HT5730 Having trouble to update to 10.8.4

I am having trouble to update to 10.8.4 since the time it was required i think 4 months ago and until today I am not able to update it.
Steps I am following:
Clicking on App logo then software update
iTunes opens and i go for the updates and update
It asks me to Restart, I do it and then when it restarts,
iTunes main page opens and i can still see 1 update available, when I check the update I still see the same update is required and on and on again.
Please help me what to do. I am using MacBook Air, Processor 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Thanks
Gebran

You cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion from iTunes. Do the following:
Give this a try:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
After this is completed download and install 10.8.4 Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo).

• Having trouble in updating mac os x

Hey,
I'm Umair khan I just need support of you fellas out there, Coming to the point.. Im updating my mac os x 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 but unfortunately Im not having succes, Aproximately after 72% of done with that error comes with these words as follows,
"Can not update mac os x 10.5.8 either system is not correctly signed or unknown error"
Just because of this Im having trouble in download, Installing and running my applications. Waiting of solution.. Bless.

Some general advice on updating Leopard:
It is worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first to an external hard disk. Ideally you should always have a bootable clone of your system that enables you to revert to the previous pre-update state.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site.
The Combo updater of Leopard 10.5.8 can be found here:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Full details about the 10.5.8 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3606
More information on using Software Updater here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.5.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
Now proceed as follows:
4. Close all applications and turn off energy saving and screensaver.
5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious! In fact a second restart can be recommended.
9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a week or two while you regularly check their websites for updates.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up.  If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party add-on.
Additional tips on software installation here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for  problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
/Library/InputManagers
~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

• Having trouble getting updates on laptop for itunes, got them on desktop but my acct. is on laptop  what do i do?

I have a laptop that my itunes account was change over to however i'm still receiving updates on my desktop.  how do I get my lap top udated with itunes so I can update my 3GS

That you are getting the BONG is a good sign, it's unlikely to be hardware if you are able to hear that.
Start by running SW update. It's not that there is a specific fix, but when updating it may rewrite some system files which may get this going again purely as a side affect. Worth a go, and should not harm the system.
Try reset the PRAM - Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Hopefully one of these quick fixes works, otherwise we'll need to try isolate the issue next - so if still having a problem, I'd try create a new user and login as that user to see if the issue persists (which will tell us if it's system wide or user specific)

• Does anybody know why we are having trouble downloading/updating any apps since the 7 upgrade?

Is anybody having a problem downloading and/or updating any apps since the 7 upgrade?

No issues whatsover.  And with automatic updates, I don't even have to think about updating apps.  When you open the App Store and click on updates, what do you see?  If you see a list of apps with an Open button on the right, your apps are updated.  The new OS provides a list of the apps that updated.  If you see an Update button next to the apps, they aren't updated.
Have you turned on Automatic Updates in Settings?
Settings > iTunes and App Store > Turn On Automatic Downloads for Music, Apps, Book, Updates

(The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.)

For anyone that comes across this. I managed to fix the problem. It had something to do with the date on my computer. Mavericks installer apparently does a date check of some sort and that is where the error is coming from. Open terminal and check the system date. It may be wrong. Another poster in the forums told me how to to check the date and change it. Click here for the link to the explanation. Be careful because the date is in a weird format.

• Still having trouble with update

A month ago I tried updating to iTunes6. Once that occurred it told me that I needed quicktime 7.0.3 and that I have 7.0.2. I've tried uninstalling and going back to the cd software...but then my music won't play. All my music will be in the library, but it won't play. So then I redownloaded iTunes6 and the original message comes up. Can you send me a patch or send me an older version of iTunes? I can't update my mini without it.
Thanks,
Lexi
      Windows XP

hi Lexi!
you're actually not talking directly to Apple. this is a user-to-user troubleshooting forum. see:
What is Apple Discussions?
Once that occurred it told me that I needed quicktime 7.0.3 and that I have 7.0.2.
for that one, let's first try a careful standalone QT 7.0.3 install.
download and save to your hard drive a copy of the QT 7.0.3 installer. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off any antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.0.3 Standalone Installer
if you get an error message on the standalone install, let us know what it says. (include error message numbers if you're getting any.)
if the install goes through, does your itunes launch again?
keep us posted.
love, b

My iPod Nano [1st Generation] won't update or anything with iTunes 7.0!!! It worked with iTunes 6, but I downloaded 7 and it messed up my iPod - I tried deleting iTunes 7 and redownloading 6, but when I finished doing that, and I tried to get 6 to load, a window popped up that said "'iTunes Library.itl' cannot load because it was created on an updated version of iTunes" or something along that line. So now my songs are completely gone, I have NOTHING on my iPod because I had to delete iTunes 7... WHAT DO I DO!?!?!?!?!?!

I tried to get 6 to load, a window popped up that said "'iTunes Library.itl' cannot load because it was created on an updated version of iTunes"

• I am having trouble with updating Itunes

Hi can anyone help me out with this. The other day I tried to update my Itunes from 11.1.3 to 11.1.4. The update wasn't successful. I then tried to update via the Itunes website however that led me to a error message. That message said "Service apple mobile device. (Apple Mobile Device) Failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
Another thing that I tried was restarting my computer and that didn't help with the issue. I uninstalled Itunes and I am still getting the above error message when I am attemping to reinstall it.
Has anyone else had this issue? If so is there anything that was done to resolve the issue? Everything with my itunes was working fine until I tried to update it.

Hello, JRA24ever.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I think the best option would be to completely uninstall all components of iTunes in the order specified of the article below.  Once this is done attempt to install iTunes again.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

• Having trouble installing update CS6_13_0_1

When tring to install update CS6_13_0_1.upd, the update fails and I receive the Installation error code U44M2P7.  How do I make installation work properly?

To leave this thread more general I would recommend reviewing the installation logs applicable to the update you are trying to apply.  This will allow you to locate the root cause of what is causing the update to fail.  You can find directions on how to accomplish this at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.
If you have questions about applying specific updates, and how they may affect that particular application, please post an inquiry into the forum specific to that Adobe application.

• Having trouble with updating...

Hi. I am trying to update iTunes using software update, but, whenever I try to update, all that comes up is an error window with the following:
*The update "iTunes" can't be saved*
You do not have the appropriate access privileges.
The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder.
I have tried to play around with the access privileges, but, it did not make a difference.

You library and settings will remain intact.
That's a big assumption to make, if the preference file that describes some of those settings is corrupted. I would at the very minimum clone backup your data before attempting anything so big, in case the update does make something more corrupt than it is already*:
http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
At very minimum you don't want the update to trigger another failure somewhere else. Once corruption exists, it can multiply when updates are done.
