For some reason ibooks won't let me download samples
Does anyone else have the same problem
And how can I resolve this ??

SMS (text messages) are cellar only, they do not use internet connection it's a service provided by your cellular carrier
iMessage can use both internet and SMS, if iMessage cannot send via wifi it will fall back to SMS
if configured to do so. iMessages can only be received by other iMessage users , iPhone, iPad etc
iMessage is part of messages which can be turned off/on and has various setting that can be enabled/disabled
if you message someone who does not have iMessage enabled or has no iMessage your message is sent as a SMS message over the cellular network
depending on how it is configured

I am having the opposite problem. Even though downloads are off in the settings, it refuses to stop trying to download new podcasts. I prefer to manage it through iTunes, but the app insists on doing it all itself now. It is unusable for my purposes in this state.
At first I thought I was really going to like this update.

(Note, mine says 28 days because I have been waiting for a fair bit for this to go away.)

You can't keep changing the ID you use with iTunes, you are limited to once every 90 days.

In general if you want to read paid-for ebooks on your Mac, you need to buy them from one of the other sources like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or Googlebooks and use the free OS X and iOS reader apps which they provide instead of iBooks.

If you didn't make a back-up of your music/movie purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Products may only be downloaded once; after being downloaded, they cannot be replaced if lost for any reason. What country are you in ? Re-downloading music isn't currently possible in all countries (the record companies need to agree to it for each country). If you are in a country where music can be re-downloaded, then if the tracks are still in the store then they should show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Apps that run on the iPhone and iPad are iOS based. Apps that run on your Mac are designed for the Mac OS X. Two different operating systems.
In other words, apps that run on your iPhone and iPad cannot run on your Mac and vice versa.

I have an old iPod Touch with old software that can no longer be updated:
iOS version 6.1.6
I've been searching for a solution to my iMessage login problem for months and tried everything from those frustrating links and all the tips from other users.
Here is what finally worked:
1) Settings > Privacy > Location Services > On
2) Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically > On
3) Reboot device until Apple logo appears
4) Settings > Messages > Sign In

Best thing to do is go to your email, hit reply on any email and find the backslash on your keyboard. Select the Backslash and then cut/copy it into your mail settings or wherever you want to use it.
