I have forgotten my passcode for ipad and itunes is asking passcode to be entered - even after following directions for computers not synced... multiple times, but iTunes is not "detecting a device in recovery mode." What do I do now?

This will very likley result in loss of data.
Plug the iPhone into the computer.
Ensure that it is running the latest version of iTunes and that it has access to the internet.
Press and hold both the home and sleep/wake buttons for exactly eight seconds.
Release only the sleep/wake button but continue to hold the home button for another five seconds.
Let go of the home button, then look at the computer screen for an instructional popup.
The popup should say "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode. . .(etc)" Click accept to all boxes and let iTunes download and install all of the latest device Firmware and Software.
If no popup appears, repeat the above DFU instructions. If you've never done a DFU, it may take about three attempts to get the timing right.

Just go to http://appleid.apple.com and create a new Apple ID for each kid - note that you will need a different associated email address for each ID, and different from your own, but you can use free addresses such as Yahoo.
Then start a new iCloud account for each using the IDs. You will need to have a separate user account on your Mac for each kid (you should be doing this anyway, and they should be non-admin accounts) and then you can enter the ID in System Preferences>iCloud and create a new @me.com address in each case.
Alternatively you could create up to three email aliases on your own account - these are addresses, not accounts, and deliver into your main inbox alonside your mail, so everyone will be able to see everyone else's mail, which may well not be what you want.

Can't create a JAXB binding for ejb-jar.xml using xjc

Hi all,
I have been trying to build a JAXB binding for EJB deployment descriptors, mainly because I have to update a hand-cranked ejb-jar.xml file on the fly with some additions that have come from a code generator.
I have tried to use
xjc ejb-jar_2_1.xsd j2ee_1_4.xsd ejb-jar_2_1.xsd
xjc on the schema definitions I found at http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/ but I can't get it to work. It produces reams of errors, see below for a short extract.
Of course, someone could put me out of my misery and tell me where to find a binding that someone else has done. I can't be the first chimp on the planet that has wanted to do this!
Any help much appreciated.

SADLY not as i downloaded an upgrad to my original PAGES/
i have in the meantim had to open www.icloud. then from there import the file that i am working on and then check on ipad if it uploaded/ yes it did.
but what a waste of time as it doesn not save any changes done automatically back in the cloud....
i am now downloading the new LION and hope that it will fix the problem
i cant find any other way. I was lead to believe that you wrote, it saved automatically, on to the cloud, you then opened anohter device in anotother country even, and the new file was there, waiting, in its latest version.......
and the same magic was supposed to happen in reverse.

if i have to open a browser, go to www.icloud....why on earth did they not just leave us an icon to drop it in in that case?

How can i remove un/pw for wifi when teachers use their own logins for wifi connection.

I work at a public school district and each of our teachers have ipads. They user their usernames and passwords to connect to our networks wifi. I am needing to remove the username and password of last years teachers so the new teacher can sign in with theirs. I tried the suggestion of: Settings, General, Reset and Reset all Networks but when I go back i to sign into the wifi connection it is still automatically connecting to the previous users.

Have you talked with your networking it specialist? Perhaps the router is keying off the MAC address.

I can't help but feel there's some detail missing from your question, otherwise the answer is to just do this the way you have been doing it so far. The wording of your comment suggests you still want to do this for her.

New to FiOS, can I use my own modem and router

I saw several questions similar to mine, but none that I saw answered my question for my scenario. I am sorry if this is a duplicate. I am new to FiOS. I have no other services from Verizon and do not plan to get any. No phone, no television, nothing. Just Internet. God willing, the installation will take place in two days. My house already has coaxial cabling. I have my own cable modem, a SURFboard SB6121, which goes to my router, a TP Link TL-WR941ND. None of my equipment advertises that it is FiOS compatible. I've seen other people asking about using their own modem and router, but in those cases the scenario involved other bundled services, and I understand a FiOS router is necessary to forward ports to television, phone, and computers. However, in my very simple scenario, can the Verizon optical network terminal simply feed its output to my coax, from there to my modem, then router, then comptuers? Is there any reason that wouldn't work? Verizon technical support just gave me a machine that wanted to help me troubleshoot my Internet connection, and I couldn't get from there to a human. Thanks in advance for the help!

Banish the word and the device called "modem" from your home when using FiOS. FiOS does not use modems. Your cable modem is useless with FiOS. Do not plug it in. FiOS uses routers. The router connects to the ONT's WAN port using MoCA (coax) or Ethernet. The installer will enable one of the ONT's WAN ports. If you order 150Mbps or higher speeds, they will have to use Ethernet. For slower speeds, coax is the default. Many installers will use Ethernet if you ask nicely, but usually only if it isn't too much work. Make sure it's easy to connect a router to the ONT using Ethernet, and you should be okay. If Ethernet needs to be run through the walls, your best choice is get it done ahead of time. You can always call later and get the ONT's WAN port switched. The only routers available with a MoCA WAN port are the Verizon models. The Verizon routers are good devices for most users. People who like to tweak their networking gear don't like them as many advanced features are limited or locked down. You can't run any other router firmware on them. WiFi range is decent, but not great. I'm quite happy with my Quantum router. YMMV. If you get Ethernet WAN enabled, you can use any router you want. However, know that Verizon provides zero support for any other router. They won't even mention it as an option. That doesn't mean you can't use one, simply that you must do so without Verizon's help. There are reports that they won't even complete an install without one of their routers to verify service. If you don't use one of their routers, consider renting one for a month to complete the install or even buying a used one. If you own a Verizon router, you can install it if you ever suspect Verizon networking issues. This will allow you to call their support. Any one device can create only three iCloud accounts; if your phone has already created three then it can never create any more - this is tied to the hardware, not the user account. You can create an iCloud account on another iOS device or a Mac and then you will be able to sign into that on your phone.

Thanks... I appreciate the reply. Since I wrote the previous email, I actually went and changed my apple id (the main id) and the documentation I looked at said iCloud will set mail up automatically(?)... I had it working before.
Also, I tried to manually set up the ID via the Mail Accounts screen(s) and I can't figure out what my server information is... Pop or Imap? What's the outgoing server and the incoming server?
I typically have never had problems setting up mail accounts (in apple mail) with no problem.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The first step would probably be to contact iTunes support as you're being told to do.

Of course.
To create the first iCloud account, open Settings > iCloud, type your Apple ID and follow the steps to set up iCloud.
Then, to add a second iCloud account, open Settings > Mail, Contacts & Calendars > Add Account > iCloud, type the second Apple ID and set up iCloud for this Apple ID.
Note that one iCloud account will work as the primary account and the other one as the secondary account. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4020
