HT5815 Got the OS X 10.8.5 supplemental update but my camera still doesn't work :(
Hi,
Before I even got the OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 update, my video for skype was not working. Facetime was not working as well, but photobooth did. After the update however, I get the message "There is no connected camera" for every application. I even got the supplemental update which was supposed to fix the camera problem but it still persists. Help, please!
Also, I'm not tech-savvy at all, so if you do have a solution, please try to explain in layman's terms, if possible

There is a known issue with mid-2013 MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5). If your Mac is NOT a mid-2013 model, this issue does not apply.
According to Apple's technical support article entitled "MacBook Air (Mid 2013): FaceTime HD Camera might not work after OS X 10.8.5 update", Apple is investigating this issue.

Before you applied the 10.8.5 update, (or if your MBA is NOT a mid-2013 model) you could have used the built-in iSight suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 to troubleshoot your FaceTime HD camera problem(s). After getting the camera working in OS X 10.8.4, if you use a mid-2013 MBA, applying the 10.8.5 update and the workaround should have given proper camera functions.
However, at this point, try resetting the PMU/SMC using the directions for
"Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own"
from the HT2090 page reset instructions for MacBook and MacBook Pro before applying the workaround.
If your MBA is NOT a mid 2013 model, consider the other HT2090 suggestions, too.
If your camera still doesn't work, or if the above suggestions seem more complicated than you want to attempt, contact Apple, your Apple retailer, or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

I have the same problem with my 4s too. Wifi is greyed out and won't switch on, plus Bluetooth doesn't work either. From what I can gather it's caused by either a broken or overheating WiFi chip. I'm planning to take mine to an Apple store to see if it can be repaired.

I have Windows XP. Using firefox as my browser. Suddenly, I can't open PDF files in the browser. I've tried all the fixes mentioned. Nothing works!!! Checked the plugin settings, checked Adobe Reader settings.
I already fixed it. I never exited out of Firefox before deleting the mime file. it works now.

After reseting smc the camera still doesn't work
in every camera application it says "no connected camera" i tried resetting the smc and it still isnt working. any suggestions?

Although you may have tried other suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090, you do not mention that you have checked more than one user account. You could check your user account before responding to Klaus for more specific help suggestions.
(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
Do not use the "Guest" account for user account testing. If you don't already have multiple accounts, create a new account for this testing. If you need help creating a new user account, see http://support.apple.com/kb/VI32

I'm aware that I can go into the about:config screen and toggle a couple of settings but the real question is "Why is this still a problem since version 4?" Why bother to have Preferences at all, if the given solution is always to tweak the config?
This hint was posted on a similar link that works for me. Here is what to do:
In option -> privacy -> choose "use custom history setting" and choose your preference for history and cookie setting. and then click "OK'.
Then you will get the warning when closing multiple tabs.
It doesn't seem to be related but it does affect the operation of the other part of the software that issues the warning. -
It also won't delete off my computer for me to try downloading it again. I don't know what to do.
Download this shareware program, it will allow you to "peek" inside the pkg and dmg files of your OS X installer disk that comes with the computer so your can replace the copy of Preview with a new one.

Look in your "username"/Library/Preferences folder for these three files and move them to your desktop, reboot and relaunch Preview

They get rebuilt automatically. Check to see, if so and everything is fine, then Trash the 3 files on the desktop

After change to Mavericks my Mac become too slow e I can't use it because stays asking passwords for "talagent" and "messages agent" as icloud keys. I got changed the icloud password many times and still doesn't work. I can't open any program.

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.

I tried to put ios 7 on my ipad 2 but then it took me to recovery mode then I got the new itune and tried to restore it but then it stops in the middle
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost. -

Lets take first issue first: Apple does not charge a customer to 'keep' iPad access. That does not happen at apple. If you were billed and charged that amount of money from someone you were speaking to over the phone, you were not talking with Apple support. If you need to speak with apple support you are free to call them at 800MYAPPLE and they will talk to you for no more money than 19.00/ support event.
