HT5567 Does 6.0.1 work well on an old iphone 3gs?

If not is there any way to load a a lesser version like 5.x? currently I have 4.2.1 and many apps do not work with it now.

6.0.1 works, and there is no way to get any other version.

My 5+ yr. old iPhone 3GS is on it's last legs. I desperatly need to "back it up" ASAP, so I can buy a new iPhone, and I really need to be able to transfer my 5 years worth of info to a new iPhone, (a 4S). The computer I used to back my iPhone on when I first got it no longer works, so I was wondering about being able to back my iPhone up to my daughters laptop, but she also has an iPhone 3GS, that's already backed up to her laptop. I know you couldnt back up two iPhones up to one computer, (at least that's what I was told, years ago), but I was recently told by an "Apple" rep that I could "probably" back my iPhone up to her computer without losing anyone's info, if I created a "Secondary User Name Account" on her computer. I'm not comfortble doing this unless I'm reassured more than being told that it's "probably" safe.
Does anyone know what options I have, and if this idea would result in one or both of us losing our info, if we tried to store two iPhones "back up info" on one laptop?
My phone's barely working at all, but I can still access my info, (for now, at least). I really need to do something now.
Could anyone who knows how this works please give me some info?

First, you don't have a 5+ year old 3GS. The 3GS has only been around for under 4 years. In fact, 5 years ago there were NO iPhones; the original iPhone (2 generations before the 3GS) came out on June 29, 2007 - not quite 5 years ago. The 3GS was released June 19, 2009.
That aside, you can sync multiple phones to one computer - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495. boogeyman is wrong. I'm tired of wasting battery on my iPhone 4 to listen to music, so I wanted to use my old iPhone 3GS as an iPod. I read you had to have a sim card inserted in the phone, regardless if it's activated. So I put the old one inside, but when I connect it to my computer, it won't charge, or sync with iTunes. It's definitely not my charger because both of my phones charge in a wall outlet, and my iPhone 4 charges through the computer. Just not the iPhone 3GS.... I'm going on vacations with long car rides and would like to use this. Help please!

Unlocked old iPhone 3GS for use with pay as you go sim in the UK on vacation. O2 sim works while ph plugged in. Unplugged, works short time and crashes. Sometimes won't even re-boot. Software on phone up to date as far as 3GS goes.

I brought an old IPhone 3GS to the UK on vacation for use with sim card. I had the phone unlocked with approval and instructions from ATT. Store in the UK recommended O2 pay as you go sim which works as long as the phone remains plugged into the wall. Once unplugged, it will work for a short time and then always crashes. Sometimes it will re-boot and crash again and sometimes it will not re-boot at all. One store told me to sync with itunes which I did on my Mac Book. I don't know if the sim is defective or if the software of the 3GS is just not compatible with the sim when on the battery. I have updated the software on the phone as far as it will go. Any suggestions? Maybe the phone is too old to use with the latest pay as you go sim cards. I am disappointed that this phone has not been reliable as a pay as you go and I have had to purchase a UK phone here in order to have a reliable phone.

There is nothing you can do. You bought an illegally unlocked phone off Ebay. A lot of sellers there will tell you it is unlocked but the first time you try to update the operating system it will put the lock back on to the carrier the phone was originally locked to. Sorry but unless the carrier it was locked to will unlock the phone I am afraid you have a very expensive paper weight now. You should have bought it from a reputable dealer instead of ebay.

Why doesn't the iTunes Apple ID and password work for iCloud on the iPhone 3GS?

I even logged into this Apple Support Community using my Apple ID and password with no problem. It also works in iTunes. But it still doesn't work for iCloud on my iPhone 3GS. It keeps saying "Unsupported Apple ID - iCloud requires an Apple ID that is an email address (including @me.com addresses)" I even put my email address associated with my Apple account and I still get the same message. I also checked to make sure the OS software was up to date.

Kilted Tim is correct, did you plug it in to iTunes to complete the process? I assumed you would have done so, but I shouldn't have assumed.

Does 10.7.5 work well with aperture?

Does aperture work well with a Mac mini, Lion 10.7.5? was there an initial problem that has been solved? I was about to down load it when I read of some real problems. I have never used aperture. But it seemed like a good application to use with iphoto.

Aperture works well with Lion 10.7.5. and it will offer you many advanced features compared to iPhoto.
If you read about problems, they are usually caused by problems on the particular systems running the applications.
I'd check the hardware requirements. How much RAM does your Mac MIni have? Aperture is more efficient with plenty of memory. You should have at least 4GB of memory, more would be better.
Have you looked at the Tutorials at the Aperture Support page? Look at the information there to see, if you would like to work with Aperture, maybe try it out at your local Apple Store?

Does the iPod Touch work well for web browsing and submitting resumes?

Hi, I am interested to know if the Touch would work well for a specific application. Lets say I'm surfing company career websites and want to browse and submit my resume. Would this work well for that? Usually on a computer, I can upload a Word Doc or PDF resume when the career site asks for it. Is this possible? I was wondering if anyone has tried this and can tell me. For instance, has anyone used the Touch to post a resume to Apple's or IBM's career job sites?

Just to clarify. I'm specifically asking if a web form that allows you to browse your hard drive on a Mac to submit a word doc can also be used on Touch. So if I have a PDF of my resume, can I use a webform to submit it just like on a mac?

With IOS6.X (and all other 3GS users) I lost the FULL GPS function I had when I purchased my iPhone 3GS (I assume its behaviour is like an iPod touch now), I was wondering if Apple have included a fix with this update?

I had two users that were unable to get email from Microsoft Exchange 2003 on their iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4. One other user, however, had no problems after the upgrade. The only difference was that the user with his email functioning had minimal messages in his Inbox.
So for the two other users, I archived email messages to reduce their Inboxes from around 13,000 messages to below 2,500 messages. Once I did this, email started flowing through just fine. I did this to the Sent Items as well, and it worked too. I would give that a try.

Whoever you talked to at Orange was completely wrong. Only Orange can unlock the iPhone.

Does EJB Deploy tool work well ??

at first, i deployed my EJB by using JDeveloper Deployment Wizard. it looks successful.
and then , a process ,i dont know what it is, lock _client.jar file.my EJB never change after deploy....
To change code, i need to reboot server machine.debugging is too crazy work.
does someone know why or same case ? whats wrong ?

Looks like you're using the wrong port number.....use 2481 instead of 1521 i.e:

HI all!
we are currently working on an application having more then 25 parameter (setup) tables and in almost all the pages we need to fill one or more combos from those tables (like combo of all countries,currencies e.t.c).
Instead of writing logic for filling those combos in each page i have defined small pages all containing the logic (and HTML)for filling a single combo....like for filling a combo having all countries in the database i have made a seprate litle page which does that (no HTML,BODY,FORM tages in it just a combo and logic of filling it)..... this way i have made those 25 pages each having a combo....
now when ever i need any of those combos in my page i just include them using <jsp:include> action...this way i only have to add one line in my page and combo is included at that point....
this approach is working fine.....But i have one doubt about it ....as it is a distributed application so if there are 100 or more users accessing pages having those combos then it will let the application down ...as a sngle jsp will load for those 100 or more users (assuming all hundrad pages have one common combo)..and since we are not managing any pool for those jsps therefore a time will come when our server will go out of memory....
so question is can we pool our jsps the same way as we pool other java objects?....or do you have any other good approach for that?

Try using custome tags for each of the combos. The server will hold a pool for the tags, getting, serving, then releasing from/to the pool as necessary.
If you are using a JSTL 2.0 container (like Tomcat 5, the syntax for making a .tag (tag-file) custom tag is not much different that JSP pages.
Or you could use Tag Handlers (java classes that implement from javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.Tag).
