HT5824 iCloud and Windows 8.1:Outlook 365 can't sync my iCloud calendar
I recently installed the windows 8.1 on my PC and now Outlook can't sync my iCloud calendar. The calendar works fine on my MacBook Pro and the iCloud app on my windows start page opens the iCloud calendar. It shows all appointments when I view the calendar in the ap but I use Outlook 365 for my business email and add appointments to the Outlook calendar. I see the iCloud calendar listed on the My Calendars panel, but now when I click on it I get the message: The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. It was working in the original Windows 8.

Do you mean that only the Exchange account in the desktop Mail app can’t sync?
Please take a look at the following article.

Exchange ActiveSync can be used to sync data for email, contacts, and calendar. The Windows 8 Mail app supports Exchange ActiveSync.
Please open the Windows Store app Calendar and People to check if they can normally sync.
Please try to remove the account in Mail app and sign in again and check if the issue still exists.

Thank you for your help.Many of us had the same problem. If you scroll thru the questions, you'll see your same question/problems dating back over a month ago when the new update first came out. The Apple Software Updater just showed blank, it didn't show the update. I patiently waited, knew it wasn't my computer since scores of us were having same problem not being able to do the update. Knew eventually Apple would fix it. Lo & behold when I signed on to my computer today a window popped up from Apple Software telling me updates were available & I clicked the "download" and it downloaded just great. I was able to sync my Ipod and Ipad to it just fine, etc. So probably if you can just wait...is your current ITunes working? If so, wait. Looks like there is a fix coming to all of us.(Note, that the "update" pop up window was different than the little window you've probably been seeing on your ITunes screen. This one didn't come up when I opened up ITunes. It popped up on my desktop. I have Win 7. Good Luck.

I have win7, outlook 2007 tried to sync with icloud but I get an error message and my calendar is blank. I do not see my outlook calendar, on the left pane under all calandar I see my me account checked and all others are unchecked. I looked at icloud and all the data is in and the iphones syncl with ipad but something is not right with my PC Outlook. I cannot get back to the good old mobileme. Thanks APPLE? This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

Outlook 2013 won't sync thru iCloud -- workaround
On a Windows 8 PC, Outlook 2013 will not sync calendar and contacts with i devices thru iCloud. Until Apple and/or Microsoft address the compatibility issue, there is a reasonable workaround. Use Outlook 2013 only for mail. For calendar and contacts, go to icloud.com and use the apps there. User interface is almost identical with the apps on i devices, and these two apps sync perfectly thru iCloud. I believe the Outlook 2013/iCloud compatibility problem exists regardless of which version of Windows is being used, but I have experience only with Win 8 on this issue..
Outlook 2013 is not a supported iCloud client, there are no official 'workarounds' but the mehod you describe will suffice.
Using MS Exchange with Outlook is a far superior method of synchronizing Contacts, Calendars. Notes and Tasks. -
I have just started with iCloud, and run into a problem from my PC.

You can't use iCloud when multiple versions of Outlook are
installed. To use iCloud with outlook, uninstall one version.
I have searched and found two versions of Outlook 2013 and 2015 (one of which was inactive, but I have removed it), and one of outlook.pst, which I have removed.
Where do I go from here?That's a Windows/Office problem. You should ask in the Microsoft support forums.

If the hard drive that crashed is the one that stored the itunes library, be sure to restore the library from Time Machine (mac) or whatever backup you use on windows. That will get back your music. I suspect that the replacement drive has an empty itunes library and thus, perhaps, the itunes match used that to sync to its servers.
Try posting in the iTunes Match forum, you'll probably find more knowledgeable folks there.

How can I use iCloud again after upgrading OS to Mountain Lion? 2 days of trying every password I have ever used, AND changing Apple ID and iTunes ID, still nothing. Can't backup on iCloud anymore.
Apple ID's can be used for anything, a single ID can be used for all your accounts (ie iCloud, iTunes, MAS, Apple community etc), ideally this would be the way forward. So far as iTunes goes you need to continue to use the same ID as you have always used or you will lose access to your previous purchases and your iTunes match subscription.
If you are using a second ID for iCloud, you can continue to do so or use the ID you use for iTunes, but if you choose the later you will need to move all your calendar, contact etc data to the account using the ID you use for iTunes.
When (if) you change which account you use you would delete the account on an iOS device and log back in with the correct details, on a mac you would sign out in the iCloud system preference pane. -
Hi! I have an iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.3 and I have iTunes 11.1.3.8. on my Windows 8. Now I can't sync my iPhone, because the device is not recognised by iTunes. Somebody have any idea why, or what can I do (except refresh the iPhone software) ?

Thanks, David. i thought i had it set correctly in Preferences in L&R. Being i was wearing my suspenders and belt at the same time i went back to L&R, cleared what was there and re-entered same to include unchecking and rechecking Time Format fgor 24-hour time. It works now. Thanks again.

If I don't want to use photo stream, can I still upload a bunch of photos to iCloud and then share them with people who do not have iCloud?
iCloud provides a simple gallery in the form of 'Photo Journal' - uploading of photos from iPhoto to web pages hosted on iCloud, but only from iOS devices; and the photos are compressed to a size adequate for online viewing but are not available in full resolution as with the old MobileMe Gallery. Apple have provided a sample album here.
