HT5568 Error with Software Update on Mountain Lion App Store

A software update, of Safari 6.0.2 & iPhoto Update 9.4.2, failed with the error:
An error has occurred
This operation couldn't be completed
(NSURLErrorDomain error -3001.)(102)
Is this my problem or their problem?

Hello - yes, the Software Update function is incorporated to the App Store as Updates. It is somewhere written on the Apple page, forgot where. I also do not want to know :-) As long required and recommended Upgrades will be offered in or another way, i am fine.
I also just installed ML, almost during a coffee break and meeting, and continuosly worked, I am so far fine. One application, MindMap, required Java SE 6. Within 2 minutes it was installed. Need two attempts, maybe caused by overload of system now.
The Indexing took some time, but it was within an hour finished.
So far, I am okay with ML - nothing to complain. Some features will be enabled with iOS6 for the iPad and the integration of different functions into the cloud.

  • Downloading and Updating, OSX Mountain Lion App Store

Updated to Mountain Lion a while ago, went to update my apps a few days ago to realize nothing would happen. When I click download or update the box shades and the ‘loading’ wheel in the top left just keeps spinning forever. Nothing happens can anyone help?

    Quit the App Store.
Open System Prerferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
Click the gold padlock icon to make changes. Yiou may be prompted for your admin password.
Select:   Mac App Store and identified developers
Click the lock to prevent changes.
Launch the App Store and try updating your apps.

  • Weird issue with software updates in the Mac App Store

The Mac App Store routinely tells me that I have updates available, even though those are the same updates I successfully installed two days earlier. This has been happening consistently for about a month. (I'm on Snow Leopard)

That's only applies to systems that you own or control. In this case as it is your sisters machine you don;t own or control it.
Having said that if you did use your copy of ML on her machine it would be tied into your Apple ID. So anytime the system needed to be upgraded (or restored in the case of a mishap) she would need to use your Apple ID.
How well do you trust her?

  • Since the last software update for mountain lion I am having a problem when moving screenshots to trash. Now a Finder box appears saying finder wants to make changes and I have to enter my password for every action.

Since the last software update for mountain lion, I am having a problem when trying to remove any screenshots to the trash. A box appears saying "Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this"
I have checked Finder Preferences and cannot find any box that I can 'UNTICK' to resolve this. I sometimes take a lot of screenshots when I am researching something and now find I have to enter my password for every screenshot to be removed to trash.
Anyone got a solution please, Thanks

That is true - I apologize for not being specific - what I was mainly referring to is iLife applications. I have a notice on the App Store that says 3 apps need updates, I look at the apps and they are huge so since my connection is so slow I use my work connection and d'load the files from support to my Windows machine and carry them home, once d'loaded my MacAir states it cannot install, the update must come from the App Store.
I do the same thing for large Leopard and Lion files and I can install them without error, it is just the App Store files that the system stops.

  • HT1349 Redeem Mountain Lion App Store update code

I sent my Mountain Lion App Store update code to the wrong e-mail address and can't recover it, but registered the serial number to my newly purchased MacBook Pro. Can I have my code resent to an e-mail I actually use to redeem it and download the new OS?

  • Downloading from Apple Mountain Lion App Store Hangs 2901 router

    Cisoers,
I have a repating 2901 router failure when people attempt to download Apple Mac OS X Moutnain Lion upgrade from App Store.
The 2901 just hangs following getting a series of ZBFW packet drop failures:
    001928: Jul 26 22:37:18.783 UTC: %APPFW-4-HTTP_PROTOCOL_VIOLATION: HTTP protocol violation (0) detected - session 192.168.223.109:49310 184.25.254.67:80 on zone-pair ZP-PRIVATE-OUT class ccp-protocol-http appl-class ccp-http-blockparam

The failure results in the ACT Light stopping to blink and the SYS Light remains on solid Green and the entire router hangs.
I cannot SSH to it, all logging to console stops and the only way I can recover the router is by powering it off and on again.
This is very alarming as this is a very common download site and I am finding router is hanging consistently and repeatly when people go there.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
This looks like a major bug in IOS.
    Regards,
    John.

    Hi Peter,
thanks very much for the suggestion.
I did a check on the 2901 and the config has very small (default) allocations:
    parameter-map type ooo global
    tcp reassembly timeout 5
    tcp reassembly queue length 16
    tcp reassembly memory limit 1024
    tcp reassembly alarm off
As per your suggestion I have update the sizes (the 2901 has 2GB RAM) moved HTTP application inspection back up to it overides straight tcp protocol inspection.
    parameter-map type ooo global
       tcp reassembly timeout 5
       tcp reassembly queue length 512
       tcp reassembly memory limit 16384
       tcp reassembly alarm off
I have a couple of further Apple Mac's that need to be updated to Mountain Lion so will test download again when updating these machines.
    Cheers,
    John.

  • Mountain Lion & App Store

    Hi everybody,
I updated to Mountain Lion (10.8.2), and I noticed that most of the programs from App Store, refuse to download.
The message that I am receiving, from the launchpad, is to try again....
    Any idea..?

  • Software updates not downloading from App store

    Hi,
I have 9 updates available in the app store. When I select update all or even update one of them, all I get is the whirling ball. I turned off my antiviral software but it still isn't working. Any ideas?

I found the problem. I think the AVG antiviral was blocking the download. They updated it a couple of days ago. I turned it off. But it didn't solve the problem. I restarted my computer. When I opened AVG I noticed it was updating again. Im guessing that they found out that they were blocking updates. Now the updates are downloading and installing.  I still have AVG turned of while I'm updating all my software for Yosemite..

  • HT1338 Receiving Error when I run Software Update in Mountain Lion.

I am receiving the following error when I run software update in OS-X Mountain Lion. The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1100.)
Is this a problem with my MBP or is there an issue with the AppStore servers? Is there an alternate way in Mountain Lion to look for updates if the problem is with the AppStore app itself?
    Thank you,

Apparently a server overload > NSURLErrorDomain error -1100
    Try again later.

  • Software update in mountain lion offers updates for iPhoto and iMovie that will not install

Updated my iMac 2011 to Mountain Lion. Software Update now operates through the App Store. Third Party apps are OK but Apple's native Mac apps eg iPhoto, iMovie offer updates for installation that do not install.
Get this error eg for iMovie but similar for iPhoto and maybe others:
"We could not complete your update.  iMovie is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates."
If you do as suggested, it reloads App Store software update and goes round again...
If I go to "Check for updates" in the iMovie menu it tells me it's the current version.
"This version of iMovie (9.0.8) is the current version."
The badge showing the count of apps requrining an update is also wrong.

Hi, just wondering, were any of Apple's Apps moved from there default location?

  • Software Update in Mountain Lion

I have an issue with how software update is managed in Mountain Lion and hope someone here might know a way to get around it.  I admit this is a niche problem due to the fact that our home business has four Macs to keep updated.
In Lion software update provided you with a progress bar when it went out to check for new software.  In Lion when new software was available you could click on the Details button and receive information about the program AND its size.
In ML, you are taken to the app store and there is just a spinning sprocket while it checks for new software.  This in itself is not an issue, just a different design.  What is an issue for me is the information provided when you click on the details button.  Using HP Printer Software Update 2.10 as an example, when I asked for details and clicked on "more" it let me to a knowledge base article that spoke of updating printer software.  What is missing is the vital piece about the size of the file to download.   Only when I clicked Update did I discover that the file I was downloading was 107.6 mb.
I do not want to have software downloaded or installed in the background when I am working.   I would like to know the size of the file I am downloading before starting that process since there is only so much bandwidth.   Is there a way to determine the size of the file before I download it on each of the Macs?
I realizle that I can go to Apple's Download page and download the new software manually but that defeats the purpose of the Software update program IMO.
On the good side I note that the size of the download using Software update is a lot smaller (107 mb vs >400mb) than a manual download. Apparently software updates are designed for each specific machine.
    Thanks for your advice.
    Jay

    thanks for answer.
Maybe, I mean the folder /Library/Updates
I think this is the folder where Software Update (App Store) download automatic update  (with Mountain Lion)
my folder contains only dlist and extrainfo file, but not the full file of the notification update
I ask this because I disabled the automatic download so I want to know if some update was downloaded (when the option was enabled)
    it seems not

  • HT1338 How do you ignore unwanted/un-needed software updates in Mountain Lion?

Several software updates come available via the OS X App store, many of which I do not need, as they are related to software or hardware I don't have or use.  Is there a way to ignore them in Mountain Lion?

OK..found another question like mine that already had the answer...problem solved.  Thanks!

  • Getting Error Message when trying to use Software Update in the Mac App Store...

    Hello,
I was wondering if someone knows what this error message in the Mac App Store means. I am trying to run Software Update by clicking in the Apple Menu however, I am not able to see my available updates and instead get the following message on the Mac App Store:
I have tried to fix the error by deleting both the Mac App Store Caches and plist files in the user library and made sure that I am properly logged into the Mac App Store with my personal Apple ID.
    What else can I do?

I've been having the same issue. It was all fine until yesterday when I was searching for updates.
Since when have you been seeing this error message?
Last time I checked for an update was about 2 weeks ago and there were no errors reported. However, today I wanted to update iTunes to version 10.7 and decided to use the standalone installer rather than the SU version. Still, I decided to run the MAS Software Update function in order to ensure that my computer had all its software up-to-date and then I get this message. I don't think that me installing iTunes is to blame. Probably, it could be an internet connection problem on Apple's end I am still submitting a bug report to Apple.
Now one question, who is your ISP (internet service provider)? In my case I have Comcast and I am in Florida.
    Thanks for your reply!
