HT5538 iMessage Q -- won't activate - even after following all instructions via Apple site

Trying to get iMessage to work on husband's iPhone 5.
Followed these instructions. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4268 All attempts failed.
Image on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538 shows that the phone number needs to be checked also.  Mine is grayed out so I cannot check it.
I have already activated (months ago) my phone number and email with Apple, but only reason I am questioning how to activate iMessage is because someone tried to send me a message and I never received it.  They had to call to find out why I didn't respond.
I've followed all instructions on the links I've listed above, but still does not activate.

About this iPhone: V 6.1.4 (10B350); carrier AT&T 14.0.
iMessage under settings > waiting for activation; send and receive: email correct and verified; phone number does not have a check after it like the image shows at the above link.
On my iphone 4, the phone number is checked along with the email address.
So I'm thinking there must be an issue with the phone number in order to get iPhone iMessage to work.
Not finding anything about that on the Apple site or Googling either.

Found answer.  One does NOT have to do all the suggestions I've found everywhere on Apple forum: reinstall, reboot, reactivate, delete Apple acocunt, reinstall Apple account, reinstall email, reinstall phone number, restore, clean installs, reinstall previous backup, reset to factory settings, on and on and on with a nightmare of information to try.
All it took was TOGGLING the auto date/time settings on iPhone.
The phone number then was checked automatically.

    I have a licensed academic version of CS6 running on a win 8.1 64 bit computer. The software has been installed for < 1 week and was licensed immediately. Acrobat X won't launch. It shows me the window with a large screenshot of what I was previously looking at. I then have to crash out of it. I tried deactivating and reactivitating it last night and it worked fine. One solution also said to update the software. So I did. Now it won't work again. I tried the following solutions:
    1) Run the patch in windows
    2) Run the acrofix patch through cmd
    3) Deactivate/reactivate
    4) Update software again (no new updates anyway)
    5) Look for and change name of cache.db (no such file)
    What can I do? This is a huge hinderance to my work. Thanks!

    The software has been fully activated including getting my serial number through registration of an academic account, activating my online account, and activating the account. There are, as far as I can tell, no further things that I need to do. By reinstalling the software I was able to get Acrobat to work again, but I am afraid now that I won't be able to run any updates.

  • Firefox will not load Java in Linux - even after following all instructions on net I can find - what am I doing wrong??

    The problem I've got is I'm currently running Puppy Linux on my laptop.
    Now I've tried everything I can to get Java working under either Firefox, Chromium or Seamonkey (I have all three browsers on my computer).
    For firefox and seamonkey I have tried the following -
    downloaded the tar.gz file for java
    unpacked it to /opt/java
    gone to /user/lib/mozilla/plugins and run the command
    ln -s /opt/java/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
    to create the symbolic link to the plugin
    checked that the plugin is executable (actually even tried giving everything full permission to read/write and execute it)
    For Chromium done a similar thing but put the symbolic link in /usr/lib/chrome-linux/plugins folder instead.
    Restarted the web browser, even tried restarting X Server in case the browser is running somewhere in the background.
    All three browsers can pick up all the other .so plugins in that folder except Java.
    When I click check plugins on firefox I get to the page about "Missing Java? - For your safety Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please upgrade to the latest version".
    However the version I've downloaded is Version 7 Update 9 which is exactly the same one that is available as the latest version from Java themselves (it was only downloaded from that link a couple of minutes before, I've even tried re-downloading it just in case there has been an update within those 5 minutes).
    If I go into the Java folder and run ControlPanel the Java control panel pops up and it knows where Java is installed and everything.
    So what on earth is going on? Am I installing the plugin in the right directory? I'm guessing so as that is where all the other plugins are stored and Firefox, Chrome and Seamonkey are picking all the others up fine, or could there be an older version of Java lurking around somewhere on my system that Firefox, Seamonkey and Chrome are all trying to use?
    I've also tried downloading the RPM and installing that into the /usr/java folder and replacing the symlink from /opt/java to the one in the /usr/java folder and still nothing.
    I just really can't understand it 'cos it's picking up all the other plugins like Gecko and even installed Flash in the same way and that works fine.

    Thanks cor-el looks like Oracle need to update their linux installation instructions then. If only I'd have known that before doing all sorts to get it working.
    I now have Java in Firefox, Chrome and Seamonkey :) :) :) :) :).

    My problem is that even after following all of these steps to the T (the steps are here: You are no longer signed into your Creative Cloud applications), including the showing hidden files part, Creative Cloud will still not let me sign in.

    Am I correct in understanding that you are trying to sign in to the Creative Cloud Desktop app, but when your provide your login information, it says it is loading and gets stuck doing so? If this is your problem, we are both having the same problem. After I provide my login information, the loading spinner appears and I get stuck logging in.

  • ITunes continues to crash, even after following ALL of the suggestions offered here. Now what?

    iTunes opens properly, but will shut down (crash) after approximately one minute, whether it's playing something or not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled (even with the help of Apple tech people to ensure I have done it properly). I have followed all steps offered on the link that Apple has to rectify this situation. When I created a new user, it worked for a couple of days, but then went back to crashing. I played it in compatibility mode (windows 7) and it worked, for a day or so, but then went back to crashing. I even tried installing an earlier version of iTunes, to no avail. I give up.

  • I can't burn a DVD even after following all the tips

    I have a nine minute movie created from still phtos in iMovie that I need to burn to a DVD using iDVD 4. I followed all the steps provided online and still cannot get the disk to burn. (I have saved all the images and audio to the hard drive, there is plenty of free space on the hard drive, I have set the preferences to "best quality" and I have a blank DVD+R Memorex DVD to burn to). When I click on the burn button and insert the DVD it checks the DVD and then ejects it with the message "Please insert a blank DVD-R disk". I was able to burn a DVD by dragging the files from Finder to the Toast lite 5.2.2L program and it burned the disk fine. However, when I inserted the DVD into the optical drive it played without no sound (even thought the motion button was activated) and it could not be played on a DVD player. I'm at a loss.

    You need to tell us a lot more about your computer system. See the '' box to the right? Click on 'My Settings' and tell us about your computer.
    The newer Macs (in general) will burn and play both DVD-R media and DVD+R media (and yes, they are different). Earlier superdrives would only work with DVD-R media.
    If you tell us about your computer, we can give you better information.

  • Firefox won't start even after disabling all plugins and reinstalling

    Two days ago I updated my graphics card drivers (nvidia geforce) and it had some problems. I went into live chat support and after reinstalling some files it worked. Right after that Firefox wouldn't open, prompting me to restart or close. Hitting restart would take me the same place. It only opened in safe mode, where I deactivated the plugins related to the graphics card, and Firefox started normally.
    Yesterday it didn't start again, even with those plugins deactivated. so I started in safe mode and deactivated all other plugins and it started. Today happened the same again but now I didn't have anything to deactivate so I could never start it. I unistalled and downloaded the installation file again and installed. The problem remained.
    I went to the page Firefox crashes - Troubleshooting and filled in the crash report to mozilla crash reports page with the ID: 6cf4a525-9152-46f9-96f2-7ef282131023
    The problem looks like it has something to do with the file mswsock.dll, but I'm affraid of deleting it.
    Please help me.

    hello pedro, this crash is caused by the "Media Accelerator" part your nvidia graphics driver. please see if you can selectively disable it in the nvidia control panel or even uninstall it. otherwise please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]], or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in ''firefox > options > advanced > general''.

  • Time Capsule does not work and i can not not mount it anymore, even after follow all apples instructions at FAQs

    My Time Capsule suddenly stopped working, and i can not even mount it anymore. When i ask for a backup, the time machine keeps looking for a disk with no success.
    I tried all the FAQs suggestions:
    1) I change the name of the disk using Airport Utility;
    2) I updated it using Airport Utility.
    Now i can not even try to erase the disk because after to update it, the disk in not listed anymore.
    Now i can just read a "internal disk needs repair" message. that wasn't there before, having in mind that the first response was "there is no space at the disk for a backup".
    What can i do?

    The TC has a fault..
    Power it down and let it cool off overnight. Power it on again the next morning and check if it works.. no luck factory reset.. do all the tests quickly as you have 10-20min before the Temp rises to kill it again.
    No luck it is dead.. give us the actual model number.. A1xxx from the base.
    How old is it?? Beyond 3years they do become dodgy.

    I had the same problem, you have to format your usb device on the same machine. Well, it worked for me.
