HT5628 why is windows 8 not supported on bootcamp for a 13inch mbp mid 2010?

i have noticed that the other wider mac books of the same year was able to install windows 8 on bootcamp but why 13inch is not compatible it doesn't make sense at all. is it the cpu? i can install it just fine in VM but if i want to play SC2 i want to play it on bootcamp.

Thanks for your help. i found a way around installing the windows 8 on my mpb with a fresh install. it seems i stumbled upon it by accident when trying to figure out how to install xp on my mac.  right now i'm trying to install the bootcamp driver for it and i can't seem to get it installed. error says its not compatible with my model when trying to install the most recent ver 5 of the bootcamp. and the lower ver 4 seems to say it would do and install but i think the win 8 is conflicting for it to start.
so right now i'm trying to find a bypass command in cmd for the installation to work. so far i can start the setup on cmd but my failure to produce the right command to bypass verification has me stymied.
do you happen to know what command (or other way that) will work in this particular setup that will skip verification of my model all together so i can install the drivers successfully.

  • "earlier versions of windows are not supported boot camp" with bootcamp 5.1.2

    Hi everyone !
I have a problem about installing window 8.0 pro 64-bit with bootcamp ( v5.1.2 ). When I finished setting up, Bootcamp shows me a message as " earlier versions of windows are not supported boot camp " although I'm using bootcamp with 5.1.2 version. How can I resolve it ? My mac is mgxa2 mid 2014.
    Thanks a lot !

Thanks for supporting to me .
According to "Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Supports" If I use bootcamp version equal or greater than 5, so I can do it. But my current bootcamp likes that. So why not ? . In the first time I set up though bootcamp , it's good but now it always shows that message .

  • Why, when MobileMe was shuttered, does Apple NOT support calendar subscriptions for iCal (Calendar)?  I upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot migrate my Dutch, U.K., Islamic, or Catholic holiday subscriptions.

Why, when MobileMe was shuttered, does Apple NOT support calendar subscriptions for iCal (Calendar)?
I upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot migrate my Dutch, U.K., Islamic, or Catholic holiday subscriptions.  I had a heck of a time getting my Detroit Tigers Baseball team schedules migrated (but Major League Baseball supported the subscriptions, so it occurred).  As I work internationally, having these calendar subscriptions on the new Calendar would be very useful.
If one goes to the Apple site, and seeks calendars [http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/index1.html], they are shunted to MobileMe [https://www.icloud.com/mobileme/not_found/], with the note "MobileMe is closed. Go to iCloud."  But, I do not see how to get subscriptions from iCloud.
    Thanks.

The problem is that many of these calendars were hosted on MobileMe. I actually tried about 20 at random, and only two worked! Not all of the failures were ex-MobileMe, some were on other servers but produced 'File Not Found'.
Strangely, this one worked despite its URL:
    http://ical.mac.com/ical/UK32Holidays.ics
Until the people who publish these calendars (it's not Apple, they are third-party) wake up and find alternative servers these calendars are not available.
There may be other sources which work - try Googling.

  • Why are these Webservices not supported in VC ?

    Hi all,
I am using NW04s SP9, and I plan to make MDM-Application with VC.
Therefore I introduced MDM-WebService into NW and defined it on VC.
but "searchRecords" of "MDMSearchRecords" was displayed with "Not supported"
    in the right frame .
    Mmm...
So I decided to think from a beginning.
I defined above it on VC and I used "Getholidaydate" .
    Good! .
However,,, "Getholidaysforyear" was also "Not supported".
Why are these methods "Not supported" ? .
and how will come to be usable these methods in VC? .
    Thanx in advance.

  • I just downloaded PSE 13 and it won't let me open stating, "OS requirement not met...windows vista not supported"...what do I do?

PSE 13 is supposed to support OS Windows Vista.  Now, after purchasing and downloading, states "OS requirement not met...Windows Vista not supported."  Can anyone help? Will need simple steps explaining what to do!  Thanks!

    No, Vista is not supported:

Purchased Photoshop Elements 13 (upgraded from Photoshop Elements 10), downloaded, entered serial numbers, then got the error message: "OS Requirement not met, Windows Vista not supported" now what?

The last version of PSE which supported Vista was version 12.
You'll either have to upgrade your operating system to Windows 7 or Windows 8 or return PSE 13 for a refund.

  • Version of Windows OS not supported

Downloaded Adobe Reader 70. When opening desktop message comes up this version of Windows OS not supported. What do I do?

Ok, if you do not have service pack 2 of Windows 2000, you cannot
    install Reader 7. Go to
    http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html and
    choose Windows 2000 SP1.
HOWEVER, if you do not have service pack 4, you should not be
connecting to the internet! You are vulnerable to many viruses. You
should use Windows Update to bring yourself up to date with patches
for Windows 2000. This will take quite some time, but I recommend you
    don't delay...

  • Why Segment shrink is not supported for tables with function-based indexes

As we all know , Segment shrink is not supported for tables with function-based indexes.
    But i'm very confused .
Why Segment shrink is not supported for tables with function-based indexes ?? what's its essential?

    Creating a function based index creates a hidden virtual column (you'll see it if you query user_tab_cols) and once you index a virtual column you can no longer shrink the table:orcl> create table t1(c1 number,c2 as (c1 * 2)) segment creation immediate;
    Table created.
    orcl> alter table t1 enable row movement;
    Table altered.
    orcl>
    orcl> alter table t1 shrink space;
    Table altered.
    orcl> create index i2 on t1(c2);
    Index created.
    orcl> alter table t1 shrink space;
    alter table t1 shrink space
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-10631: SHRINK clause should not be specified for this object
orcl>so the issue is not with function based indexes per se, it is a level beneath that. Perhaps because the virtual column has no physical existance, when the row is moved there is no reason for Oracle to realize that an index needs updating? I haven't attempted to reverse engineer this, I would be interested to know if anyone else has.

  • My macbook air keeps on saying Microsoft windows are not supported on os x...what do i do?

my macbook air keeps on saying that windows does not support OS X
    what do i do?

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
         1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows
XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  For Boot Camp
4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the
computer into OS X or Windows.
         2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software
virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
             with OS X.
         3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that
enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
         4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows
applications without having to install Windows.  The
Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
         5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
             Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech Labs- Virtualization Benchmarks, January 2013 | MacTech for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Benchmarks of all of the above except Crossover can be found in Benchmarking Parallels, Fusion, and VirtualBox Against Boot Camp - The Mac Observer. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Why does apple tv not support amazon prime?

why does apple tv not support amazon prime?

If you have an iPhone/iPad it may be possibel to 'Airplay' from teh Amazon Prime app on the device - no Amazon Prime in UK so I can't confirm it works.  Check reviews of the app in iTunes.  Airplay is not something I like much as you have to have another device to work with the AppleTV.
As to why there is no native support for Amazon Prime on the AppleTV itself, we could ask the same for any number of services, but:
1 - Apple/Amazon are competitors to some extent so they may not want to
2 - It may simply not feature in Apple's plans for the device
3 - Rights owners may not allow Apple/Aamzon to collaborate
.....and dozens more possible reasons I suspect, none of which really make sense to you an I as a consumer...

  • Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

There are also iSwifter, Photon, Skyfire, etc., some only support Flash some support Java and Flash.
Adobe never made a version of Flash for iOS and closed their mobile flash division a couple of years ago. You can get Flash on other personal devices but you will be using a 2 year old version that has not been patched for security vulnerabilities.
When the original iPhone was released Mr. Jobs said it would never run Java as it was old technology and a security risk. Nothing has changed since.

Why does the iPad not support flash player? I would like to watch programming from att uverse but cannot because of this restriction

Because NOTHING that is iOS supports Flash. Never has never will.
The only possible option is to try the Skyfire browser from the App store. It is an internet browser that converts flash to HTML 5 so that you can attempt to view it on iOS devices.
I have never tried it so I can tell you if it is any good, but it has gotten decent reviews.

  • Why the iPod does not support Thai language

Why the iPod does not support the Thai language? iTunes supports it. If I drag a song with ID3 tags into my iPod the title becomes blank. If I remove the ID3 tags the title displays but the enconding of the characters are inccorect.

Why the iPod does not support the Thai language?
The languages supported by the iPod are listed in detail in its tech specs:
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html
Hopefully future versions will expand the list to included Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi, etc.

  • Windows Could not find the Driver for your Apple iPod USB Device (5G 30GB)

    I have a 8GB iPod Nano. My roommate has a 30GB 5G Video. Black.
My iPod syncs flawlessly. His is not recognized by Windows or iTunes. Every time we plug in the iPod, it prompts us for the driver. I tried to install the update apple mentions through the windows process, but after going through the tedious Windows Genuine Verification process, I was told that the update didn't apply to my computer.
We use a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p, which shipped with Windows Vista Business.
We are running iTunes 7.3.1.3, and there are no windows updates available for the computer.
    I have...
    ...reset
...reinstalled 7.3.1.3 (over and over and over)
...tried different USB ports. (Early on, we saw it once after swapping ports).
...tried turning off the ability of the computer to 'Turn this device off to save power."
I have also verified that the iPod works on my work Dell Lattitude D620 running XP, and that it's not the cord, as we've used the cord that came with my Nano as well.
So, the problem seems to be with vista, as many people seem to have had. The best thread I found that deals with this was http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=995793.
But even after having tried everything, I still have an unrecognizable iPod.
When I run iPod diagonostics, everything seems okay, except for the iPod connection, which says failed. I've had difficulty working with the iPod service under Computer/Device Manager - it doesn't ever seem to stop or start, with the iPod plugged in or not.
And interestingly enough, the FAT32 external harddrive that I use to back up my data exhibits exactly the same problem ("Windows could not find the driver for your USB Mass Storage Device). This device worked great in XP, and even odder, I have a FAT32 partition of the main HD as a swap space between my VistaOS and my Ubuntu installation.
Do I have to chalk this up to another issue with Windows Vista? What bothers me there is that you're a ping-pong between windows support and apple support - no one really owns up the problem.

Bill, I've been stuck in this loop for 3 months since buying a new laptop with Vista Basic. I've tried everything to no avail. I don't know what else to do apart from buying a cheap PC running XP. Let me know if you manage to find a solution and I'll do the same.
