Try going into store then entring apple ID along the bottom...there's a tap for hidden downloads, slide finger across to unhidden then it should come bak into your library. Hope it works it did for me .

Deauthorizing the computer will only cause you to have to enter a password to play iTunes Store purchases on that computer. It doesn't have anything to do with media thats synced to the iPod, other than the account user name is synced too.

I've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. It is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.

I download, but always saves files of 1KB. How can I save the whole file.

I registered the unlock of QT Pro. I try to download, it tries to save audio file as something.mov, but the file is 1KB in size. It actually does not save the whole thing.

The site is probably using pointer movies which may indicate that the movies are streaming and so cannot be saved. I'd suggest checking with site's support staff and ask if the movies are downloadable or are streaming only.

The old music is still showing up on my iPad. How do I get it back into the library, or do I have to download everything again onto the MacBook air?

There are no more details really. I go to open Firefox (when it is closed) asd it gives me the above message - so I have to restart the machine to open Firefox!

which infers the problem exists and seems to confirm the only way is to restart the machine.
Not being computer literate I cannot tell whether or not you can get around the 'lock/unlock' problem! What I need is an easy 'fix' but there does not appear to be one!!
