HT5624 Someone is using my phone number for iMessages

I had a alert come on my phone. It stated that " (name) is using your number for iMessages." I went onto my Apple ID and reset my password. How do I know if there still on my iMessages. ?? Please help.

It maybe a little late to reply to this but have you ever logged on to iTunes using a friend's computer? if so they maybe using that to send messages if you didn't sign out... But my guess is you no longer have that problem since you changed your password?

You need to change your Apple ID password. You could login to Find My iPhone and wipe that iPad if you felt the need to do so.

How can i use my phone number for imessage on my macbook pro?

TRy to check on your imessage setting on your iphone. It should be setting>messages> imessage. If you can see your phone number then your mac will be able to see your message. If not toggle the message on and off. Once activated your mac will ask you if you would like to use your number for imessage, click agree(0r yes) then you will also receive a message on your iphone that your mac started using your phone number for imessage

Can i stop using my phone number for imessage

i want to stop using my phone number with imessage, i cant because it is greyed out and its selected but i want to deselect it but i cant.
when i take my sim out it completely disables imessage

To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.

Using my phone number for iMessage across 3 devices

Hi all!
I've been happily using iMessage on my iPhone, iPad 2 and iMac (OSX 10.8.5) for ages, until iOS 6 came out. Now, my iPad and iMac won't recognize my iPhone number to be used for iMessage.
Briefly, the phone number showed as "verifying" in the iMac's iMessage preferences -> accounts screen, but it was greyed out and has since disappeared.
My phone number is added to my Apple ID, I've tried to log out of all three Apple ID's (turning off iMessage and FaceTime) on all three devices, then logging back onto each starting with the iPhone, but all it does is add other email addresses I don't want associated with iMessage (even though I've deleted them) and my phone number is nowhere to be found except on my iPhone. It is the only "send and receive" option on my iPhone, and even synching my iPhone to my iMac isn't working.

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

IOS 7 update won't let me use my phone number for iMessage

I just updated my software to ios7. I have the iPhone 4s. However after I downloaded it, I realized that iMessage won't allow me to use my phone number, I went to settings & my phone number is listed as an option but it won't let me click on it, so when I try to send messages they are being sent from my email.

I can't use my phone number for iMessage or FaceTime

I logged into my IPhone with a new Apple ID and then when I tried to select my phone number to use with iMessage and FaceTime yet it is faded out therefore I can not select it to use my with new Apple ID and can only use my email instead. This is very annoying as I have many friends with iPhones so it is a lot easier an more convenient to use iMessage or FaceTime through phone numbers not just emails.

If your phone number has a checkmark next to it, even though it is grayed out, it is set up the way it is supposed to be. Please refer to the attached article for more information.

Welcome to the Apple community.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Try this:
1. Close iTunes.
2. Connect your iPhone to your computer and then launch iTunes.
3. Turn your iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone).
4. Then, hold down the sleep/wake button and home button together for EXACTLY 10 SECONDS, then release the sleep/wake button.
5. Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected. When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black. Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode.
6. Hit the OK message that should popup to restore your phone. Restore as "New".

i have set up an iTouch for my 10 year old son. To set up iMessaging between him and his parents i used my iTunes account but this picked up my phone number..........i now need to change this but cannot see how to do it in Settings. Any suggestions?

Thanks, but i guess this means i have to create an email address for my son and hs own apple id?
My aim is to link his mobile number to the iTouch but not to give him his own iTunes account....

I have just set-up my new iphone5 (including iCloud password) when I received the following message "izzy is using +61--- --- --- for iCloud and FaceTime". How/why can someone be using my number - is this a mistake by apple or a legitimate scam? If this is a scam, could you please advise on the course of action I should take.

Remove someone who is using my phone number for teir account also

Can a rep contact me to remove an ex employee of ours who is using our Corporate phone number for their Rewards Account? I saw this the other day when I entered my Account number, his name came up under mine.

I should be able to remove the corporate phone number from the ex-employee's account information; however, I would need for the ex-employee to make that request. If they were to register for the forum and send me a private message requesting that the phone number be removed from their account, then I should be able to do it. A private message can be sent by clicking on the blue button located within my signature.

My mistake... I left a step out.
Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID. Then select the number.
