My laptop had a few problems and it had to be reset to factory settings. Meaning my iTunes was wiped clean and I had to reinstall it. My previous iTunes (and current iPod nano) has 13 playlists, over 2000 songs and a record of plays going back 2 years (which i would like back since a lot of my playlists are play based).
I've followed guides online, and i've managed to get my songs from my iPod to my computer and thus onto iTunes again. But neither the play count, nor the playlists are transferring with these methods.
Considering when I first bought this laptop I had to redo all my playlists and I KNOW how time consuming and bloody annoying it was I'd rather not do it again.
Is there anyone that can give me a step by step guide of how to do this?
I would GREATLY appreciate this, as at current i'm refusing to sync my iPod again as I am so desperate to cling onto the playlists and plays I have, which means no new songs...

I figured a Nano would probably connect in a simpler way than the touch, but only have a couple computers and cables to test.
I've reinstalled iTunes, but not the full suite, and not all traces. I will attempt this, but I suspect its related to my touch. I was able to connect other iphones to my itunes without issue, using the same cable.

To update to the current version (which is the only version 'signed' by Apple). connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases - you may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
You can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button.

Try a soft reset or turn the device completely off then turn it back on again. Also you can toggle Airplane mode on for about 10 seconds and then turn it off. Sometimes that resets the radio signal inside the device.
A soft reset is basically holding onto the power button and the home button simultaneously together for about 10 seconds or until you see the screen flash and it should go completely black. Afterwards, tun the device back on like normally and see if that fixes the problem.

What model iPod do you have? If yo have a 2G iPod. many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

I was due for an IOS update. I plugged it in to the computer to do so, and in the middle of it there was an error which made my phone go into recovery mode. I then had to factory reset, but it synced my latest backup from that morning of contacts and pictures. I lost all my apps. I cannot download apps since this reset. (Though I had been having the same problem of being unable to download apps before this reset as well) It lets me enter my apple password, shows the load bar, and then resets - does not download. Help?!?! My phone shows over 5 GB of free space, I'm not sure what the problem is.

Everytime I go to listen to mmy music and choose a song it goes back to my list of music and won't play the song. My iPod has done this before but turning the iPod off then back on always fixed the problem. Does anyone now what's wrong and how to fix it. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you.

I'd like to clarify the problem. You choose a song from your playlist. but you cannot see the song. But the next time you restart the Touch, the song somehow appears.
Does this happen to all the songs on your playlist, or specific ones? Does it happen repeatedly on the same song(s)? Does this happen before or after syncing?

My iTunes has been trying to autofill my iPhone with the songs but then it stopped and now i cannot get any of the songs onto the phone

I dont know whar to do from here! it wont let me download any of the songs onto my phone and on my phone it has all these blank files where these songs are supposed to be. The system failure on my phone has also returned due to this im assuming.

IPhone 4s update was interrupted and message said phone had to be reset to factory settings. Lost all photos from phone in process of transferring to pc. Copy of my backup overroad that phone and all the old data and photos are gone.

My boyfriend and I share an iTunes account. I just tried to update his phone and during the update an error message occurred saying that his phone had to be reset to factory settings. It said it was an un setup phone and needed plugged in to iTunes. With no other choice, we had to select reset to factory settings. Now, my phone backup through iCloud downloaded onto his and all of his contacts and photos were overridden by mine. His photos were in process of transferring from the phone to the pc while this occurred and over 900 of them were complete when this happened. They don't show up on the pc now either since the sycn wasn't finished. Is there a way to get them back? When we plug his phone in now it shows my name instead of his so I'm not sure how to get to an old version of his backups even.

Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?

If the library file is on the external drive, hold <SHIFT> while launching iTunes. When it prompts to select a library file or create a new one, point it to the location of the library file.
If the library file was on the internal harddrive, easiest solution is to restore it from the backup. If no backup exists, use File > Add Folder to library. Also under Edit > Preferences > Advanced, change the library location unless you want iTunes to move the media to the internal drive.

Sorry, due to the Terms of Use problems with jailbroken devices can't be discussed here.
You can only get help from those people who told you to modify the software, only they know what the jailbreak did to the firmware.

I believe the updates have caused the issue, because it was working fine before the second update released (I hadn't put the first one one until I noticed it had stopped working, and by then the second IOS8 version had came out). They need to do a third update to fix this issue.

If it's grayed out:
Reset Network Settings - if that doesn't fix it, then Backup and Restore AS A NEW DEVICE.
If it's still grayed out, unfortunately that means your Wi-Fi antenna quit, and it needs service.
