Just turn on iMessage... Settings > Messsages > iMessage > On
Note that iMessage uses data (very small amount) so you need a cellular data (3G/4G) or wifi connection for iMessagae to work. Also, in the Messages app, iMessages are blue and standard text messages are green.

One of my co-workers and I work very closely and schedule appointments for one another. To do this you will need a calendar service that is capable of being used with the extension lightning. A very popular solution is Google calendar. the next thing you will need is the lightning add on which can be installed by going to the main menu selecting add-ons then typing lightning into the search bar the first extension should be lightning which when installed will restart Thunderbird and be available by clicking the calendar button beside the close button near the top of the screen. then all you have to do is save the ical file the Google calendar/ other calendar gives you. then open the main menu again hover over the new message button and to one side a calendar button will appear click that and a box will appear. click the bullet that says "on the network" and click the next button. there will be a list and you will be able to select the type that says ical. once done it should prompt you for the ical file you saved. when you select it it should import your calendars and update when your friend updates their calendar. there are add-ons that make this slightly simpler but that is the default way of doing this with any calendar service.

I recently updated a friends iPhone 3 to I cloud , however some contacts have disappeared. These seem to be the ones that were added onto her phone and not her sim. As I have done a sim import. This is the first time she has ever done a back up and sync.

I bought a song off of the itunes store on my iphone but it wont play. I even tried to repurchase it but it says that I already purchased it. I have restarted my phone and turned it off but it still won't download or play. HELP!
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your phone and re-download it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on it, or the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page. -
My employer and I both have iPhone 5. We both recently updated as recommended. Now we can no longer text each other. I can text and receive from other iPhone users. Any ideas??
Well, that didn't work since I am already using my appleID for both FaceTime and iMessage but i did see the option to send as SMS when iMessage not available. so I am now able to send to him but I don't know if he can send to me. It's a start. It is only with his phone. His wife has a Galaxy and they are both on AT&T and she can send and receive. I am on sprint. If that info helps

If you have arranged with your carrier to unlock you iPhone, and they have sent you an e-mail telling you that it has been unlocked and to follow instructions to unlock, then you will need to restore in order to complete the unlock.

What can I do for an Ipod that won't update, won't allow you to eject it, and can't reset either? I can simply unplug it from my pc and after a while it runs down and works fine after a charge. Wanting to clear data and sell but nothing seems to work. The ipod was originally set up on a different computer and with a different I tunes account as well. Would that make any difference?
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

When I connect from my mac via facetime with my friend's iphone or ipad we can see each other and I can hear them but they can't hear me. The mute is not applied, and the microphone seems to work with other applications. Help!
I have same issue in my MB Air with Snow Leopard. It used to work fine but one day I found that the mic mute was locked on. I went to System and ensured mic was working by seeing the bars move. I went to Facetime > Video drop down and it is all greyed out so not active and the mic symbol in Facetime pane has a line through it (muted) and is dead. I have tried everythinng to UNmute the mic. Two way video is fine and I can hear the other party perfectly. Seems like this happened about the time of a Snow Leopard update but may be wrong. Issue is several months old and, well, getting old! I love Facetime with my grandkids etc. who all use Apple stuff. There HAS to be a way to reactivate the mic in my MB Air. Could someone please help??

ive deleted movies from itunes which has removed them from apple tv, i still have them on my ipad, is there any way i can get them back into itunes?
If the movies were rentals then no.
If the movies are purchases and you have the iTunes 10.4 then you should be able to access the 'cloud' option from in the main iTunes page - purchases - (upper right corner) and go from there.
You should also have the option to transfer purchases from the iPad back into iTunes. I don't have an iPad but you can transfer purchases from the iPod/iPhone back to iTunes.

I am trying to set up iMessage so I can send and receive messages on my iphone 5 and my iPad using the same apple id.
I assume that you want to keep the same Apple ID on both devices for downloads and purchases but you just want to know how you can use Messages on both devices without creating a new Apple ID.
On one of the two devices ....Settings>Messages>Send and Receive at>You can be reached by iMessage at>add another email address ... and enter another working email address. After you enter the email address and it is verified by Apple, go to the InBox of that email account, read the email from Apple and follow the instructions to complete the verification. Then go back to the settings and remove your Apple ID email address. You will now use that new email address at the contact at email address for messages on that device.
You can keep your Apple ID email address and use that one on the other device. -
