HT5569 I have a 4s and i am unable to join wireless networks that I have joined before

I have already tried rebooting and reinstalling the network - still not working

it is not the router - others in the office have no trouble connectng - it is just my phone -- I wonder if this is Apple's way of getting me to get a new phone

What TC do you have? Model number direct from the base is a big help, it will be A1 followed by 3 numbers.. eg
A1409 Gen 4.. The new AC is A1470
    How is it setup?
I need the whole network setup. what modem/router, how is the TC connected etc??
I also need to know what IP the ipod gets, so I can see what mode the TC or network router is working in.

  • My MacBook pro will no longer connect to a wireless network that I've been connecting to automatically for months and I'm not given the opportunity to re-enter the password.

I am trying to connect to a wireless network that I have connect to automatically for over a year. When I try to connect I simply get the following message: "the wifi network xxxx could not be joined". I have moved closer to the router as suggested and I have attempted to run diagnostics without luck, I have rebooted, I have toggled the wifi on and off. I'm at a loss now...

  • Apple TC and Netgear Router behaving as one Wireless Network

Having had a problem recently with an HP 7520 printer suddenly begin to disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network of my Apple TC I have tried several workarounds.
My setup includes a Netgear Modem/ Router (providing wireless network A) which is connected to an Apple TC (providing wireless network B) by an ethernet cable. The Netgear hands out ip addresses to all devices on my network and the TC is in Bridge Mode and provides the wireless network that all my computers and devices connect to.
To try and identify if the issue is with my printer or something to do with my network or routers I tried connecting my printer to the Netgear router (wireless network A) seperate from all the other devices on my network which are still connected to the TC (wireless network B). This seems to have stopped the printer from repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting from the wireless network so it looks like a recent firmware update to the Apple TC may be the cause for the repeated disconnections.
As the printer is now on a different network to all my other devices I would, from all I've ever read about networking, not expect to be able to print from devices on wireless network B to the printer now on wireless network A but I can. All devices are connecting wirelessly to my networks. The only wired link is from the Netgear to the TC which if disconnected stops the ability to print from devices on wireless network B to the printer on network A. It is as if the ethernet connection between the two routers is connecting the two wireless networks together. Bothe wireless networks have a different SSID and different types of security and passwords. Is this normal behaviour? Am I missing something obvious?
    Thanks for any help offered.

Sorry I have to copy and paste to just read your reply now.. stupid site.
If I understand you correctly in effect the TC is a client of the Netgear router so is just another access point on the Network. Rather than connecting to the Netgear via a wireless connection, it is connected with an Ethernet cable and receives an IP address from the Netgear like any other device. Although the Netgear and TC create 2 different wireless networks/ access points it is actually just one network?
Yes, all just one big happy network now.
Any idea why my printer has started disconnecting/ reconnecting approx every 5 mins from the TC wireless network? This has only just started in the last couple of months and does not appear to happen when the printer is connected via the Netgear wireless network connection.
I think you mentioned in your first post a suspicion about the latest firmware.. it is really poor.. downgrade to 7.6.1 and I think it will work better.
But also remember HP is a PC company.. have you setup your TC with all nice SMB names.. short, no spaces pure alphanumeric.. not nasty apple names with horrible worms.. like these, '  and spaces..
Also too much auto .. fix and lock everything down.. mode, channels, etc.
Another question you might be able to help with. Would it make any difference, good or bad, if I just used the Netgear as a modem and let the TC do all the routing functions?
The Netgear must be able to be bridged and the TC has to be able to get authentication.. I am not sure if this is adsl or cable.. but if adsl and your ISP uses pppoe then yes it is possible and routing with the TC is ok.. no better than the Netgear though.. and worse .. much worse if you have PC or games consoles. All of which want upnp which TC cannot supply.

  • I've tried everything and still am unable to join my own wifi network from my iPhone 4s

I have an AirPort Extreme running the latest software. I've tried everything and still am unable to join my own wifi network from my iPhone 4s, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 3G, my girlfriend's iPhone 4. The only devices that will connect to the network are our MacBook Pros and iPads, (1 and 2). I have reset the airport to default settings, I've restored my iPhone, I've even disabled the password. I am still unable to join my open airport extreme wifi network. PLEASE HELP!

Saying you tried everything isn't helpful. Perhaps describing in detail what you've done would allow people to better assist you.
If you're ever experiencing strange problems connecting to any wifi point you can always try resetting your network settings on your iPhone itself. This solves the majority of wifi problems.
To do this go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will clear all of your saved wifi hotspots and passwords, and hopefully solve your issue.
Please try this and respond with your results.

  • TS1398 my friend had her laptop at my house and wanted to connect to my wireless network.  I could not remember my pass word/ Id so she couldn't go online.  How do I find out what it is so that others may connect to the internet when at my home. Thanks.

My friend had her laptop at my house and wanted to connect to my wireless network... I couldn't remember my password and didn't know how to retrieve the info from my ipad.. How can I find ut what the PW is to my wireless network? Thanks

Your password is something you created and is configured in your router. Your router may have the facility to reveal a password but you will have to find that out for your router.
Alternatively, you can reset your router back to factory default which will remove your security settings so you can reconfigure them. This is usually a small button you press on the back of the router. Maybe recessed in a small hole so you need to use a toothpick to depress it.

  • HT1695 Ipad will not find wireless networks that it used yesterday, but MacBook Pro still finds and uses these networks.

Our ipad will not find wireless networks that it used yesterday.   Our Mac Book Pro finds them and uses them.
we have reset the cable modem and wireless router, turned off the ipad and turned it back on.   Turned wireless off and back on.
but it just spins trying to find networks but finds none.
    What do do next?

Settings for wireless network connections are actually stored in two separate places on your Mac, so in addition to the correct advice offered by Jolly Giant, you will also need to delete old network listings in KeyChain Access.
Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access
Locate the name of the wireless network that you want to delete and click it to highlight it
    Click Delete on your keyboard
It would be a good idea to go ahead and also delete the current connection as well in case it has become corrupted. This will clear out the old settings and when you next connect to the network and enter the password, the new settings will be preserved.

  • I am just now setting up my ipad2 and it wont connect to my wireless network. I can't get it to do anything--it is just sitting there trying to connect. Help!

    Hi,
I've gone through some of the set-up and now cannot move forward past the Internet connection screen. It won't connect nor allow me to do anything now that I've entered my password???
    Thanks!

No, you did what i suggested.  If it asks for the password, then you are talking to the router.  That is a good sign. Some folks dont get that far.  What is happening now, is the security in the router is not accepting what you are inputting from the pad, or there is some setting in the router blocking your access.
With all the time you have spent on this, and re reading the previous posts, it sounds like you have done everything that i can think of.
Maybe the trip to costco is the answer, and if so, sorry i wasted your time.
Are you comfortable enough with your router to open its contro
Panel up and look at the settings?  If so, take a peek.  Some routers are set to only allow new devices that are identifed by mac adress.  Others, in the securit section, may have a block turned on.  But if either of those were the case, you would know, because you would have set it up that way.
If you are an experimenter, try turning off the wifi security entirely, and see if you can join the net work.  If you can, then you will have confirmed that the isue js tied directly to theway the router and pad were trying to negotiate the security.
If you can join if it is open, then reset to the lowest type of security you can, get it owrking, then keep moving up until you find the block point.
Glad it is a holiday weekend, so maybe you have the time to **** with it.

  • Upgraded 4s to iOS8 and can't connect to certain wireless networks anymore

I have an iPhone 4s that I updated to iOS 8.  Prior to update, I was using iOS 7 (whatever the latest iteration was), and was able to connect to various wireless networks. Following the update, I am no longer able to connect to the wireless network at my place of work.  It tries to connect, does so briefly, and give me an authentication request (screenshot attached). Blank username/passwords don't work, neither does the network name/password combo.  Choosing cancel will revert the connection back to 3G.
To try and fix the problem, I have "forgotten" the connection, re-started the phone, and neither has worked I have reset my network connections, and it worked immediately after the reset.  The phone was inactive for a while, and upon unlocking, it had reverted to 3G.  When I tried to re-connect, it gave the same errors already stated.
I no longer have a back-up from before the upgrade, so I can't go back to 7.  My wireless connection on my home network is fine.  Nothing has changed with the work wireless since it was working with my iOS 7. It uses a WPA-Personal security, and there are several repeaters for the signal throughout the building.
What is going on and how can I fix it?

  • I have Fios. I have the TC connected via ethernet to the Fios router. TC WAN port ethernet to Fios Lan port. Then I just have the TC create a wireless network that is different than the Fios wireless network. How do I set up an Airport Extreme to the TC?

The Airport Extreme is a 4th Gen unit. I just want to keep the TC wireless name to go further through my house.

The Ethernet connection will be from one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the AirPort Extreme.
Then you can use AirPort Utility - Manual Setup to configure the AirPort Extreme as follows:
Click the Wireless tab located just below the row of icons
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network (Not "extend a wireless network" as many users incorrectly think)
Wireless Network Name = Same name as your TC network
No check mark needed next to "Allow this network to be extended"
    Radio Mode = Automatic
    Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Same setting as the TC network
Wireless Password = Same setting as the TC network
    Confirm Password
    Click the Internet icon
    Click the Internet Connection tab
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and restart the entire network
Computers on the TC network will now be able to move to the area where the AirPort Extreme is located and not have to "switch" networks. This is known as a "roaming" network.

  • Mp 640 and big problems setting up a wireless network

I have the new i3 imac running snow leopard 10.6.5, and the mp 640.
I have spent the best part of two evenings trying to get the mp640 to set up wirelessly.
I have looked at this forum (among others) and followed the suggestions, and installed upteen drivers from the canon website, deleted old ones and reinstalled new ones and nothing seems to work. I`ve tried connecting the printer to the LAN and then clicking on software update in snow leopard but nothing comes up.
I have tried using the easy install function on the canon driver install. Have got to the point where the canon network assistant has started searching for wireless printers but it can not find it anywhere.
Bizarely if I quit the search and open the printers and faxes via system preferences and click on add printers voila there is the "Canon Mp640 series ---------" which I had been looking for all along. Unfortunately on clicking add, snow leopard does something strange, a box flashes down from the top pane saying configuring but it never actually finishes the process and never actually adds the printer.
Other problems I have been having are much the same as everyone else, after trying to add printers the MP640 bonjour scanner service is seen which doesn`t work either (which prompted me to try other things).
Ive tried installing the CUPS driver as well which didnt work and didnt let me look at the printer through the internet browser.
Ive followed the printer manual to a tee, time and time again but nothing seems to work. Im a 100% sure the printer is connected to the wireless LAN because I have printed out the network configuration page.
Im pretty sure the problem is with snow leopard, so if any one has any suggestions could you please let me know.

The MP640 features the ability to connect to your wireless router using the keypad on the printer instead of having to use the Mac or PC to run through the setup. Once the printer is connected to your wireless router then you install the printer driver and then add the queue. Reading your post it sounds like you are going to a lot of extra detail which is not needed.
You mention having the network configuration page from the MP640 which shows what IP address it has and if it is currently active and connected to your wireless network (the SSID name will be shown in the configuration). If the printer does have the correct IP address for your network and is active then you can open Print & Fax and select to Add. The MP640 will appear quickly, shown as Bonjour Scanner, which you also mentioned. But if you wait longer the MP640 should appear again, this time showing 'canonijnetwork' in the Kind column. When this happens, select it and the Print Using menu should automatically change to 'Canon MP640 series'. You can then click Add to complete the installation.
Does the printer component appear when you select to add? And if so, does the Print Using menu automatically select 'Canon MP640 series'?
