Thank you for your reply but I sorted it out by turning my phone off and then on again and it seemed to update itself so I could put in the apple ID. However, it's really not easy to negate the iphone and change emails which is unavoidable sometimes. If anything like that happens again I now know that there is an icloud website at least. Anne

I found this article some time ago when I was trying to help someone else in this same situation. This is a copy and paste from the website. The website is provided below for you to read before you try this.
Plug your phone into iTunes
Click setup as a new device
Immediately unplug your phone from the computer
Give it about 30 seconds and iTunes will give a message (I don’t remember the specific, but regarding you unplugging the device and it not completing)
Plug your phone back in
Viola! no restore occurred and you can access everything again
This computer has previously synced with an iPhone or another iOS device.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photo stream doesn't use your iCloud storage space.
You can see what your iCloud storage is used for and delete any unwanted content at settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage > Manage...... on your iOS device. Or System Preferences > iCloud > Manage...... on a Mac.
You have 3 options......
Purchase more iCloud storage.
Delete data or back ups that are being stored in iCloud already.
Turn off items to be included in the next back up to reduce its size.

I can not update to itunes 10.4, and when I try manually it keeps saying error f drive not available??

I have tried loads of times to update to Itunes 10.4 but it fails every time and tells me to try and download the file manually then install it but this also fails and keeps giving me a error of "F drive not available"
I have itunes on a removable hard drive on my laptop if this makes any difference

Open a Windows Command prompt, e.g. Hit Start > Run, type in CMD and press OK. Type in SUBST F C:\<enter>
This will map F: to C: until the machine is restarted or you enter
SUBST F: /D at the command prompt. Now you can try uninstalling or upgrading the software again. (If upgrading the software, install the software in the default location, not on the F:\ drive.)

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Go to the 'Go' menu in the Finder and hold down the option key to reveal the Library. Then navigate to library > preferences > system configuration and drag the 'Networkinterfaces.plist' file to the trash and restart for mac. Now try again.

Be sure you are checking the email account that you used to set up the Apple ID you used to create the iCloud account. Also, be sure to check your spam/junk folder as well as your inbox. The email you should receive looks like the image below. When you get it, click the Verify Now link.
If it still isn't there, try going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right look for a link to resend the verification email.

TS5223 After my iphone updated to ios7, it reverted back to my old icloud account which I do not know the password, do not have access to the email it sends the reset to and the reset for security options say my birthday information is wrong.

Help!!! I've lost all of my contacts and information after the ios7 update. After the update I plugged my phone into my MacBook and it reverted back to my old icloud account. If you don't know your password, don't know your security questions and don't have a rescue address or don't receive a reset email, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.
If you are in a region that doesn't have international telephone support try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support.

Lion 10.7.5 is as far as you can go. You must have at least 2 GBs of installed RAM.

Check your spam folder to be sure it isn't there. If not, try going to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and Manage your account. There should be a link there to resend the verification email.

Hey everybody. I bought a used iphone 5 on craigslist. I have been using it for a couple months now without issue. I went to factory reset it and it asked for a password. Turns out there is an icloud account created on the phone and I need a password for it in order to reset phone. Is there a way to delete the icloud account? Keeping in mind it is not locked and I can access everything on the phone. Would booting it up in recovery work through iTunes? Thanks for the help.

Correct my if I am wrong, but I thought if an iPhone is icloud locked, that when you turn it on, you get a message asking for you to enter the icloud email address and password...I don't get that. The phone boots up just fine, I can use wifi/4g, make phone calls. Do whatever I want. The only thing is there is an icloud acct on the phone.
Hypothetically, say I met someone at a bar and I got up for a second to use the restroom and left my phone on the bar. Let's say the person thought it would be funny to put their icloud account onto my phone...they don't lock it or anything, just create an icloud account on my phone. They forget to tell me and we both just go our separate ways. The phone continues to work just fine, but that icloud acct is there forever unless I run into them again??

You can't, i'm sorry. What you're running into is the activation lock and it requires that the original owner release it with their apple ID before you can set it up.

You cannot delete the account from the server (partly to prevent the username from becoming available again and some-one else using it to pretend to be you).. Having disengaged your devices from it, go to http://icloud.com and delete any data in there such as contacts and calendars. Then just ignore it.

Basic troubleshooting steps outline in the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Try each of these in order until the problem is resolved. If you've been through all these steps and the trouble persists, you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation. Be sure to make an appointment first at the Genius Bar so you won't have a long wait.

Apple requires each Apple ID be associated with a different email address. Perhaps that is why you haven't received the email. Or you received the email and it is in your Junk Mail folder.
