    What sort of card are you trying to use ? If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined
    If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes support and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management

    There may be a defect in the phone. As you bought it in the US the only place you can get it looked at is in the US.
    When you say you bought it new, unlocked did you buy it directly from an Apple store? If you did not it was hacked to unlock it, which could also be your problem. Apple stores are the only place in the US that sells legitimately unlocked iPhones.

    If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
    You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
    If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • I'm trying to open an AVI from a disc, but QT says that a codec is missing.  Any ideas?

    Okay...  So, I DLed Perian, Ctrl-Clicked on the AVI file and selected it using Open With.  It started opening, and then Quick Time jumped in over it, and I get the same error message as usual.  Should I try the other programs on Perian's page?
    I would work on one problem at a time. If, as you indicated, you have already installed the Perian package located at the URL posted by QTKirk, the next QT playback question would be, "Do you have the QT 7 Player v7.6.6. also installed?" followed by "Did you try playing the file in the QT 7 Player app?" As previously noted, the Perian support may require access to the 32-bit routines embedded in your system OS via the QT 7 app. Normally, if both QT X and QT 7 are installed on your system and if QT X does not support file playback, the system may ask if you wish to open the file with the QT 7 app. If you don't have QT 7 installed on your system and QT X cannot play the file using the Perian codec component support, then you will likely continue to receive the "missing codec" modal message.
    If you have not already downloaded and installed the QT 7 v7.6.6 Player, I would recommend you do so now using the instructions and download link found HERE. Please note that both players may be simultaneously installed and used on your Lion system but they should be left in their default installed locations. (I.e., QT X is isnstalled in your "Applications" folder while QT 7 is placed in your "Applications/Utilities" folder.) I usually keep both apps in my dock for easy access. In any event, when it is installed, try playing the AVI file using the QT 7 Player app which will likely require manual opening/path navigation. If the file opens and plays back correctly, then you know the codecs involved are only supported in the older "legacy" player.
    If the file still does not open correctly, my recommendation would then be to download and try playing the AVI files using the free VLC media player. I keep this app installed as my primary backup media player for files which are not otherwise supported on my system (e.g., those using esoteric AVI codecs, BD exports to MKV, etc).

    Ringtones (and audiobooks) are currently a one-time only download. If you still have it on your iPod then you should be able to copy it over to the Tones part of your computer's iTunes library via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) and you can then sync it to your iPhone

    Recently I dropped my iPad and because I had apple care the next day I got a brand new one, but I accidentally started my new iPad as a new one. In the past I have made so many iMovies it's unreal and I have spent ridicolous amounts of time on making them, but when on my new iPad I downloaded iMovies again all my iMovies were gone. Is there anyway I can get them back.

    Have you not backed up or transferred your movies to your computer at any point before you dropped your old iPad?
    If the only copy of these movies was on the old iPad, and that iPad is now gone, then so are the movies that were on it.

    Yes. iOS and apps download to the phone as compressed files. Then they need to be uncompressed, which means they will take up more space. Then they need to be installed, which takes even more space. After the upgrade completes the compressed download and the working files are deleted. So the phone needs almost 3 times the space occupied by the final app or iOS version during installation.
