As long as the film has been fully downloaded then you should be able to watch it whilst offline

Yes you can watch it offline after you start it though the timer for the rental will start so if you dont finish it with in the time window of the rental you will have to re rent it.

Yes, I do it regularly. I can't think of a reason why you should have had to have connected your iPad to your computer before watching a television snow.

No, you do not need Internet to watch it. when you rent it, it downloads the movie or show and then you have a limited amount of time to watch it and then after 48 hours of starting it, it will remove itself.You can watch it without internet once you have downloaded it.

Does the original library file still exist on the computer? Hopefully when creating the new library it was done in a seperate folder as I do not believe iTunes allows for two library files in the same location.

Yes, if in a simple scenario you rent the movie while in Switzerland, then carry it on your laptop computer to your hotel room in New York and play it there it should work. If you're trying to do something fancy involving transferring to a another computer authorized to a different account and then playing it you might have problems.

I dont think so. I believe it requires internet to start watching, but you can continue watching offline. I am really not certain I dont really rent things, I prefer to own my content.

That is stealing. Your friend has no right/licence to give the songs to you. It violates copyright law.
