HT5625 my iCloud email is linked to an unknown apple id?

How do I find out what that is and use it for my own apple id?

Was it setup on another Mac, device, or by another user account?

  • Can you change the icloud email address linked to you icloud account?

Some how the my husbands iCloud email address got linked to my iCloud account is there a way to change the iCloud email address to another?

Not without creating a new iCloud account.  If you want to do this, create a new ID with the email address you want to use, then go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on your device.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using your new ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to your new account.
This will not move your photo stream, however.  If you have photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll and that you haven't backed up anywhere else you will need to save these before deleting the account.  To do this, open your photo stream album on your device in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  You can then delete the iCloud account and your photos will stay in your camera roll.

  • How do I fix that my preferred@icloud email is attached to the wrong Apple ID?

I have two Apple IDs.  I use one of them for iTunes and the AppStore to purchase music and aps.  The other is my main Apple ID for my iPhone and iPad, and I have purchased extra iCloud storage for that Apple ID.
My problem is that I have an @iCloud.com email address attached to my "main" Apple ID that I no longer want.  Unfortunately, my preferred @iCloud.com email address somehow got attached to the Apple ID I use for iTunes - where I don't want it!!
Is there any way to 1) get rid of the @iCloud email I don't want?  I think the answer to that is No - from what I've read, I have to create an alias email on my main Apple ID and then designate that as my mail @iCloud email.  Problem I'm running into dong that is that my preferred iCloud email address has gotten attached to the other (iTunes) Apple ID, so I can't use it as an alias on the main Apple ID.  It seems the solution is to delete one of the Apple ID's - my preference would be the iTunes one.  But if I do that, am I correct in assuming I will lose all my purchased music and apps?
Anybody have a solution/suggestion for me?  Seems everything I try to do would only dig me in deeper.
    Thanks for any help!

This is a somewhat recent change, but frankly there is no reason to constantly be logging out of one Apple ID and logging in with a different Apple ID.
If multiple people with different Apple ID's are regularly using the same computer, either authorize the computer for each of the Apple IDs or created unique logins on the computer for each user and have each sign in with their appropriate Apple ID.

  • HT204088 I have received an email with a receipt to my iCloud email for a purchase from a apple store in Perth Australia...it does not appear in my purchased list but why did I get the email

I have received a receipt to my email address from an apple store in Perth Australia. No purchase history on my iTunes account but clearly someone else appears to have given my iCloud email...has this happened to anyone before? Should I be worried that someone has access to my account and emails. I sent a query to Apple and received a generic non answer......typical.

The purchase history on your iTunes account will only show purchases from the iTunes stores (iTunes, app store, ibookstore, Mac app store), not from Apple online or bricks-and-mortar stores.
Does anything show on your credit card ? If the email is genuine then it's possible that your and their email addresses are similar and that they gave the wrong id (or the store typed it incorrectly), it doesn't necessarily mean that anybody has access to your account.
For the contact, you will initially just receive an acknowledgement email, the proper reply may take 24 (possibly 48) hours.

  • Separate icloud email account from itunes account (separate Apple IDs and passwords)

How do I transfer my @me email address to a different Apple ID?  My current Apple ID is @gmail.  End game is that I would like to separate my icloud email from my itunes account purchases (separate accounts with separate passwords.  Thanks in advance.

And if you can't transfer @me address, can you at least have a separate password for the email account.  My family has made all itunes purchases through my Apple ID and I would like them to still have access, but I do not want them to have access to my email account.  Thank you

  • ICloud email accounts necessary on all my apple devices?

I have an iMac, a MacBook Pro, an iPod 2, and an iPhone 4s.  When setting up iCloud, I ended up with an iCloud email account on the MacBook, the iPhone, and the iPad, but not on the iMac.  Is this normal?  Are the iCloud email accounts required on the ios devices and the MacBook?

I'm not sure if I am referring to Apple ID.  In the iCloud setup routine on my iPad and iPhone, all of my devices  my normal, i.e., [email protected], email address being used as my Apple ID, with a me.com address for email shown on the IOS devices.  It would appear then that the cox email account answers the Apple ID requirement.  My question, then, is, do I need the iCloud email address (@me.com) as well?  Since my iMac doesn't have the iCloud email account in either mail or iCloud, it would appear that I do not.  So I guess my bottom line question is, can I safely delete the iCloud email account ([email protected]) from those devices that have it?

  • Can different icloud accounts be linked to the same apple id

I'm not exactly sure how to word this, but we have one apple ID for iTunes - I have an iPod, along with my son and husband.  We share the library.  Well, we all downloaded ios5 which includes the iCloud, and now my son is seeing my contacts and calendar on his ipod!  Is there any way to avoid this?  Can two apple ids share a music library?  This is quite annoying.  My husband is getting his iPhone any day, and we're going to have the same issues.
I'm concerned about other things that might be shared - like does my son have access to my email or anything else??
    thanks,
    K

The way to avoid such a problem is to have different user accounts on the computer. One for you, one for your husband, and one for your son. Each of you should get your own separate Apple ID from your respective user account. Since an Apple ID is an email address you should each have separate email addresses. Each of your respective devices then get synced within you individual user accounts and Apple IDs. Everybody is separate. In that way your son can't see your information (and you can't see his.)
Privacy is assured with this arrangement. Control can be assured by having a single Admin user account that could belong to your husband, for example. The other accounts are Standard or Managed accounts. In this way your son cannot make changes to data that does not belong to him nor make changes to the computer's configuration. Only the admin user can install software.
Managed accounts are handled via Parental Controls in the Users & Groups preferences.

  • I just subscribed to iTunes Match but I find my iPhone 4s is matched to the wrong Apple ID.  iCloud is properly linked to the same Apple ID I registered for iTunes Match but I can't seem to get my iPhone to link Match to that ID.

How can I link iTunes Match to my proper Apple ID?  I have two ID's and my phone accesses iCloud with the proper ID but it insists on trying to access iTunes Match using the wrong ID so I get the message that I'm not registered for iTunes Match.

The iCloud and iTunes Store account ID are not the same thing. They can be different although some folks, like myself, do have the same Apple ID for all the Apple services. Go to Settings > Store and enter the exact same iTunes Store account ID you used to purchase iTunes Match. Be aware you can only switch Apple IDs on an iOS device every 90 days.

  • ICloud email address when I have existing Apple ID

I'm sure this has been solved but could not narrow down this scenario in the support community. My current Apple ID is my current email address, but I'm not renewing my domain and need a new email address. An icloud.com account seems an obvious choice, though I'm wondering what that means to my existing ID and associated iTunes purchases.
https://appleid.apple.com gives me the change to change my Apple ID and I'm assuming once I create my icloud.com email address I change it to that - simple enough.
Do all my iTunes purchases automatically get associated with this new Apple ID?
    Is is that simple?
Is there a KB article that documents this?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I don't think you read the post, Mende.
No, I think he's referring to the spam e-mails coming in this morning. I'm assuming that someone set something up to send out billions of emails to everyone with an "@icloud.com" extension. Either that or there was a massive security breach at Apple/iCloud that leaked millions of email addresses. (God forbid.)

  • How do I move my icloud email address to a different Itunes ID

  • How to change the name or have no name for an iCloud email alias

I had MobileMe on the iPhone with alias email addresses and I liked how it didn’t attach any “name” to an alias. For example, I had MainUserName, then for aliases I would have [email protected], [email protected], etc. When I sent an email from my iPhone using one of the aliases as the "from" no name would be associated with the alias email address. If it was the MainUserName then it would associate it, e.g. Main User <[email protected]> will show up on the "From" field when I sent an email. But with iCloud on the iPhone (and iPad), it’s Main User <[email protected]>, Main User <[email protected], etc., which I don’t want.  If anything it should be Alias 1 <[email protected]> or Alias 2 <[email protected]>.  Anyway, I don't want any name associated with the aliases, so when I send an email it will simply say [email protected] or just [email protected] with no name association.
It works differently if I access iCloud through a web browser.  If I send an email via iCloud on the web, I can customize and have a different name with each alias, e.g., Tom <[email protected]> or Harry <[email protected]>  And the customization carries over to the Mail app on my Mac.  That would be ideal if the customization carried over to the iPhone and iPad, but I'd be happy if there was no name association with alias email addresses.  Hopefully, there's a solution to the iPhone/iPad situation with iCloud as I don't want the name linked with the main iCloud email address linked with all the different email aliases I have.

Can I change the name associated with an ipod on my Mac?
Select the iPod in the iTunes source list, click on its name, and type a new name.
And can there be more than one iPod on one computer?
    Yes.

  • How Can i Move iCloud Email to Another Apple ID

    Hi There
    I have 2 Apple IDS
Apple ID 1 is linked to my imessage and linked to an @me.com email address
Apple ID 2 has no icloud email
I basically want to move my icloud (@me.com) email address to the Apple ID 2 and use that for iMessage as well as my Apple ID
When i change my icloud username to Match Apple ID 2, it doesnt wants me to create a new icloud email address.
How can I move my icloud email address linked to Apple ID1  to Apple ID 2?

I don't believe you can.  @me.com email addressses are permanently tied to the iCloud account that created them (in your example, ID1) and can't be moved.
