HT5672 Hi guys , can i update my old macbook to OSX via app store payment?

Hi guys , it is my fiorst so dont laugh!! i need to update my old macbook ( 2009 series) into OSX Lion
can i do it remotely , vioa paying through app store?
thks
Yiannis

Step number one - Back up all your important data!
Seriously, it sounds like you are working without backups. Don't ever do this. Hard drives fail, it is a fact of life. Don't be one of those who get caught without a backup. An external hard drive, burning it all to DVDs, or online backup will save you frustration and money.
Two - don't expect a new operating system to improve performance. Get the computer running as best as it can before you upgrade. You may need more RAM or a bigger hard drive.

Im using os x 10.5.8 so I dont have the app store on my mac, how can I update my os x software without the app store?
    Can I download it online?

    Nope.

Only upgrade to 10.7 or later if you are prepared:

  • Can I update my old macbook to a newer OS

I have the the older black macbook. I am currently running Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and I was wondering if it would be poosible to update to the newest OS X. thank you for any help

You can order a Snow Leopard 10.6 install disk for $29 from the Apple Store as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM and 5gb of free space on your hard drive. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
You can upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 with no problems. Any program that runs under 10.5 should run under10.6. See this list for compatibility with 10.6: http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/  You might have to upgrade some drivers for printers, etc.... And you will have to install Rosetta if you have any third party Power PC applications http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/snow_leopard_installing_rosetta/
To upgrade your iLife and iWork. If you only want iPhoto or other single apps from iLife '11 you can get them from the App Store after you've upgraded to 10.6.6. iPhoto, iMovie or Garage Band for $15 each and Pages, Keynote or Numbers from iWork '09 for $20 each.
Once you are at 10.6.8 you can buy Lion for $29 from the App Store if you have at least a model 2,1 MacBook. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.
To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.

I am the second owner to my macbook air and although i am logged in with my own account the previous account won't let me log out. I am trying to update to the new software but it is asking for the pervious owners password and it wont give me the option to log out and sign in with my own account. it is coming up grey. i have tried almost everything and this is my first macbook. i am logged in to iCloud and app store with my own id yet when i want to update the software it is asking for an old account.

Preparing a 2nd Hand Mac for use -
You need to erase the HDD, reinstall the version of OS X that shipped from the factory on the Mac and then set it up as new with your own Apple ID.

  • Can't update iPhoto to 9.2.1 through App Store

So, I did a search and found someone had this issue a while ago, but there was no real resolution for it, just a bunch of condescending answers from TD. I'm on a pretty new iMac with iLife '11 pre-shipped on it. At home I have a MacBook with iLife '11 installed from retail DVD. At home I can run software update or download the 9.2.1 update just fine. However, on the pre-configured machine it says I HAVE to go through the App Store to update. So I do. 9.2.1 is on there, but it says I have it installed. About iPhoto CLEARLY states that I have 9.1.5 (that was for TD, you know who you are). Now I can't open my photo library at work because i'm on an older version. The original thread was from a year ago. Apparently Apple has yet to fix this snycing issue?

Never mind. Today it detected that it was out of date and is updating right now.

  • HT5900 Hi I am in Ireland and while apple tv is very limited over here I still have one, My request please can u update apple tv to work as the app store I already subscribe to app which are not available in the updates you release can you fix this please

Can you update the video and Tv series abilities of apple tv in Ireland

First, not all features are available in all regions.  This is clearly stated on the Apple website.
Second, these are user to user support forums.  No one here has any control over what is available on the ATV.

Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

my 2013 honda cr-v says my older ipod is unsupported, can I update the old ipod or do need to buy a newer ipod?

You can't merge accounts or copy content to a different account, so anything that you bought or downloaded via the old account is tied to that account - so any updates that those apps get you will only be able to download via that account. You can change which account is logged in on the iPad via Settings > Store

  • Can't install/update Apps via App Store * ios 8.1 iPhone 5s

    Hi,
since the ios update 8.1 i can't install or update apps via App Store. I can't even download free apps or do the free updates for installed apps. Have tried to soft reset my phone, tried to outlog and log in again in the app store, turned wlan off and on and tried to download without wlan. Nothing works.
I got an 1 year old iPhone 5s with the new ios 8.1. Never got any problems with the phone before, since this update!
Thanks for your help and greetings,
    Falcon2k10

If i click for example on the update button in app store, there is just this ''downloading circle'' and shows loading.. and loading.. and loading and just nothing happens. Also the sympol of the updating app gets grey and there stands ''waiting''.
If i try to download an App, there is the same on the install/download button and there shows up a grey symbol of the app and nothing else happens.
No error message or something else. Just shows that it ''loads'' and nothing happens.

  • How can I connect an old macbook pro...

How can I connect an old macbook pro with that does NOT have a Thunderbolt connection to a new 27 inch iMac? I only need to do this for one specific purpose, to be able to see the work I'm doing on the laptop in InDesign on the iMac's larger screen (at a larger size as it were, so I can see a double page spread (or even a whole page would be an improvement) in one go)?  I gather it might be possible to get an adaptor but note that Apple don't seem to sell one. I know I could do this with the cinema screen but would rather do it with a new imac as that will have more use to me overall. It's a work laptop which I don't own so I don't own the Indesign to just be able to use that on an iMac. I have tried to connect monitors to the laptop in the past, but with no success at all.  I hope someone can help . Thank you.

Im pretty sure you are talking about the M8536 which has an ADC Adapter.
you will have to daisy chain a thunderbolt to DVI adapter with an DVI to ADC Adapter.
    the first adapter:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/B/mini-displayport-to-dvi-adapter
The second adapter is old so you may find used ones on ebay like this:
