HT5622 Can't sign up for iCloud because ID is tied to old email

The Apple ID I've been using for the last six years is tied to an old email that I can't remember the password for anymore. This means that I've never been able to sign up for iCloud because I have no way of clicking the verification email. I've never cared until Yosemite came out and has all these awesome features that need iCloud to work. This is the ID i've go my iPhone using. Is there like a procedure to get and ID switched to a new email?

You can change the primary email account associated with your Apple ID to a new email account which you have access to as explained here: Change your Apple ID.  Once you've done that, you can create your iCloud account by going to System Preferences>iCloud, signing in with the ID, then checking the items you want to sync with iCloud.  Once you have created the account on your Mac, go to Settings>iCloud on your iOS devices, sign in with the same ID, then turn on the items that you want to sync with iCloud.  There are more details on setting up iCloud here: https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html.
If you are sign into the old ID for other services, you'll need to sign out, then sign back in with the updated ID.  For example, if you are signed into the old ID for iMessage on your phone, you would go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with the updated ID.

  • How can i sign up for icloud on pc

So i lost my phone but never made an icloud account, now i want to find it using "find my iphone" but I need an i cloud account. How can I sign up for icloud on pc?

It is too late to open an iCloud account and use that to find a lost iPhone.  Ou had to have turned on Settings, iCloud, Find My Phone before it was lost and you must have had an iCloud account where it was registered before it was lost.
At this point there is no way to locate it.

...... iCloud does not do that, you need iTunes Match, which does and works on a PC.

No.  You can only create an iCloud account on an iOS device or Mac.

  • HT4436 Can I sign up for iCloud using a different iPhone

I lost my iPhone just now. I haven't turn in the iCloud feature from my phone. Now, when I try to log in to find my iPhone app with my apple ID it's saying that apple ID is valud but no iCloud account. How do I sign up for an iCloud account using a different iPhone or computer?

If you want to sign in to your existing iCloud account on the other device follow this steps...
iPhone/iPad: Settings > iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account... > iCloud
Mac: System Preferences > iCloud or System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > + to add an account... > iCloud

It seems like http://help.apple.com/icloud/index.html#mmfc0f1e2a indicates that it is possible to set up iCloud on a PC. (It is a supported device.)
No, you can only sign into an existing iCloud account on a PC, you cannot create one.  Note that it says in step 2 here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html, "Enter the ID you used to create the account...", not Enter the ID to create the account.  Also note that it states here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455, "Note: To create an iCloud account you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later."
Someone who has an iCloud account can send you photos by creating a shared photo stream enabling the Public Website option.  This would give you a link to view the photos on the internet from your computer browser.  There are also other cloud alternatives you could use to share photos such as Dropbox.

  • HT1349 I don't have an Apple product. I accidentally signed up for iCloud because I thought I could use it with my iTunes on my PC. Now it won't go away. I have deleted the software but every time I open iTunes it demands I reopen my iCloud session. Help.

I want to get rid of iCloud. I do not currently have an Apple product but thought I could use it with iTunes and my PC. I have deleted the software. I told iTunes to take it off my account, but every time I open iTunes there it is again, asking me to log into iCloud. I can't get Apple support because I don't have an Apple product. I don't know how to get rid of this!

This is for a Mac, but may be similar for a PC.

  • I  can't sign up for iCloud

    Hi,
    I have an iMac 27" running Lion 10.7.4 + an iPhone 4S running 5.1.1
Now if i want to purchase anything on the app store or Apple store online, i'm obliged to sign in with my apple ID and Password, normal.
But when i try to create an iCloud account it asks for my apple ID and password, but when i put this in the required fields i am getting a message which says wrong ID or password.
Can someone please tell me where i'm going wrong, this is driving me nuts, surely it's the same ID and Password??
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks for your time
    Mike

No, it's the same, here's the message i get :
    Unsupported Apple ID
iCloud requires an apple id that is an email address
    (including @me.com addresses)
I get this with both the iMac and iPhone 4S

  • Signing up for iCloud has caused freezing problems with my email.  Can I delete my iCloud account?

iPhone 5, activated iCloud. Now my email is frozen. What should I do? Delete iCloud? accessing Settings "verification failed there was an error connecting to iCloud

You cannot delete the iCloud account that is signed on to Find My iPhone unless you know the password. This is called the Activation Lock:
    ACTIVATION LOCK
It is an anti-theft security measure that is a part of iOS 7. You can only get around this by following the steps in this support article:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
Contact your friend. This is the only way around the lock.
    Best of luck,

  • TS3988 Can't sign-in to iCloud because account is lock

How do I unlock my iCloud

    Hi,
can you open the windows like below:
If you cannot open that window, we could not control this and you should consult with your company for
    security issues about IE.
If you can open, and cannot access the internet when you click the "Obtain a registration key online", you can copy the link in the firefox, then  login to your outlook account and obtain the product key.
Or you can locate product key follow up the link:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg442060.aspx
    Then register the licence offline.

  • HT204053 can i sign up for icloud find my ipad after it has been taken

I have lost or my ipad2 has been taken.  How do I locate it if I have my apple id and password but didnt load the app prior to it being taken.

You can go into Settings, choose General (on the left side), then choose Software Update on the right side. This should tell you which iOS (operating system) you are presently using.  No doubt it will tell you there is an update.
You will need to connect your iPad to your computer and update it through iTunes to the latest iOS, which is iOS6.  Once your iPad is connected via the cable to your computer, launch iTunes. The iPad will appear in the bar on the left, click on it and you will be able to see the General Information about the iPad.  You will likely get a pop-up window notifying you there is a new iOS as soon as iTunes recognizes your iPad. Then iTunes will ask if you want to download and update to the new iOS. Do that. It will take probably 20-30 minutes depending on your computer and your iPad.  After the update has finished, you will need to enable iCloud which will allow you to use the Find my iPad app. Please read about iCloud from the Apple Support Site BEFORE you enable it at http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/  Good luck.

  • I had to change my apple ID due to someone else using it and changing the password, so now i can't sign out of icloud as the email is wrong and i dont have the password to turn off find my iphone. Help!

Basically, someone was hacking my apple account for a while and kept changing the password so i kept resetting it, now i've had to change my email as icloud still wouldn't accept my new passwords - even after being updated. Now i can't sign out of icloud due to it being the wrong email and an unknown previous password, as i can't turn off find my phone.ipad. How do i solve this without losing everything as i can't just delete the account and the usb ports on my laptop have gone so i can't back up to my laptop. I'm running completely on icloud but desperately need it to update so i don't lose all my uni work as well off my ipad.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.
This article provides more information about Activation Lock.
