The iPhone is a pretty mature platform. Why is group messaging so primitive? You cannot edit the members of a group (cut,copy, paste, delete) without creating a whole new message. I don't understand it.
They pretty much invented cut,copy, paste. This problem should have been fixed years ago.

This is an example of how you can select the exact content that you want to sync to your device. You do not have to sync the entire iTunes library. You can pick and choose the music, apps, books and so on that you want to sync. This is using music as an example.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on only the albums or playlists that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
You can do this with apps, books, movies .... Whatever .... You have the freedom to sync whatever you want. -

If you're still around I hope you see this message, as you're the FIRST person (after reading every link, thread, other sites, apple support articles, etc.) to mention JB may be causing this iTunes popup window to REPEATEDLY occur:
"The iPhone software update server could not be contacted."
No, I did not hack anything (are you kidding? Grannies don't hack!), but I unknowingly bought a 3Gs iOS 3.1 from ebay that was not advertised as JB. Since it is like brand new, I was going to keep it (because my old backup is iOS 3.1.2) & was trying to simply restore & update, which (I thought) would remove the JB (that's what everybody says at forums, etc).
Instead, after "erasing all settings/content" (inside phone's Settings to get the prior person's name out of there), it is now stuck in White Apple Mode.
Put it in DFU/Recovery Mode & connect to iTunes but that stupid above message keeps appearing & I have already read/tried EVERYTHING to get rid of that message, starting with:
1. OLD phones (3Gs) with OLD iOS 3.1+ should work FINE with OLD Mac (iBook) with OLD OSX (Tiger 10.4.11) with OLD iTunes (9.2.1[5]). So that can't be the problem.
Here's all the other things apple & others say to check which I already checked:
2. USB ports are FINE, both work FINE, so that's not the problem.
3. No "extra USB devices" are connected, ONLY a mouse, & then the phone (yes, I tried it w/o the mouse connected but that didn't help).
4. No "usb hubs."
5. Latest iTunes for this OSX has already been DL'd (iTunes 9.2.1[5]). If you know of a newer one for this OSX, please advise.
6. No antivirus software.
7. No security software.
8. No routers; only 1 comcast modem, period. Wired Ethernet.
9. No wifi gadgets, no wifi at all.
10. No firewalls, except what is on iBook in the SHARING/System-Prefs. section. It's turned OFF.
11. Did the hosts/terminal thing sudo nano whatever it was. There were only 3 lines, NO gs.apple.com:
xxxxx local host
xxxxx broadcast host
xxxx local host
Oh, & btw, ATT officially unlocked this phone (after I filled out their online forms) but I can't finish the process via iTunes to get their Confirmation that "Device is Now Unlocked," so I can use T-Mo.
So that's it. If you have any other ideas of what to do from here, since from your comment, maybe it's the stupid JB on this phone that is causing the problem (???), please advise.

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network. -
How do I set up the iPhone 5 so that I can receive iMessage (incoming messages) and send text messages (outgoing) every time? I have limited internet quota but unlimited sms!

The reason I don't want to set it off is because I want to let others send me iMessage - most people prefer that according to their plan.
How do I bring this request to the hands of the people doing the ios updates? Maybe they could work on this for the future... -
Tiny Troopers 2 (iPhone and iPad Game) saves are not being synced to both devices. No option is given to load the iPhone save onto my iPad. Why is this? Can anyone explain or help me with this problem?

I recently got a new iPhone 5s for my birthday. Before I had a iphone 4. My carrier is verizon
I had never been able to send pictures to friends who have non iphone phones. I also was never able to receive a group message with people who have non iPhones and iPhones. When I try to send a group message including non iphone users, it sends all messages independently. I have tried everything from turning iMessage and mms on and off to taking out my SIM card. My friend who has an iphone started a group chat with users of iphone and non iphone, though I am still not able to receive the messages even with a new phone and a new SIM card. Is this a problem with verizon? Even so my friends who receive the group chat have verizon and still get the messages. Please I need to fix this because it's extremely aggravating that a simple group messaging function does not work and that no one so far can give me answer on how to fix this. Thanks.Contact Verizon. Group messages in iOS send as MMS messages, which is the same thing used to send picture messages. Your account is not provisioned properly (or you do not have a plan that includes MMS messaging).

New to all this upload stuff so pls excuse me ! So my computer had to be refreshed, I had ripped my CD's to iTunes and also purchased some, the purchased ones are still on iTunes but all of the ones that I had ripped have gone. I have them on my iphone 5, is there a way to put all of the music from the iphone back on to itunes? Have tried "Googling" without success have tried a converter app but still no joy. PLS HELP !!!

Restore them from the backup of yoru computer...

i was downloading the latest software upgrade when the message "Itunes has detected an Iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this phone before it can be used with Itunes" came up. My option of I phone recovery mode says that it will restore the Iphone to factory mode losing all information.
is there anything I can do to prevent this?If the iPhone is in recovery mode, all data is already lost.

They came out with a new iPad mini, and the only difference with the old mini and the new mini is that it has touch ID so that you can make in-app purchases. That's just about the only difference.
Ok, well, the iPhone 5s has touch ID already. Why can't it be used to make in-app purchases?Yes, actually I did. There's no Apple Pay option.
But there's more to it than that. If you look at the Apple Pay section of Apple's website, it specifically says that Apple pay will only work with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch for making in-store purchases (you know, actual stores), and with iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 for making in-app purchases.
So Apple's website specifically says that Apple Pay will not work for iPhone 5s for making in-app purchases.
My question is, why? What technology is it lacking?
I understand that iPhone 5s can't do in-store purchases since it doesn't have NFC. But in-app? Why not? It has touch ID. -
i bought a factory unlocked iphone 4s. it was working fine but when i upgraded it to iOS 5.1 it gave me "no sim" message.
so i tried then to restore the iphone using itunes but it got worse it is giving me now "ICCID: unknown" message please help. any ideas?Please define "factory unlocked". The term is basically meaningless. iPhones are sold either carrier locked or unlocked. Some carriers will unlock them after a period of time upon meeting certain requirements and paying a fee.
There are lots of places that will "factory unlock" an iPhone. This basically translates to "hack". This can cause permanent damage to the phone. Best case scenario is these phones will re-lock to the original carrier on an update or restore. Worst case it they become expensive bricks.
ICCID unknown indicates a critical failure. There is no way to resolve this other than taking it in to Apple and getting the phone replaced. It's very possible that the phone was hacked and attempting to update has now killed it.

HT5760 How many people can you put in a single group message?
I've tried sixteen for my softball team and they get put into four different threads and it doesn't work. I also have two people without iPhones could that be the problem?

Before I buy an Iphone, has "reply all" bug been fixed in group messages?
I have searched all over the internet and it seems like Iphones have a major problem that does NOT seem to be fixed yet.
Currently, I have a G2 with T-mobile. When I send a text message to several people and they reply to me, only I see the replies. Not everyone gets everyone else's replies.
I have noticed with my husband's Iphone 5s, if I send a text message to 5 people and one person responds, ALL five people see that one response. Very annoying.
On his Iphone, I have turned off group messaging and Imessage but this does not turn off the reply all feature when I send a text to a group.
Before, I go out and buy my own Iphone 5s, is there any way to turn off the "reply all" feature? Remember, I have disabled both group messaging and IMessage. In the settings, Group Message and IMessage are switched to off. Even with these settings off, when I send out group texts and one person replies to me - everyone sees it.
How can this really be turned off? Or is this still an Apple glitch?
If it is still an Apple glitch, I will not be buying an Iphone. I want to send group text messages but not annoy everyone with everyone else's responses.
