  • How do I delete an iPad from my Mac, like I never sync in the first place?

How do I delete an iPad from my Mac, like I never sync in the first place?

I have a pc, rather than a mac, but the process is the same from what i have read on the Apple website.
You can restore to original factory settings as ifyou never synced the ipad with a computer by going to settings >reset (last option on the menu) > erase all content and settings.
Youcan also do it by connecting your ipad to your computer and choosing toRestore it from the 'summary' menu (below the Update option).  I wasnot able to do it this way because it kept timing out with the iPadsoftware update, but it might work for you.
These options may take a while if you have lots ofcontent but once it is done it will just as it was when you bought it,with factory settings.
NB: Note that this process will erase all content, so if you have purchased apps, music etc, be sure to transfer your purchases first!
This process has worked for me and I am now just syncing my ipad with my desktop instead of my laptop.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do you unplug the iPhone from the Mac USB port safely?

How do you unplug the iphone from the Mac USB port safely?

Click on the little up arrow next to the name of your iPhone to eject the iPhone first.  Then just pull out the USB plug, grasping it by the plastic end of the plug, not the cable.

  • HT201342 how do you change your (mac/me/icloud) email address

how do you change your (mac/me/icloud) email address

You cannot change an iCloud email address unless you create a new iCloud account.  You can, however, create an email alias, which is an alternate email address that will receive incoming email in your existing iCloud email inbox.  To do this, see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.  Just keep in mind that once you creat an alias, you can't later use this to create a new iCloud account or move it to another account, even if you delete the alias.

On the iPad from the computer does not make sense. If you want to go from iPad to computer - connect the iPad, launch iTunes, right click the iPad name on the left under devices and select Transfer Purchases.
From the computer to the iPad .....
    Sync with iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Movies Tab on the right.
Click on all of the movies that you want to sync to the iPad.
Click on the Sync Movies Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

I guess you mean whether I would be able to add one of the iPads to the new AC Mac by putting it in Restore mode and supervising it from that Mac? That will probably work. My problem is, that I've done that with the whole batch (60+ as I said earlier) when moving to a dedicated account within my own PowerBook some time ago. That takes an awfull lot of time, because it involves doing manual tweaking per iPad and adding the purchased apps again (in the Netherlands we don't have VPP so that is a manual process).
I would really rather have the settings transfered and continue working on the Mac Mini than starting all over again.

  • How Do You "Move" Items/Applications from the Mac Hard Drive?

    Hi,
As the subject line suggests I need to "move" things from my regular Mac Hard Drive to the additional Hard Drive I installed. My normal (forgive my lack of technical talk) hard drive is almost full. I would like to move things like iTunes, iPhoto etc to my new hard drive (1TB) so that I can free up space on my current more regularly used hard drive. Is there an easy way to do this?
    Ali

There's various approaches you can take. Personally I would try to leave applications and the system on the main drive and just move data files to another drive. Some applications really want to be run from the main drive and will become cranky if you put them elsewhere because things aren't where they expect them to be.
Moving files is often just a matter of dragging them to the new place. Note that if this new place is another drive the files get copied and you will have to delete the originals from the original drive once you are done copying.
Applications can have a complex structure with bits and pieces of files all over the place, some may be invisible. While these can be copied, as I said before it is often best to leave them on the main drive.
Just for your information, you posted your software question in the Apple.com > Support > Discussions > Power Mac G5 > Power Mac G5 (tower) hardware questions area. Your computer information says you are running a Mac Pro and Snow Leopard (which won't run on a G5). It doesn't really matter in this case but if you have a platform specific question in future, for fastest response you might want to make sure it gets into the correct forum.

  • How do you access your .mac email from a PC? We migrated to icloud and need some guidance. Thanks.

We migrated our .mac email to icloud and need some help in accessing our email from a PC.  Many thanks!

iCloud account not necessarily needs to be an Apple ID. Make sure, if you have both, to you enter the correct one.

  • How do you move an iphone from one mac to a new mac when both are using Itunes Match

I have an Imac (Mountain Lion) with two users sharing an Itunes account (Ver 11).  We each have iphones syncing to the computer (and to icloud separatly). I have just activated Itunes match on the IMac and on both phones.  I just bought a new MacBookPro and have activated Itunes match on it so I am sharing Itunes. Now, I want to move one of the iphones to the new MacBook and have it backing up to that computer instead of the Imac.  How should I proceed with synching the phone with the new computer?  How about the photos on the iphone?  Will they just load into the iphoto library on my new MacBook Pro.
Also, can I still synch the phones manually and move over playlist from Itunes to the phone?  I am assuming that when you turn off itunes match on the phone those playlists will be active.  I want to make sure that say, when I am on a plane or have no wifi or cell, that I can still use the phone as an Ipod.  With Itunes match you are streaming and always need a signal.  There has to be a way to retain the simple music player functionality, right?

There's too much above for me to specifically answer your questions, but I'll assume from the title that you're basically trying to sync to a new computer.  So here are some articles to help you.

  • How do you hook your mac up to the tv and get audio?

I figured out how to get the image on the screen, but I can't figure out how to get the audio to come from the TV and not my mac.
So does anyone know how to fix that?

What model Macbook Pro? What OS?, What connector are you using? What connector on your TV?  If you are using Mini Display Port to HDMI or other connector you may need to use a separate audio cable.

  • How do you transfer rented movies from a mac book to apple tv?

I have downloaded some movies onto my mac book pro, but want to watch them on my apple tv. How does one transfer from the computer to the ATV?

I'm pretty sure you can't. I complained about this because I couldn't even airplay a rental movie from my ipad to my Apple TV. The support team game me a free rental for my troubles and said if I want to watch rentals on my Apple TV then I must rent it from my Apple TV. The rental prices and restrictions are bad enough, not being able to stream it to my Apple TV is just ludicrous.

  • How do you defrag your Mac?

    Hi,
I read about defragmenting not being needed on the Mac platform and I have also read about how this can be beneficial.
Well, I am willing to try defragmenting in an attempt to speed up and optimize the system. I am using also Parallels with XP Pro to run software for work.
Can you please suggest what would be the best way to accomplish that?
I would prefer quality software that has a good record track and is reliable. Automation is a bonus as I intend to let it do the job during the night.
My normal routine is to run Yasu every now and then and also clone the hard disk to an external LaCie HD (regularly) and then clone it back (about twice a year).
I am open for suggestions, thank you.
PS: I read good reviews about a software "iDefrag" capable to defragment even the files within the Virtual Machine, do you think that I should consider it?

    I use iDefrag.
    http://coriolis-systems.com/iDefrag.php
The also have a program called iPartition that does non-destructive partitioning very well. Coriolis Systems seems to do an excellent job writing their software in a way that respects OS X. Check out their website for a demo and a list of features.
I use the online defrag (it's quick and easy) once a week or so, and every three weeks or month I run a full defrag. To do a full defrag you need to either start up from another drive with iDefrag on it (I use my external Firewire drive) or burn a CD using the included utility to start up from.
I've been very impressed with this software and have found it invaluable for installing BootCamp on some laptops that had fairly full HDs where otherwise Boot Camp would say it couldn't partition.
iDefrag also optimizes the order of files on the disk and places metadata at the start of the drive for quick access. You can specify or create custom optimization algorithims if you have particular needs that vary from the norm.

  • How do you get your Mac to complete its boot

Well, my Mac starts up but, then it tells me about a memory error and after I hit the okay button it continues for a while until it gets to the Mac OS 9.2 starting up window and then the screen, the mouse, everything just freezes. I've been dealing with this problem for some time now and could use some help, thanks to any advice.

Depress the Shift key during startup. This will disable your extensions. If it boots OK, this will indicate a corrupted extension file. Post back if it boots OK with extensions Off & we can direct you further.
You might also try a PRAM zap. Depress the Command+Option+P+R keys during startup until you hear 2 bongs, and then relaeas the keys.
     Cheers, Tom
