An update shouldn't have 'erased the files out of your backup if you are using Time Machine. See section E in the first link.

  • Sony Xperia system upgrade causes BT email issue

My Sony Xperia mobile phone has just had a system upgrade and now my BT emails are coming up corrupted on it. I contacted my phone provider who tells me BT has changed their popbox codes and I need to go on to my account and enable it for mobile devices. I have had a look with no luck. Any suggestions please.

I have had this exact experience with my Sony Xperia M2 Aqua phone after downloading new system software about 2 weeks ago. My husband and I have the same type of phones and share the same email account. Fortunately he did not update his phone with the latest Sony software. He still has the previous version on his phone and he has had no problems at all.
I have had little joy with Sony other than to ask me to send them screenshots of the problem, to take off and reload my btinternet email account, and to use PC Companion to repair/reload the software. I have done all they ask but to no avail as problem is still the same after doing everything they suggest. They are extremely loathe to accept that the problem stemmed from their software update but are now referring it to a technical department to investigate. Sony say that I can't revert to previous version either as a solution as they can't downgrade a phone again after upgrade had been installed.
I would welcome any suggestions or advice to fix the problem if anyone can help.

  • Missing email after upgrade to 10.4.6 from 10.3.9

    Hi,
I recently upgraded from Panther to 10.4.6. All seemed to go well except with my Mail. All my mail box folders imported fine, but my unsorted Inbox is missing about three months worth of email. I went to my backup on my trusty external harddrive that I made just before the upgrade and the email isn't there either. But the strange thing is it was definitely on my computer prior to the upgrade. I'm stumped. Any ideas? I've used spotlight to try and locate the missing emails to no avail. I'm just wondering why this happened. I'm pretty sure the email are gone for good, but none the less would like to prevent it from happening in the future.
    Thank you,

Try this trick. Make certain you have backup of the entire Mail folder. This may rebuild things for you. Pretty harmless trick, actually.

  • Missing emails after upgrade

    Hello,
Either my account has upgraded on its own or I chose the option on accident but all of my emails are currently missing. I have a student email and none of my messages are in any of the folders. There's no reason any of my emails should be gone unless I deleted
them. Please help me fix this problem and locate my emails. I called a number and of course there was no help that could be offered.
    Thank you

    Hi,
Can you see the missing emails when you view form web access?
Did you archive your emails by mistake? We can locate C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Outlook Files and check if there is any Archive.pst files in the folder. If so, open your Outlook, click File > Open > Open Outlook Data File > Select the .pst file,
click OK to open the data file to check if you can see your missing emails in Archive folder from Outlook folder list pane.

  • Missing emails, contacts, calendar and texts - iOS6 upgrade

Has anyone else experienced this or know what to do? Everyone seems to be in complete denial at Apple about this problem.
At the store, they advised me to set up the phone as a completely new phone however:
    - am **STILL** missing emails, contact, calendar appointments and texts (I use MS-exchange)
    - I've lost all my old texts and notes (and am trying to do a backup to my old iPhone 4s (on old iOS) but its not working
I'm ready to commit myself to an asylum from the havoc wreaked in my life a the moment, not to mention my sadness at losing a note containing all both my daughters milestones and special moments from the last 4 years (which I can't retrieve because the restore to iPhone 4s isn't working).
Can someone please help preserve my sanity and help this problem? I have deleted iCloud as I think perhaps the "Cloud" is confusing matters and getting rid of data (and not working well with Exchange)
    Any other tips?

oops...ouch...hard way to learn to always back up your stuff
you "never" backed anything up?? not even an old backup someplace? you really don't have to answer...i'm just feeling your pain. difficult.

Funny you should ask... At about the same time that the Xserve was discontinued, we also lost our channel rep of nearly 14 years. Right now we are not sure who our rep is. I have however, sent this to as many people in Apple that I could think of. And I plan on continuing to reach out to as many as possible.
The sad reality is that this decision is impacting customer deployments and the future of customer installations. Apple strives for market share and loves to tout those numbers. But the numbers we fought for over these last eight years are going to disappear.
As much as this impacts our business, we are making up for it in enterprise deployment of systems. We will survive and lead in our geographic area. I do not fear that. But OS X Server is a UNIX server and with it has come all of the benefits of a UNIX system, including legitimacy in a data center. The Intel Xserve cemented this reality because of its hardware configuration and form factor. Yes, we have G4 and G5s still in service. But those are mostly in all Mac shops that understand the benefits and can work around the buzz word limitations. But fortune 100/500 IT departments did not really get on board until the release of the Intel server.
Still beating the drum to raise awareness. Spread the word and talk to your Apple reps.
Also, ask about the direction that Apple's Enterprise team is going. If the news I hear is correct, then our fears about all things pro and enterprise going away are likely true.

  • Exchange 2013 - Missing Emails sent internally

Can someone please help me diagnose what has happened with the following problem
User1 sends an email at 23:18 from his works laptop at home which is connecting to exchange using Outlook Anywhere
User1 sends an email to 4 users: "User2, User3, User4, UserEx" - UserEX is an external user.
    User3, User4 & UserEX - Received the email
User2 - Did not received the email
User1 - Travels to place of works and logs onto his works PC (not the laptop which is at home)
User1 - Also receives a copy of all messages sent to User2 and notices that he doesn't have a copy of the email he sent to User2 at 23:18.
User1 - Checks his sent items, there is no email there from 23:18
User1 - Confirms that User3, User4 received the email, which they have.
He contacts me (support) asking what is going on. I investigate by looking at his OWA (thinking it could be a syncing issue), the email doesn't show up UNLESS I do an advance search on his OWA Email Box, which tells me there are two emails 1 in his Inbox
and 1 in his drafts. Move away from the advanced search and the email cannot be found.
I complete a Deliver Report for User2 for this missing email; Results below

If anyone can help me workout what the heck is happening here, id be very appreciative.
    Thanks
    Neil

    Hi there Amy,
User1 sends about 10-20 emails a day to User2 and they have been fine since and beforehand. Its just this instance.
    User1 = Director
    User2 = PA
It was an Email not a Meeting Request.
The email in question was being replied to.
    To: UserEX
    Cc: User2; User3; User4
The Director receives a copy of all emails sent to his PA. In this instance neither one of them received the email. The only people to receive the email was UserEX, User3, User4.
Also the Directors email (User1) wasn't in his sent items on his work PC in the morning. (Remember he sent it from his laptop at home during the late evening the day before).
The trackinglogs & delivery reports, say that the email got delivered to all recipients. Further investigation suggests that this email is there but not visible to them.
Its a strange one I know, but I'm wondering what would cause an email to be there but not invisible?.

  • Missing emails in Mail - Lion deleting them?

I'm using Mail with two IMAP accounts (oneis gmail), and I'm experiencing a little weirdness.
I seem to be missing emails coming in, which I'm not deleting or filing away.
I got in late last night and checked my emails on my iPhone. I read one that needed to be replied to today, then closed Mail on my iPhone and went to bed.
This morning, I jumped on my Lion iMac and opened Mail - and the email I read on my iPhone doesn't appear in my inbox. I checked on my iPhone and iPad and it's not there either.
I didn't delete it or move it or do anything other than read it on my iPhone.
I asked on another forum, and one person said the following:
I am experiencing the same thing. I seem to be able to send email from the Lion's new Mail, but can't receive any.
I have several mail accounts in Mail and the problem seem to be the same with all of them regardless of whether on exchange server or not. The strange thing is that I can see and read some of the "invisible" incoming mail in my iPhone, but if I try to refresh my Mail accounts on mac, it may delete the new emails also from my iPhone! The disappearing emails are nowhere to be found and I have also checked the external exchange service mail boxes and junk mail and spam boxes.
Quite serious bug causing a lot of harm!
So it doesn't seem to be just me.
    Anyone else?
    Cheers.

    Ditto,
I have an Exchange, 5 IMAP, and a POP account.  I only have the exchange and an IMAP set up on my phone and iPad, so I only know that those are acting odd for sure.  Not really sure what the problem is.  The emails are showing up in searches.  I have a special "ding" for when my wife emails me and that sounds, but I can only see it if I search for it. The message, along with, most, others wont show up in my inbox...
I'm a part of the developers beta for iCloud and have iOS 5 beta on my iPad but not my iPhone.  Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I figured I should mention.
I really have no idea where to start to fix this bug.  Maybe adding and removing the account, but if it's a problem spanning multiple accounts, that doesn't seem likely and with the number of email I have, it'd require quite a while to sync up again.

  • Case of the missing email

A bit more info on the crash of my mail program this morning.
Re-entered the info when prompted by dialogue box to set the mail program up again (not sure if info was exactly the same as was there before crash)
I now got this message when looking at some past emails in my smart folders.
"The message from [email protected] concerning “Re: Next meeting” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
And all sent messages have vanished.
Currently I can receive emails but not send.
Seems to be several items in mail folder
    Mail
    archive.mbox
    Deleted Messages.mbox
    Outbox.mbox
    Delivered.mbox
    SmartMailboxes.plist.backup
    MessageRules.plist.backup
    POP-n__%[email protected]
    OpenedAttachments.plist
    MessageRules.plist
    LSMMap2
    MessageSorting.plist.backup
    MessageSorting.plist
    Signatures
    DefaultCounts
    Envelope Index
    Signatures.plist
    POP-n__@g[email protected]
    Mailboxes
    SmartMailboxes.plist
    Is old mail gone forever?
Any thoughts on this are appreciated.
    mark

I copied my .mbox which was in the Inbox of my accounts with missing
messages, onto the desktop, then put it in a folder and imported
it as "Other" into my Mail program. Then I was able to see the messages
in Mail from the "Import" Folder.
In my thread "Upgrade Lost Messages," this thread was helpful.

  • Missing email in BT Internet

I am having massive problems with BT Internet missing email.  It has worked perfectly for years but in the last two weeks many people have sent me mail that I never receive (not in spam).  There is no pattern i.e. this morning someone sent me two emails, I got the second but never received the first.  It happens with different people every day.  To compound this, BT Yahoo web mail just deletes all the items in my inbox at random and they just disappear (not in deleted items)
    Help!

There is NO, I repeat NO limit on email storage with BT Yahoo Webmail. Years ago there used to be but this restriction has long gone and as others are saying BT advertise that email storage is unlimited. There is a download limit but that is entirely different.
However if any reader uses the search facilty above and enters my name John1952 you'll find another thread in which I outline my problems with BT. I have been having serious problems with BT and Yahoo apparently randomly deleting emails in my inbox and other folders.
To start with I thought that this was my imagination but it started to happen so often that I became convinced that there was a problem. It was problem at BTs end which they admitted to and I solved it by buying and using Outlook to download and keep all my mail safe myself. Up until then I had no email client software so please don't tell me that I had something on my computer which was downloading and deleting these emails from the server. As a result of now keeping all my emails myself I have not lost or mislaid one email yet before this it was a daily problem.
There is something seriously wrong with the storage of customers emails. It is either caused by customers like me who have stored a large number of emails, I had around 4GB of stored emails, and for some reason the system has a bug that occurs with large storage or large numbers of folders, or its malicious. And don't waste your time talking to BT about it because they will deny knowledge, it will always be your fault and you will waste so much time talking to them that you'll lose the will to live.
If you are losing emails simply get an email client and store them on your own system......and back them up!!!

  • Missing Email

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me understand what has happened here.
"User  A" is a Director of a company who gets a copy of all external emails in to a specific department. There is a Transport Rule setup for this. Also "User A" has no personal rules setup what so ever and only
    has default mailbox folders.
An external user sent an email to "User A" and "CC'd" to "User B" (User B is a member of the specific department of which he receives a copy), though on this occasion "User A" didn't receive the
email at all, though "User B" did.
"User B" has had to forward the message onto "User A"
The Tracking logs within Exchange 2013 show that the email was delivered.
    I then used : Get-MessageTrackingLog -ResultSize Unlimited -Start "March 31 2014 | Out-GridView
Using the Filter placed the Senders Email address which showed it being delivered also.
Using the MessageTrackingLog there is 2 sections saying HAREDIRECTFAIL and 1 section DUPLICATEDELIVER.
This company uses emails heavily to do business and now I being asked how many more emails are going missing that they don't know about.
And just to mention I have just recently upgraded them from a SBS2008 environment to Windows 2012 / Exchange 2013. Everything thing else is and seems to be working fine.
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your description, you want to get other missing emails for User A because of duplication. If I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to let me know.
If yes, message tracking log can help us. And you can try the following command:
    Get-MessageTrackingLog -eventID DUPLICATEDELIVER
For more information about message tracking, you can refer to the following article:

  • Outlook 2010 Instant Search STILL Missing Emails

This has been an ongoing problem and has our (quite large) IT group stumped. After extensive internet research, I found only one instance in the MS Tech Forum where someone had the same issue and it was never resolved (submitted June 18, 2010 by manwithnoname).
The MS Outlook 2010 running on our company Exchange will miss emails when performing an instant search. Even emails sitting in the window with clearly displayed matching search criteria.  It doesn't seem to matter if the email(s) are new, old, or inbetween
nor current folder or in another.  My IT has extensively run through all the fixes including rebuilding indexes, reinstalling Outlook, creating a fresh pst file, including all the fixes suggested in "manwithnoname"'s suggested fixes, all to
no help. My IT group has passed this problem throughout the group till it stumped even the most experienced person, who finally just pronounced it, "Another MS bug."
I have found others on the 'net have had similar results but never successful solutions.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!? It means I can't trust any of my search efforts and is causing frustrating drains on productivity.
I suspect that there are many Outlook users that are ignorant of this issue occurring and may be causing errors in work tasks. If Microsoft cannot provide a working solution, who can?!?!  Please help!

I appreciate the response and the reference articles. I will look at them.
I understand about the partial strings as I need to use wildcards if I suspect it's not catching emails I know are available.  I am using typical search strings that usually work without problems. e.g. search for JY01 (which is part of a document number)
yields search results with no problem. Search for M000, no dice even though I know and can sometimes see the emails with M000 in the subject line.  The difference between "0" and "O" is not causing an issue.
One aspect of the problem I've witnessed is it will find some emails with the search criteria but not all.  This makes the search unreliable and untrustworthy.  It doesn't seem to matter if I'm using instant search or advanced search.
If anyone else has experienced this, please reply and share your experience.
    MICROSOFT Techs, please respond!!!

  • Missing Emails and Call Log

I woke up this morning and realized all my emails and call was missing. After getting over my fustration I learned that this is because I ran out of memory so the phone automatically deletes the logs.
    So I have two questions:
1: Is that the cause for my missing emails and logs?
2: Would buying a micro sd card help? Would the logs be stored on the sd card or does the sd card only help for media storage?
    Thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The microSD card is only used to store media files

    See this tip --> http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
If this doesn't resolve it you most likely have a hardware failure. Fortunately, your phone is in warranty, so if you take it to an Apple store they will replace it.
