HT5706 My Itunes wont detect my APPLE TV, it shows up as an IPHONE

I turned on my APPLE TV the other day and a picture of my APPLE TV with a MINI USB cord pointing to the ITUNES symbol appeared. A friend told me it meant i needed to UPDATE my Apple TV by hooking it up to Itunes on my computer. I then plugged my Apple TV into my USB on my MACBOOK (yes the old original white one) and Itunes popped up. However, APPLE TV did NOT show up under DEVICES, rather it said IPHONE!!! When I click on it, it shows a SUMMARY page reading:
IPHONE
Name: Iphone
Capacity: N/A
Software Version: N/A
Serial Number: N/A
VERSION
Check for Update (Faded so that you cant click on it) -Your Iphone software is up to date. Itunes will automatically check for an update on 3/22/14.
Restore: If you are experiencing problems with your iphone, you can restore it's original settings by clicking Restore.
I'm not exactly sure what to do... but I'm getting very frustrated! Could someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Most likely the issue is that the version of OSX on the computer is not current enough to run the latest version of iTunes.  That in itself creates an issue with recognizing and updating the ATV.
Update OSX on the computer, if possible, or install the current version of iTunes (11.1.5.5) on another computer and restore there.
If no other computer is available, take the device to an Apple store to have it restored.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Upgrading to Windows vista means itunes wont detect my ipod?? Help please.

Recently upgraded to windows Vista. Big whopdeedo.
But anyway, when I plug my ipod in, windows tries to update drivers for it, but of course failas horribly.
However, this is having a knock on effect that means itunes wont detect my ipod. So, while my ipod recharges, I cannot sync it. Thus I can't add new songs and what-not.
    Please help.

Yes my ipod is jailbroken, but this has never proved an issue before.
Its not just itunes that now wont recognise my ipod, my other software wont either, and they used to work with the jailbroken ipod.
This all started after i synced a nano, then connected my ipod and a screen came up saying ipod camera connected.
I click on the camera icon in mycomputer and properties tab then selected take no action in the events tab.
This hasnt resolved my issue, and the ipod still comes up as a camera in mycomputer, the only difference being im now not prompted to choose a program to view my photos with.
This is really getting up my nose, as for the second poster, sorry that article was no help at all.
    Please someone help me

  • Itunes wont detect iphone after factory restore

hello, i had to restore my iphone to factory settings because all my apps would not open. Has been doing this for awhile now. I did the restore, and now when i turn it on,it has an itunes logo and the connect wire shown. Itunes doesnt even detect that my iphone is there. I want to restore from backup, but it wouldnt let me so i had to do the whole restore. What do i need to do to get itunes to detect my iphone? i have lots of data that i cant lose.
    Thanks

Ok ... I found the solution. If you view the driver details for the iPhone when plugged in, you will see (at least in my case) that the iPhone is using Microsoft Drivers, not Apple ... this apparently was the issue.
To fix, I downloaded the latest iTunes, I then -extracted- (not installed) the file ... then within the extracted items, there were more .msi files, I extracted all these also.
After extracting, view your iPhone in device manager, click properties, then driver ... update the driver, when asked choose to Browse for folder. Choose the parent folder that you extracted all items to ... Windows should now discover the correct iPhone driver and install.
Don't know if that will work for everyone or not, but it seemed to do it for me.

  • ITunes wont detect iPhone 3g3

I updated iTunes to 10.5 yesterday and am now trying to sync my iPhone 3Gs 16gb.  For some reason iTunes doesnt detect the iPhone at all. I have tried the following:
    - Restarting the mac (Running 10.5.8)
    - Turning phone off and on again
    - Restarting phone by holding home and lock buttons
    - Restarting iTunes (iTunes does lock up when doing this but does work eventually)
    - Force quitting iTunes
    - Pluging into different USBs
I think that iTunes is the problem because when I plug the phone in it charges. However I updated my iPad with no problems yesterday.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I had this problem... you just update the iPhone device driver.
Go to Device Manager (Start> type "Device Manager" in search field), under Portable Devices (might also be under imaging devices), look for Apple iPhone and right click it. Click to browse online to update the driver software.
Also make sure Apple Mobile Device and iPod Service are running (Administrative Utilities>Services). If they are, might restart them anyway.

  • TS1567 Itunes wont download because Apple Mobile Device cannot be used due to error 1053

i bought an ipod touch 4th generation for my friend. She could not download Itunes beacause of the Apple mobile device not being able to activate due to an ''error 1053''... That error is something about not having the correct amdinistator privileges. I tried to run the download as the administrator but i needed the administrator password she said that she cant remember the password, actually she said that there was never a password. Is there maybe a way to dowload the Apple Mobile Device again so that she can download Itunes?

Its because your mobile device isnt started. Heres how to restart it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567

  • ITunes wont detect iPod.

Does anybody know how to get iTunes to detect my ipod without restarting my computer?
Whenever I connect my ipod to my computer and open iTunes it doesn't detect it(allthough the updater can detect it), until I restart my computer.

    hi Chewy!
Whenever I connect my ipod to my computer and open iTunes it doesn't detect it(allthough the updater can detect it), until I restart my computer.
eerie ... but that seems consistent with something interfering with your ipodservice.exe or other itunes processes:
Background processes installed with iTunes 6 for Windows
the three items mentioned in that document launch on startup. so if there is a brief delay before the hypothetical interfering whatsit shuts one of them down again, you might be able to get a connection immediately after a restart.
lets make a quick observation (aimed at checking on whether something like that might be going on). reboot the computer. then open your Task Manager to the Processes Tab.
do you see an ipodservice.exe, an ituneshelper.exe and a qttask.exe in there?
    love, b

  • ITunes doesnt detect iPod 4 as iPod, only as camera or iPhone! What to do?

    Hey everyone,
Got new Ipod touch 4... but Itunes doesnt recognizes it as Ipod. Only as camera or Iphone and Ipod keeps telling me to connect with itunes.
After downloading latest version of itunes I tried to connect the iPod to my Laptop and it says: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." And when I tried to restore my iPod (which is only recognized as iPhone) it says: "Software for this iPhone is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again." But when I go under Store and "Check for available downloads"
it says: "All purchases have been downloaded for this account."
This is pretty much all I tried.
    Anybody got any ideas?

  • Itunes wont detect iphone 5 and it just keeps vibrating

im trying to connect my iphone to itunes, and now it says it cant be detected. I synced some songs into it two nights ago,and now it wont work. i've been googling stuff for 2 hours and nothing helps. i've uninstalled and installed itunes, turned off my computer and back on. I've reset my phone like 2 times, and still nothing. When i plug it in, you see the little lightning bolt next to the battery then it disappears, and it just keeps vibrating or beeping. I'm not using an apple usb cord, but that's not the problem because like i mentioned earlier, i used it two nights ago. please help.

  • Ever since i updated my iphone and it ended up in recovery mode, my itunes wont detect any of my devices.. When i plug it in the computer instead of making that two toned noise it makes a weird one toned noise twice as if there's something wrong..

A while back when i was updating my iphone 5 itunes said an error had occured and my iphone ended up in recovery mode.. i brought it to the apple store they fixed it and i lost everything. supposedly the only things that were backed up on my icloud were 22 contacts from my previous iphone.. But i was still greatful i left with a working phone, however when i went home and plugged it in the computer itunes detected that i had a new phone and asked me if i'd like to back up my phone, surely i clicked yes and in a few minutes EVERYTHING came back! now a day later im here trying to connect my ipod and iphone to itunes and it will not detect anything. I uninstalled and reinstalled it back... still itunes is not responding im going on a road trip!! i need new music on my devices!! Someone help pleaasseee!!

    hey mill1640,
Did you ever get your iPhone to register with iTunes? I just upgraded as well to Snow Leopard, and my my isn't recognized at all also.
If you did get this resolved, I would appreciate a little suggestion in the right direction.
    Many thanks,
    Josh

  • Ipod touch wont turn on and itunes wont detect.HELP!!!!

Can anyone please help me after updated my ipod touch 8gb 1st or 2nd gen cant remember. when i plug it into my laptop, itunes pops up as normal and it says waiting for ipod then the ipod turns on no logo just a blank black screen but its on, after about 2/3 mins it turns off and then in itunes it says. itunes detects an ipod but cant identify it with error code (1602). it also has done the exact same thing but with a white blank screen. i have tried to hard reset by pressing the home button and the power button at the same time i have tried it while its been fully off with the white screen and with the black screen(but switched on) absolutely nothing. i have aslo tried dfu mode in all of them situations i named but still nothing. i have aslo tried to re install the driver manually by navigating to usbappl but i get the error  windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it and underneath that it says the device can not start(10) i have ran out of ideas and can not find anything else online the ipod is absolutely not jailbroken and was working perfectly fine before the update.

    Check your USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014, or “invalid response."
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you may be unable to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
    Try a different computer.
If necessary, resolve any further issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you're still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section.
    Check for hardware issues

Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
