HT5625 delete an unused apple id

I started out with an apple id for my iphone 4s and now I no longer use that email. I have a new one for my phone and pc i use when i log in to icloud. but on my phone, i still get the popup for the old id. i see it in my icloud settings but can't select it to delete and change. please help.

If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You can't delete the account, just the info from your devices. Just don't use it, if you don't want to.

  • HT5625 How do I delete an old Apple ID?

I know how to reset my password, find that I have multiple Apple IDs, but how do I delete an old Apple ID?

Can't abandon it because my computer keeps bringing it back when I want to update instead of using my current apple id

  • How do I delete two old Apple ID's and just use my current Apple ID?

I had an Apple ID with an AOL email, I switched over to yahoo. While making the switch I misspelled the yahoo email address. I could not delete it, so I made another yahoo email address ID. Eventually I lost access to my previous purchases that were associated with the faulty email address even though I was using my current (correct email) to log onto iTunes. I found this out when my Macbook crashed (iPhoto) and I could not access my previous purchases. Eventually I was able to convince Apple Account Security Support that I was the person who set up the account (I am living in Barcelona currently and calling for support cost a lot of euro on a pay as you go sim and holding for 1 hour is a big waste of euro, but I understand that Apple Support is busy BUT, if you (Chris and Tyler) say you will call a customer back if you are disconnected you should follow through, not leave the customer hanging) (A SHOUT OUT TO MERCEDES, SHE FOLLOWED THROUGH!!!) (Chris and Tyler you guys need additional customer training from Mercedes)
Anyway, back on topic. By a stroke of luck, while I was on hold for 30 minutes, I found the crossed out password to my faulty email ID, I was able to view/restore ALL of my previous purchases. So, my problem now is that I still have two unused Apple ID's. I want to delete them and just use the current. I don't want to call Apple again because I cannot waste anymore euro on hold and I do not feel confident that the Account Security representative will call me back, Mercedes is an exception to that. It would be nice to resolve this by email correspondence OR and actual call from Apple Account Security.
On a side note, I have purchased three Apple devices while here in Barcelona. Europe has a mandatory two year warranty, but if you have a US iTunes Account serial numbers written in for warranty information only are recognized by US one year warranty standards. Apple should Should acknowledge this loophole/oversight.
So that's a brief summary as it relates to my question. Sorry for the length of it. I hope I can get some good opinions for a possible resolution for my question/issue.
    Thanks

On a side note, I have purchased three Apple devices while here in Barcelona. Europe has a mandatory two year warranty, but if you have a US iTunes Account serial numbers written in for warranty information only are recognized by US one year warranty standards.
Your account isn't US or Spanish or any country but should be associated with the country in which you are resident.  Your US account  becomes a Spanish account if that is where you now live but it is all the same AppleID.  Before you change country make sure you have downloaded and backed up any purchases from your previous country's store.  You will not be able to re-download them again once you change countries and it won't be easy to change countries to the previous one once you lose your payment method for the former country (as well as a wait period).  As long as you have them on your computer you will be okay.
Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht6119 - "After you change the country of your account, you won't see the items you purchased from the previous country’s store in the Purchased section."
Even if you do not change country you are not supposed to use your account outside the USA. The iTunes Store in a country is intended for use only by that country's residents, and only while they are in the country. To use the iTunes Store in a country you need a credit card (or other card type if acceptable in a country) issued in that country, billed to an address in that country, and also be physically present in that country when using the store.  You are also restricted to waiting 90 days between country changes.
E.g., "The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance." - http://www.apple.com/legal/itune/us/terms.html#SERVICE
As for the devices, I believe except for computers the warranties only apply in the country/region of purchase.  If you return to the USA with them you would have to return them to Spain for any service (and no, Apple will not ship them back to another country either direction -- you'll have to get a friend to take them in).
Apple Hardware Warranties - http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ - select device, then model, then country, then view warranty button.  Look for:
    "IMPORTANT RESTRICTION
Apple may restrict warranty service to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the Apple Product." - http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/iphone-english.html

  • How to delete the unused Archive mailbox ?

Hi ... How can I delete the unused Archives mailbox in Mail ?

After taking another look at your first post, it does not appear that you are using iCloud.
What I can tell you is that Apple changed the way Archive folders are displayed at some point. That Archive folder is part of the main mailbox system just as the Draft mailbox is. You have no option to delete a main mailbox in Mail. If you have archived messages, they should appear in that mailbox. If you archive messages from more than one account, subfolders will appear under the Archive mailbox which will tell you which account the messages are archived in. Even local mailbox messages will appear as an On My Mac sub account.
Since your picture does not show an arrow next to it indicating a sub account, it would indicate archives from only one account. If you have no messages in it, then it should disappear following the instructions in my first reply until it is need in the future. This will also apply to the Draft mailbox if you have no draft messages in it.
I understand you said that didn't work for you and you said you have no messages in it. What I do see in your illustration is that you also have an Archive folder under your IMAP account. Is that a folder you created and named Archive?  If messages within that folder are truly archive messages, they should appear in the main Archive mailbox and not under the IMAP account folder. Maybe that folder is somehow interfering with the main Archive mailbox. If you have no messages in that particular folder, try deleting it and then repeat the procedures in my first reply. If you do have messages in it, select them and archive them from Mail. It should move them to the main archive folder. Then you can delete that folder.
As I said, archived messages should only appear under the main Archive mailbox and not different archive folders under the IMAP account folders.

  • How Do I Delete My Old Apple ID From My iPhone When That ID No Longer Exists?

I moved, and cancled my internet provider, losing that associated email (email #1). It was the same email I used for my Apple ID. At some point in the unknown past, the only other email adress I have (email #2) was also signed up for a speerate Apple ID
I spoke to Apple on the phone, they walked me through changing my Apple ID from email #1 to email #2 and deleting any record of email #1. All worked fine.
But now, my iPhone can't do anything iCloud related because it's looking for my original Apple ID with email #1. I can't download apps, I can't download podcasts and most frustrating, I can not DELETE the old Apple ID without a password, which I've tried but am told it doesn't like it - probabbly because that email doesn't exist in the first place.
So, can I do anything before getting back on the phone with Apple?

With iOS 7 there’s no workaround.
    They should have done this.

  • I cannot fully uninstall iTunes because I am unable to delete the commonfiles\apple folder

I received error 42404 after updating to itunes 11, and have attempted to follow the instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925. However, my Vista will not let me delete the commonfiles\apple folder. How can I delete it?
The day of iTunes 11's release, I updated my iTunes, then opened up the prgm to take a look at it. I was immediately brought to the attention that the program didn't install correctly (with error 42404), so I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, with the same error coming up. I continued to use iTunes and see if i could ignore the issue, however I discovered I was unable to log into my itunes acount on the store.
So I followed the isntructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 correctly, deleted the remaining files/folders, except I am still unable to delete the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ folder. I attempt to delete it, it asks me for permission to do so, I say continue, and even after I give it permission to delete the folder, it instantly says to me, "You need permission to perform this action," and it gives me the options to cancel or try again (which immediately brings this same window up again asking me to try again).
I've done plenty of research for the past two days, from attempting to delete the individual files within this folder via the Command Prompt, using Safe Mode, and many other options, yet nothing works. I've seen many forums advise using a program called "Unlocker," however, anyone googling the program will find that it is offered from a plethora of various sites, and I honestly dont trust programs from these sites.
Is there ANYTHING anyone knows to do for an issue like this? All I need is that one folder deleted, and all my problems are gone!

    It still didn't work...
Within this commonfiles\apple folder, there is only one folder, labeled "Internet Services." Within this folder, there are 6 folders, labeled:
    APLZOD.resources
    BookmarkDAV_client.resources
    CoreDAV.resources
    iCloud.resources
    iCloudServices.resources
    ShellStreams.resources
Within all but CoreDAV and BookmarkDAV_client, there are multiple different folders, all labeled starting with a two letter (acronym I believe, for different languages) then .lproj (for example, a folder is labeled "ar.lproj".
In each of the folders of APLZOD.resources, there is a file labeled "APLZODlocalized.dll."
In all of the folders containing the multiple .lproj folders, there are likewise "name"localized.dll files contained.
In the BookmarkDAV_client and Core DAV folders, they each contain only one file, "Info.plist"
I attempted to delete all of these files, and still, the FileAssassin could not delete them. I unlocked one of them for instance, and I tried to delete the file myself (thru windows explorer and just clicking delete), and I still had the same issue of coming eventually to the window requesting me to "try again" to have permission.
What can I do?? I'd like to avoid Unlocker, but if it really is a reliable and SAFE program, and someone knows a SAFE place to download it from, I'd appreciate it very much so!!
    thanks!!

  • How can I delete my first apple ID it interferes with apps I want to buy using my iCloud id

I recently had my macbook pro worked on at apple, with great success.  I was told I would be able to delete my first apple ID which is a me.com account
I now use I cloud and want the other to go away for good..  But it isn't as they said it would.  It interferes with purchases on my I-phone and I don't even remember the password.  Is it possible to delete it ? if so How ???

You cannot delete an Apple ID. You can just stop using it. You should change the iCloud Apple ID address you now are using in the device to the new one you wish to use. I suggest you tab Settings > General > Reset > Settings, then reconfigure your phone this time using your new Apple ID.

  • How do I delete an alternate Apple ID?

I logged into the Manage my Apple ID page on the Apple site and I see several email addresses associated with my Apple ID.  I also see an "alternate apple ID" and while I am able to delete or edit the email addresses, I am not able to edit or delete the alternate Apple ID.  How can I do this?

You are probably right, (Csound1) I'm over thinking.
But so far seems Imp68, is right, you cannot change it.
I have a University degree in COmputer science, and sometime I make it too complex, being a PC guy new to Mac world.
So how do you disconnect the I-Cloud account? I tried to create a new one, but seems I would also have to create a new Apple ID as well.
Is there something doable to transfer the i-tune purchases and I-cloud space paid fees for the year?
Seems to be killing a mosquito with a hammer, but may be you are right, this is as simple as that...

  • How do I delete an unknown apple ID?

    I have an iPad2 running iOS7.
Someone has set up iCloud using an email address we don't recogonise and a password we cannot guess.
    Find My phone is ON.
Question 1. How do I delete this unwanted apple ID and replace it with mine?
Every attempt is twarted by the request to switch off Find My Phone.

With iOS 7, Find My iPhone includes a new feature called Activation Lock, which makes it difficult for anyone to use or sell stolen iPad.
With Activation Lock, the Apple ID and password of original owner will be required to:
    1. Turn off Find My iPhone on your device
    2. Erase your device
    3. Reactivate and use your device

    Hello javyocks,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Concerning the issue with multiple Apple ID's, please look at the following:
Frequently asked questions about Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5622
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
If you are wondering how using multiple Apple IDs relate to iCloud, see Apple IDs and iCloud.

hi guys i have 2 ? 1 my daughters iphone is trying to update on my mac cant get it off help please ,,, 2 i have an old apple id and when i try to up date it keeps looking for the password how do i delete this old apple id help

    Hi.
I had a similar problem myself. This is what helped me.
I went to the App store app, scrolled to the bottom, logged out of the account, re logged in with my Apple ID.  Then went back to app updates. Once I put in my ID password all was fine.

  • How do I delete an old Apple ID when I've forgotten the Password

I want to delete an old Apple ID but have forgotton the password. I've gone back to my maiden name and thought I'd delted the old ID but icloud wont sync photostream to my new ID not will my iphone 4 calendar any longer sync to my iPad and I keep getting a box for my old ID but cant remember the password. I've put in every password I've ever used but it says they're all wrong. This is driving me nuts, I swear I'm going to get  a Galaxy next and not an iPad!!! I don't have this problem on my lap top.

Photo Stream and Calendar will not sync to your new Apple/iCloud ID. They are tied to the old one. You cannot delete an Apple ID, all you can do is stop using it. However, the iCloud account associated with that ID and all of its contents will not be accessible using that new Apple/iCloud ID - two different accounts.
Also, any purchases you made with the old ID will remain tied to that old ID. They cannot be transferred to a different Apple account.
Your best bet is to go to Manage your Apple ID and change the email address for your existing Apple ID to whatever it is you want it to be (unless it is an Apple Domain email address - @me.com, @mac.com, etc.). However, if you have already used that email address for the new ID you set up, it won't be available to be used for your updated one: Apple - My Apple ID
If you want to use the email address you set up the new Apple ID with, you can contact Apple Support to see if they can delete that new account so you can use the email address you assigned to it:
    ACCOUNT SECURITY CONTACT NUMBERS
If you are having issues signing off your old ID because you don't remember the password, you can reset that password by going to the first link listed above and clicking on Reset Password. If you don't remember the answers to your Security Questions, you can contact Apple Support at the second link posted above to have them reset.
