HT5538 Broke my iPhone so i want to use my iPod touch for imessaging but my imessages wont send
I broke my iPhone and I would like to use my iPod to send iMessages, except everytime i try and send a message they won't deliver. My iPhone and iPod accounts are linked.... so not sure why this is happening. I went into messages settings and made sure my send & recieve was correct and it is. someone help please!!
Do the recipients have an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with the Messages app and are yo calling the email address or phone number they set up for Messages?
An iPod can only Message to another iOS device with Messages.

It sounds like it still has her information on it, so it might be efficient to navigate to Settings, then General, then Reset, then Erase All Content and Settings. You can then set up the phone again, using your information. This way the phone will be yours, officially, and her data and information will be removed.

Yes, but be sure she is on a separate iCloud account with a separate ID before deleting anything. Be sure there is nothing that you want to keep on your device too. When you delete the data from iCloud it will be deleted from all devices signed into the account. Then you can delete the data from the existing account by doing the following:
To delete the contacts, go to iCloud.com from your computer, log into your iCloud account and open Contacts, click on All Contacts on the left, to the right click on any single contact to select it, click on the Actions (gear shaped) icon at the bottom left and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
For Calendars, open the calendar on icloud.com, click Edit on the bottom left, then tap the minus sign to the right of each calendar to delete it.
For Notes, open notes on icloud.com, click on each note on the left, then click Delete at the top to delete it.
For Reminders, open reminders on icloud.com, click on each reminder and press your Delete key to delete it.
For Mail, open your mail on icloud.com, click each folder on the left (such as your inbox), click on a single message to the right, press Control-A on your keyboard to select them all, then press your Delete key. Repeat this for each of your mail folders except Trash. When finished, click on the actions (gear-shaped) icon on the bottom left and select Empty Trash.
If you also want to delete your iCloud backups you can go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage on your device, tap the name of your device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup. -

Attach it to your computer, open iTunes, and deselect syncing contacts and calendars. Syncing your iPod again with the mac will delete the unneeded content from the iPod.

ThanksDeleting an iCloud account only deletes it from the Device, not from iCloud. In iOS 8, the name of this setting changed to "Sign Out" as that is a better reflection of what actually happens. Your iCloud data remains on the server, available to devices still signed into the account, but the device you sign out of the account on is disconnected from the account, and as a result, the iCloud data from that account is removed from the device. It will redownload to the device should you sign back into the account.
The only issue you'll run into when you switch between accounts is with my photo stream photos older than 30 days. When you delete (or sign out of) and account, your photo stream photos are deleted along with the other data from the account in question. However, unlike other data which remains on the server and can redownload to your device when you sign back in, my photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days. When you sign back in, you will only get back my photo stream photos added in the last 30 days (as older photos are no longer in iCloud to redownload). Like other account data, any my photo stream photos on your other devices signed into the account are unaffected by this. If you want to keep older my photo stream photos on your device as you change iCloud accounts, save them to your camera roll before deleting (signing out of) the account. -

my computer got all messed up so now i am using a different user on the computer to use it. iTunes isn't letting me sync my ipod touch 4g. It keeps on saying "This ipod is synced with another iTunes library. An iPOd can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time." I don't think i want to try the erase and sync method because i think it will delete everything. Is there anyway that i can sync my ipod into this iTunes and not have everything deleted?

All iPhones require a SIM for activation, there is no way around this.

Help! I have an iPod Touch 5th generation with iOS 8.1 that I just purchased two days ago. I am of the early 70's generation and this is all new to me. I have wifi at home because i have a laptop. I want to use my iPod mainly for creating playlists and then playing it through my stereo. When I turn my iPod on, it automatically connects to the internet. Hey Evawantsin, turning off Wi-Fi as suggested by Illaass will do the trick, but how are you connecting to your stereo? If it uses Wi-Fi, then you need to turn the Wi-Fi on for music sessions. If through Bluetooth your fine, or do you use a physical connection like a dock, USB to lighting cable or do you just plug in through the headphone port with a patch cable? Also, you can down load the iPod Touch Users Guide for iOS 8 for free from iTunes. It will answer most questions, or at least point you in a direction. Hope this helps. Good luck, Cheers.

For purchasing from the iTunes and App stores, you will probably want to share the same Apple ID. But for other services such as iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud, you should use separate IDs. For example, if you use the same ID for iMessage you'll start getting each other's text messages. If you use the same ID for FaceTime you may get each other's FaceTime calls. If you set up the same iCloud account with the same ID, and data you sync with the account will be merged and the merged data will appear on all devices (i.e., you'll end up with each other's contacts and calendar events). You would also be sharing the same 5GB of free iCloud storage rather than each having your own 5GB of space.
