You absolutely can just reinstall OS X Mavericks without having to erase and install. The steps to do that are almost the same as the only thing you do differently is that you do not go to Disk Utility to erase the drive. Just go to the Reinstall OS X option and pick your Hard Drive and follow the on screen instructions to get it going. Check out the article below for the step by step process.

iOS refers to the operating system on iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch.
10.9.5 was never a version of a Classic operating system.
10.9.5 was a version of Mac OS X, and is 13 years newer than Classic.

Reset Password starting from Recovery HD
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.
Leave the Terminal window open.
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click  in the menubar and select Restart.
Log in.
If Keychain dialog box appears, select “Create New Keychain”.

Everything ties to iCalendar which never works. I have been unable to fund an app that is independent of iCal and it would be nice to have a calendar app that actually works. If I have try and un-install then re-stall one more time, I'm going to scream!

It never opens. there is no way to delete and re-install it. The general trouble shooting tips rarely work.
If I use another calendar app it won't open if iCal won't open.

Does anyone know of an app which places a limited number of phone numbers along with the name of the person being called on the screen of the iPhone? Our grandfather is 95 years old, and can not operate the small buttons on most cell phones, and has trouble navigating around the phone to make calls. If I open the same document with two different apps on my iPhone does the document get saved twice?

My question is if these applications are able to open the document anytime they want then the document must be available somewhere on the device, where do they get saved? And do they get saved twice if I opened the same document once with iBooks and once with Adobe Reader?

What I do is just email the link of the book to myself. Tap on the book and then tap the box/arrow icon at the upper right. That might work for you for now.

Most would probably work. Scanner tend to support the TWAIN interface which Mac OS suppports. You would not get any of the software on the disc.
