In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

The trick is simply reboot the TC..

How should I be deleting the pictures?
if your Library is a managed one, then your delete-workflow is perfect. If it is not managed, then the procedure is a little more complicated.
Managed means, all master files of your images are stored inside your Aperture Library, referenced means they are stored somewhere outside the library. To create a referenced library you either decide at the time of the import to keep your master image files in their current location or to copy/move them into to library. Or you relocate managed master files to a new place outside Aperture.
Since do not know if your masters are referenced or managed, they are probably managed, but you can check that with the badge-overlay:
Referenced images should be displayed in the Browser with a curved arrow in the lower right corner, as described in this article: Understanding Badge Overlays:
We need to know if there are referenced images, because when you delete the images it could be done in a way that the masters will not be deleted along with your version, also you will need storage outside your library.

I've tried to figure this out, but I must be missing something, when I try to open Iphoto I get this message , I've got Aperture 3.3 and the latest Iphoto, but I am unsure what I need to do when I,ve opened Aperture. I cannot open Iphoto as a stand alone program.

If you believe the message is spurious an SMC reset is justified. Read all the steps:

Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC on Mac portables with a battery you can remove
Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
Remove the battery (to remove the battery - click here: MacBook or MacBook Pro).
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.

Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.

The easiest and fastest thing for you is to reset the printer to its defaults and then just install the printer again following the instructions in the manual when you received it. If you don't have these you will find this on the HP web site.

You can't do a backup of icloud to an external drive. In fact, does your post have anything to do with icloud (you're in the icloud forum)?
What kind of "system backup" are you doing? Are you using Time Machine?
