HT5787 How do I find a password for a previous apple ID?

I changed my apple ID, but need to delete the previous iCloud account from my devices ... to do that I need my previous password. How do I find that information?

"Save in Keychain" is not your problem. You've simply forgotten the password.
Every time you set the password, it overwrites the the value in the keychain. You cannot mess it up by continually overwriting the value you store. The problem is that you are providing the wrong password.
If you want, you can manually remove the password from the keychain by running Keychain Access (in /Applications/Utilities) and searching for the server name in your login keychain. Simply highlight the entry and remove it by pressing the "Delete" key.
You can get the correct password by contacting Comcast support and asking them to reset your password. Make sure that you also use the correct username and server parameters.

    how do I find my password for adobe and Java

    "Java" doesn't have a password, unless you mean your admin password for installing software. That's whatever password you (or the person who set your computer up) used to set up your admin account. That's the same password that you use when you start up the computer if you get asked for one. You cannot retrieve this password if you've forgotten it, but you can reset it and make a new one. See this support article if that's the case:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14325
    "Adobe" is a company and likewise doesn't have a password. However, if you have Adobe cloud-based software you may well have set up a password with them. Adobe also require an account and password for downloading certain products. You'll need to contact Adobe to retrieve any such password if you've lost it.

    How do I find the password for my iMac on version 10.7.4?

    DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE ABOVE LINKS.
    Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
    When the Mac OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
    In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” and press return. A Reset Password window opens.
    Select your boot volume if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
    You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.

  • How do I find my password for my .mac account?

    How do I find my password for my .mac account?
    I open up 'Mail' on my macbook and this comes up - The iCloud IMAP server “p01-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “************”
    No idea where to find out what this password is. Any ideas??

    The password is the same as for the other iCloud facilities. If you can log into the iCloud website at http://icloud.com with the same password then you've probably run into a server issue which has affected some people, though you could try signing out in System Preferences>iCloud and signing back in again, which sometimes fixes it. (And sometimes doesn't.)
    If you can not get into the website you can change your password at http://appleid.apple.com - click 'Reset password' and sign in with your iCloud ID (not your iTunes ID if this is different).

  • How do I get the password for an old apple id, when I don't have access to that old email address, and it doesn't recognize my birthdate?

    How do I get the password for an old apple ID when I dont have access to the email address and it does not recognize my birthdate?

    Hi Attila528,
    Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    If you are not able to receive a rescue email to reset your security questions and password:
    You'll need to contact iTunes Store support to have your questions and answers reset.
    You can find the article with this information here:
    Rescue email address and how to reset Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
    After your password, security questions and answers are reset, I'd recommend providing a new rescue email address:
    You can edit or delete your rescue email address at My Apple ID. To edit your rescue email address:
    Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
    When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
    You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • Help to find a password for an old apple id.

    We have changed ISPs and have changed our Apple ID's.  I need to find a password for the old Apple
    ID that is in icloud so that I can delete that ID in the iphone and input the new one. I have tried all the passwords that I can find and none have let me log in.. When I input the birthdate it says that it does not match? I can not receive an email from the old ISP (comcast) as that account is not active. Is there a work around?

    Unfortunately, the only option you have is the reset process via https://appleid.apple.com

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • How do I delete my iCloud account if my Apple ID has changed and I forgot the password for my previous Apple ID?

    The email address used for my previous Apple ID was no longer valid, so I successfully changed my Apple ID via apple.com using my Mac. However, I'm still signed into iCloud on my iPhone with my previous Apple ID, and I've forgotten that password.

    If you have a current iCloud ID that is a newer version of the old ID (and not an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone and delete the old account.  Then go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.
    If the old ID is not an older version of your current iCloud ID, you'll have to contact Apple for assistance resetting the password, either by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password, or by contacting the Apple account security team: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.

  • How do i find the password for my ipod classic

    Hey guys I'm having a problem with my ipod it's saying if need an password but I have no idea what it is, it locked my out so I have plugged it into my laptop with which I registered my ipod but I cannot find the password to unlock it on the registration so any ideas folks short of sending it into Apple Store!!

    The Apple Store cannot help recover your password.
    See iPod: How to use the Screen Lock - Apple Support.
    Work out what password you set, or restore the device. Assuming your media is in your library this takes some time but isn't otherwise difficult. If you've manually managed the iPod without keeping the media in your library you now know why this is not a good idea. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Off hand I don't know if the various media recovery tools or techniques work with a password locked iPod classic, but quite possibly not.

  • HT5624 Finding the password for an old Apple ID

    Hi folks,
    I am trying to delete an old Apple ID from a new iPhone and it keeps asking for a password. I don't know the password and the email address is no longer active. My laptop is registered to my new Apple ID as is my old iPhone, but in the transition to the new phone the setting preferences seem to have diverted to the old email address as the Apple ID. Does anyone know a way around this?
    Thanks,
    Claire

    Hi, cameo557.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    I understand that you are receiving a prompt for an old Apple ID when attempting an update.  You cant attempt to reset that password for the Apple ID via the steps in the first article below.  If you need assistance with this or are not receiving the email, see the second attached article.  You can also delete the applications in question and download them again with your new Apple ID.  However, this will cause any application data in those applications to be deleted and you may be charged if these are paid for applications.
