HT5538 Can't activate iMessage on my iPhone 5S phone number

I recently bought an iPhone 5S about two weeks ago and I have been unable to activate iMessage for my phone number on it. I believe I have tried every troubleshoot step without success. When trying to activate iMessage I get several SMS's telling me this number received my message, but it never gets activated. Though it gets activated for my every single email address. I had it activated for my previous iPhone 4. And it's activated on my iPad 2 and MacBook Pro. Any ideas why is this happening on my iPhone 5S?
PD: My sister is also having the same activation issue on her iPhone 5S. This also happens to FaceTime activation

Trouble shooting iMessage activation.

ITunes can't seem to detect my iPhone's phone number.

I recently upgraded to a 4S (don't judge me, I wanted to be able to use all my old peripheries after my i4 got stolen), and it seemed to install just fine. I'm currently transferring music and apps, but when I looked at the iPhone main page, it says Phone Number: n/a (not applicable). Is this a problem with iTunes? With my iPhone itself? Or could it be a carrier issue? The phone itself can make and receive calls and texts - I've been using it all day.
Any thoughts?

You go to settings >iMessage> then turn iMessages on > enter your Apple iTunes ID then your registered. you can only message another ios5 updated phone or iPad. Good luck.

Can you send SMS by using the mobile data network instead of Wi-Fi? I had the same problem setting up my 5s from a backup of my 4s. Only after I sent an SMS via mobile data network, somehow iMessage and FaceTime got activated a couple of minutes later without me doing anything else.
I even changed my Apple ID password, because at one point I could not log into my account when iMessage asked for my account details.

You cannot.
As announced by Apple from the beginning and as stated on their website, SIRI is only on the iphone 4s and the iphone 5

I have an iPhone 4 !
I can't activate iMessages on it !!
When I'm trying I get a message that told me to verify my connection but I'm connected in 3G and Wi-fi.
I arrived to activate once but only with my email address.
When I go on the iMessages menu I can't choose my phone numer but only my email address.
Sometimes the phone number comprtement not even appears and sometimes it appears grey and with no number in it just "my phone number" wriiten !
I've tried all I find on the apple's site ! I really don't know what else I can try !!
Could you help me ?

Whwnevee I try to activate iMessages or FaceTime on my iPhone, I receive incorrect username or password error although I'm sure they're correct. I also set time automatically as recommend by most threads but still the same.
