Assistant will ask you to restore a backup, so select the option to restore the backup from the Time Capsule and be patient. This can take a lot of time if you have to migrate a lot of files

i can't see an iCloud icon in System preferences on my MAC. There is still the MobileMe icon, but shouldn't i see the iCloud icon?

You should only see that if the computer is running Mac OS X 10.7.2 or newer.

I could synchronize my iPad with my Mac Book Pro before replacing the hard drive and recoveing data from my Carbonite backup.

    Is this a common occurence?

  • No icloud icone in system preference

HI, I have Mac book air version 10.6.8 when I go on system preference I don't find icloud icone to click in.
May be when I installed I answered no to some question on icloud , what I have to do to have it in my mcbook air?
    thanks marco

I also have 10.6.8. I have been running ICloud for some time and loving it. I got a message yesterday stating that it has been since 4/17/12 since I backed up to ICloud last. Now it won't let me. I would really like to keep using ICloud. Are we going to have to buy the upgrade each time it comes out to be able to use ICloud? Thanks for any help.

You can't check your usage on the iCloud website - you have to do this from the iCloud prefs pane, which you don't have. If you are only using it for email you would have to be storing an awful lot of messages to exceed 5GB. If you are concerned about this you can download some of them to your Mac and off iCloud.
To do this simply create a folder under 'On My Mac', go to the iCloud mailbox, select some of the messages and drag them to the folder you created. Don't try to do too many at once (say more than 100) and allow time for them to download.
If you haven't yet set Mail up to access iCloud, but are simply using the website, you can set it up as detailed here:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
If you do decide to upgrade, the latest version of iPhoto is only £10.49, though MS Office is more of a problem. But you can go on as you are as long as your Mac holds out - Snow Leopard is a good solid system.

  • HT1338 no icloud icon in system preferences

Select View ▹ Customize from the System Preferences menu bar. If the missing item appears, check the box next to its icon, then click Done.

  • I can't find icloud icon

On my MacBook Pro in Syst Preferences, I don't see an iCloud icon.  Where would it be?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If your profile is correct, then you won't find iCloud in system preferences. iCloud only comes with OS X 10.7.2 or better, your profile states that you are using OS X 10.6.8, if so you need to upgrade your operating system.

  • I can't find the ICloud icon in System Preferences on my IMac
