I can't load the videos from apple's very own website. the error message that came up was 'the file you are trying to play has failed to finish downloading and can no longer play' (DivX Plus Web Player).
I do not face this problem from other sites.

It looks like you have added a 3rd party video app that is interferring with QuickTime, which should be the internet plug-in that is used to play videos on Apple's website.
I would get rid of any extra things like DivX Plus Web Player and install Perian and Flip4Mac, maybe Silverlight. Those are just about the only extra things you need to augment QuickTime.

Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. If that doesn't work, you'll need to connect the iPod to your iTunes library in recovery mode using the instructions in the Apple support document below and restore it.

urgh... just noticed my previous post said i have mountain lion... i meant that i have snow leopard. no idea why i messed that up!
anyway, i just tried reinstalling snow leopard from the usb key that came with the computer. Then, I installed software updates until it told me there were no more updates. After that, I tried the app store again, and it still is giving me the unknown error. really irked by that. may have to take it back to the apple store yet again, to see if i can figure out why the app store won't work.

What if you can't sign in to your order from Apple Store?

I can't sign in to Apple Store with my Apple ID; I can sign in everywhere else except there.
I have a $1,151.00 order pending, and it's shown there when I enter order number, but then to make changes or correct the address (and many other things) it asks you to enter with your Apple ID. I try this but my order is not shown there.
And of course there's absolutely no email address where you can send questions for such a problem; in fact, there's not even a forum for Apple Store where you can POST a question like the one I'm posting here. (I just posted it here, in desperation, because it's iPads that are part of my order; no where else to ask such a question !!!)
Does anyone know what I could do? I cannot call the phone number because I'm out of the country. I have to do everything via email and forum postings.

Can't sign into apple support communities with icloud apple id

i realise this isn't the right community for this question, but apple don't have a support category called "apple support".
i have that problem where I have an appleid called "frumbert", which I got about 10 years ago. it is and always has been tied to my gmail email address. i used this for about 5 years worth of itunes purchases, then forgot it for a couple of years.
when I got an ipad I also got an icloud account, and stupidly signed up using my gmail email address as my icloud username. it's tied to the same gmail email address as my existing "frumbert" account. i've since made all my itunes and app purchases using my icloud appleid, and it's the one associated with my mac warranties and such.
so two appleid's share the same email address.
i can't sign into apple support commuities with it because I need a new username. i can't create a new username because the email address is tied to an account already (this one, the old one, "frumbert"). An account utilizing this email address already exists. Only one account per email address is allowed on Apple Support Communities. Apple's way of saying you're c-ockblocked!
but I can't also change the "frumbert" account because there's another account with the same email address, my icloud one.
fark! how does one get out of this mess?

I'm having the exact same problem and so are a lot of other people. Apple's solution - shut up and create a new account just for the support community.

You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC by signing with your Apple ID. You can only sign into an existing account on a PC. When I got my iPad I created a new apple ID it was working fine but then one day when I went to the app store and checked my apple ID, as usual it asked for a password, I typed the password in and was very sure it was the right one because i've been using it for a long time. Then it said incorrect password. I tried to type it in again and again and again but it still said incorrect password. We checked if it still exists on apple.com but then it said no apple ID found or no matches to our records or something like that. So I decided to get a new one but still used the same email. I found out that if 1 email is associated with 2 different apple ID's it may cause problems but as I said we checked if the old one still existed on apple.com it said it didn't so I thought it was fine to use the email again. After that the app store was working fine. I can install games and apps. I knew I had to sign in to iMessage and FaceTime again because of the I got a new apple ID but whenever I try signing in, it always says "Incorrect password" and sometimes "check you internet connection". I've tried signing in over and over again but nothing worked I still can't sign jn to iMessage and Facetime. What do you think I should do?

I'm using their account and will continue to reset their password and settings until they either get the message or Apple do something about it and disable or migrate their account so that I can use MY OWN email address for my own purposes.
I don't want to be informed about Apple products and services for someone else on my email account.

All I am asking you to do is migrate their apple ID to their alternate email account settings and free up my email address so that:
A. I can use it and B. I stop getting messages about their account history.
Either that or just cancel their account as they have no right to use my personal details.
Yes I could set up a new email address but WHY THE **** should I? I've been using this email account for years for personal stuff, it's not mu fault if someone can sign it up as an AppleID without me being able to confirm their sign up process!
