  • Why am I prompted to pay twice for an app?

We now have a second ipad in the house. When I use my existing apple I.d. on it to buy an app that I have already bought for the first ipad I'm presented with the price. I thought paying twice was meant to be unnecessary when using the same account. What am I doing wrong?

The problem with syncing through itunes is that the backup options are then either throgh icloud (not keen) or through this particular computer. I can't see a way round that but may be mistaken. I'd rather the backups were on my partner's computer, as it's her ipad. Hence my preference for using the App store instead of an itunes sync.

  • If I paid for app for iphone do i have to pay again for same app for ipad?

Hi just curious if anyone could tell me if I have purchased an app for an iphone for example My Movies pro do I have to pay again if I want My Movies pro for Ipad?
Does this depend on specfic apps or is everything free once you paid for it on either your ipad or iphone under same apple Id?
    Thanks
    Oil Country

    Hi Oil Country,
If the app is compatible with both iPhone and iPad, then you can download it to any iPhone or iPad that the Apple ID used to purchase it is signed onto.
You can go to the App Store on the iPad, then to your Purchased Items. Click on "Not on this iPad", and you should see the app listed with a little cloud next to it. Tap on the cloud to download it.
    Cheers,

  • Paying twice for same service

Hi ive already got BT phone with an unlimited call plan and have had it for a long time then at the beginning of September decided to get Broadband option 1 which also has unlimited calls , well stupidly i thought the previous charges for calls would now cease and the new ones would take it's place but alas no i am now going to be charged my original 4.99 calltime plan and my new broadband/calltime plan 15.99 . They give you a new phone number which you assign to your home hub connected phone and charge twice. Im mortified .

BT Broadband comes with Internet calls on a different number and is NOT the same thing or a replacement for your standard call package, but an add on. Your standard number has to stay live as that's what your broadband is tied to. You could choose to cancel the £4.99 anytime package, in which case calls via that would be free at the weekend. But beware. Internet calls are dependent on broadband doing it's job properly and are not of the same quality as your standard phone line. For most purposes it's OK but it has limitations, for example, I've yet to find one of those tone driven menu systems beloved of companies which can recognise a tone sent over the internet.
Also take into account that there are some services which are nominally free, but BT will charge you for if you don't make the appropriate number of calls. For example: 1571 is free unless you make either 2 or 6 calls (including inclusive calls, but not 0800) depending on whether you're billed monthly or quarterly. If you've taken advantage of paying your annual line rental at a discount you will be charged £1.50 per month if you don't make the same requisite number of calls. So do use your main number too during its free period or you may have a nasty surprise.
You actually have 2 different things.

  • Pay twice for same movie

Hello I've downloaded a movie on my iPad and deleted it later for pace reasons. I want to watch it again now but iTunes tells me to pay for it again (as opposed to App purchases). Is that correct or where dio I get again content I already paid for?

Up until quite recently all media purchases through iTunes were on a one time only download. This is gradually changing however in most regions movies are not yet available for repeat download and even in the US some distributors have yet to release some or all of their content. You should have been reminded to back up the movie once downloaded, e.g. by transferring purchases, unless you chose to suppress such warnings. It may be that as the new scheme is rolled out to more content that your movie will, at some point, become eligible and appear in your purchase history for download from the cloud, otherwise yes, in principle you have to pay again.
You could also try contacting the iTunes Store support staff to see if they can reissue the content, but it may not be within their power and they are certainly under no obligation to do so.

  • HT204266 Charged twice for same app

I did my taxes withe the h&r block at home app and I checked my bank account and it showed 1 charge for 1.00 dollar and 2 charges for 29.97 each I only bought 1 app at 27.99 + tax why did you charge me all the other times and will I get my money back ????

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here.
If you added or changed the credit card details on your account then you will probably have received a $1 temporary store holding charge to check that the card details are valid and active - it should disappear within a few days (store holding charge).
For the duplicate $29.97 you can contact iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

You are not addressing Apple here at all.

  • HT201303 do i have to pay twice for i phone and i mac?

i bought the app "day one" today with iphone and i downroad with my i mac again. (using same ID) and it seems paying twice for same app.
i thought app "day one" can share with iphone and i mac with icloud so.. is it different version? i want to know paying twice is ok or miss.

Apps that run on iOS devices can be shared among all of your iOS devices, but are not shared to the Mac platform.  That is a different device and purchased again for the Mac, can be shared among your Macs, though if you have more than one.

  • HT204053 My wife and I are using the same apple ID. since last week, i am required to pay twice for the same app on our 2 devices (even though we are using the same ID). what can I do to fix this?

My wife and I are using the same apple ID. Up until last week we used to buy an app and pay for it only once, but use it on both devices.
since last week, the app store asks me to pay again for an app i already paid for on one device. On both devices automatic downloads (in settings) is and was always turned off.
what can I do to fix this?

Actually no. After installing an app on one device, I used to see an "install" button on the second device (since it's already been paid for). Now i get the full price button on the second device. I didn't want to proceed with the purchase because i didn't want to be billed twice.

  • HT204053 My new HK iPhone will not download apps purchased in U.S. and says I need an HK Apple ID.  This creates a second Apple ID and I am concerned that I will have to pay twice for the same app.

Apps previously purchased will continue to operate wherever you are.    However; you'll not be able to update them other than by using the original purchase details.   What this means is that you can only 'purchase' from a country's store if you have a valid credit card and residence of and in that country.

Welcome to the world of digital media. Your can't really transfer it. I don't know what the rules are about transferring to your spouse but I do know that in some cases when you die, your heirs cannot inherit your digital media. This is why there is still an advantage to buying the CD since the usage rights belong to whomever holds the physical media.
A possible workaround is to burn the songs to a music CD with yout account (tracks only without song titles) and then having your wife upload it as a regular music CD onto her account. It's been a while since i've done this so I'm not sure if it would work now.
Please note that I'm not advocating copyright and/or TOS violations. I'm only suggesting ways to copy music for your own personal use which has traditonally been permitted. I only did this because I wanted to convert iTunes songs to mp3 files so I could burn them onto a data CD for use in my car. It would make sense that since married couples are a joint entity, this would be personal use.
Also, I'm not a lawyer so don't take this as legal advice.

  • How do I upgrade my MacBook Air with the same IOS as my iMac without paying twice for it?

Hello! I have a question concerning IOS 7 upgrade for my MacBook Air which I have already on my iMac. Know it must be possible  without paying twice for it, but I have forgotten how? Can anyone help?

iOS is the operating system for iPhones, iPads, etc.
Mac OS is the operating system for Mac computers.
Which version of Mac OS are you running on your iMac? (You're not running iOS6 on it.)
If you purchased that OS from the app store, then you can download it to as many computers as you own or control (including your Macbook Air). However, if your iMac came preinstalled with the current OS, then the license is only good for that computer and you must buy it for any other computer.

  • I have a iMac and a Mac Air. Do I have to pay twice for MAC OS X Lion?

Do I have to pay twice for MAC OS X Lion for my iMac and MAC Air?

No. You can install Lion on all systems you own from a single purchase. Either copy the installer before you run it on the first system and transfer it to the other system, or purchase and download it on one system, then log into the App Store on the second system go to the Purchased tab and you'll be able to download the installer again without charge.
    Regards.
